Giant Bomb Vive stream | What a Time to Be a Vive!

this is not what i expected out of an ikea simulator. why not make a store model, get you a lil pencil and a card, then you walk through it and order shit.

Giant Bomb needs to take these VR headset video games more seriously. I can't believe he ate that moldy donut. Jesus, Jeff.

So you honestly think you will be able to go into a store and get everything computer/vive for less then $500 in 5 years? I just don't see that.

Modern? Hell no. But in 3 years I think it's reasonable you could get a first generation Vive and a good enough graphics card/cpu for $500 or less. You wouldn't be experiencing the most modern VR but you'd be able to experience this stuff at a reasonably cheap entry point. I imagine with the jumps in VR technology we'll see in the next iterations (improved tracking, wireless cords maybe, better touch stuff, foveated rendering, etc.) that previous generations might drop faster than in other markets. At the same time there's probably a LOT of people wanting to try VR so there might be a high demand for the 'outdated' models if they're selling cheaper. It's hard to say.

If they stick with this experiment I don't see why they couldn't do something like that. But they obviously pooped this out at the last second cause someone at IKEA really passionate about VR wouldn't shut up about making something.

Which is my mistake. I was really hoping to get excited for Vive and see them genuinely hyped for the new tech but it just seems like any old day to them.

Definitely not for me.

Like I said with the Rift, this is par for the course when it comes to their hardware streams. They never seem that enthused but they are enjoying the tech.

It's hilarious how bad the Oculus launch day looks in comparison. Seems stupid of them to rush the launch with no motion controllers or room scale stuff.

The stream has been great and Jeff has been enjoying himself. Ugh, hate this pre-set mindset that Giantbomb is jaded when they clearly aren't. Anyways, got a pizza coming in so I can enjoy the rest of the day's stream.

Because there are real people don't act crazy just because they are enjoying something.

Yeah, tracking is what makes VR appealing in the first place for me. Motion controllers at the very least.

This is the game coming up:

Spoilers bro!!!!!

Actually really like how Jeff plays the games. It just seems honest. This stuff all seems really neat. I just don't see myself getting into it at all. Glad GB is doing this stream though. Watched the Rift stream and am looking forward to the PSVR stream they'll do.

Room Scale definitely isn't for everyone though. I have to actually measure and take out graph paper for my office to see if I can even comfortably do roomscale in it. If not, it seems like a waste to drop $800 on a Vive, paying a premium for the best feature I can't even use.

Splitting the (initially) tiny userbase into those with and without motion controllers is the worst thing Oculus has done.
