Lol I figured they´d take this week off, what could they possibly have left to talk about after last week!

It's basically a whole podcast for whatcha been playing in the holiday break.

I listened to day 5 AND 6 last night while playing Deadly Premonition on Hard :D Good stuff, but I'm a bit annoyed at their apparent total disregard for spoiler warnings etc. They hated on Brad for not wanting to spoil something (BRAD! not spoiling! :lol ) and not getting spoiled himself, but what about the listeners? I've already gotten most of RDR spoiled so there's barely a desire left to buy it, and they just barely managed to not spoil AC:B as well. And had I not already seen the DP endurance run and played it myself, that would've been killed as well. Surprised they didn't murder Minerva's Den too (though they did kill Shadow Broker).

They could've avoided all that by at least mentioning at the start that they were going to talk so explicitly about some games, which wasn't really needed for most of their points anyway.

I still think those guys need 1 or 2 more writers or people doing reviews, at least for more diversity. I often think some things get looked over when looking at the site or listening to the Bombcast... I don't attribute it to the individuals, it's just the amount of individuals.

There can never be an illegal amount of Giant Bomb in my eyes and ears.

I am so with Vinny, checkpointed bosses are awesome.
I can't remember what game it was, but I was fighting a boss recently and just wishing for checkpoints.

Yeah, would be around the anniversary of the founding of GB, no?

edit: according to Wiki, it launched on March 6, 2008 so expect album art to change around then.

Still on day 2 of the GOTY podcasts. Do any of them stand out after this, because the argument between Brad & Vinny regarding Minerva's Den and Shadow Broker was a straight up bummer
Last day is the standout, but nothing is as rough as that "discussion" - it's all civil game talk for the most part after that.

Loved the discussion in regards to how they deliberate over their GOTY choices, very candid, much respect.

fucking hilarious about the best new character debut. supposed to be Mordin but it was Bayonetta. what's weird was the site had a full write up and was in the video recap. someone changed it after deliberations. :lol :lol :lol :lol

That qualifier really sheds a whole new light on my opinion of the GotY casts. They aren't really podcasts as much as they are a record of the deliberations. I should have taken that into account when I got so bored by them!

All is well, to hell with these pants and we're out!
We'll be at Mortin's.

Vinny: "My USB doesn't fit..."
Ryan: "Just spit on it"
:lol

Good show, enjoyed the GOTY explanations and liked them talking about playing all these games they missed out on last year.

all this sudden AP praise is making me interested in the game. but i'll check it out when it's less than $20.

Love it or hate it. It's got a ton of flaws and some head scratching decisions, but I thought it was awesome (Endgame):
straight up until the end where they throw a fucking helicopter at my completely stealth based character. What a loaaaad of horseshit.
But totally worth a play just for the character development and twisting plot, in my opinion.

Should have grabbed it at the Steam sale for 10euros or something like that :/

I saw the sale but I'd rather play it on consoles. My PC is too weak for it anyway.

Ryan is wrong in thinking that listening to those deliberations is torture or awful.

it's great fun to hear their pain and suffering from 8 hours of GOTY.cx talk

PC is the superior version due to the .cfg tweaks you can do in case you really can't stand the shooting parts. Otherwise you're going to have to rely completely on getting critical shots.

I never had an issue with that part. Just point and shoot until it dies and hide in cover in-between. It's not like it moves around that much. Took my stealth guy no more than 5 minutes.

I think I'm sick of them after all the GOTY stuff.

nahhhhh
I'm definitely going to take a few days before I listen to this. I was almost as tired of listening to the bombcast as the guys were of making it by the end. :/

I'd agree with that. I love the five guys, but I'd really like to see a few more people on board, even if they're only contributing writing. I understand the philosophy of GB - only review things that interest them - and you know I think that philosophy is fucking great, but at the same time it would've been nice to have seen a Red Dead review from them (as a base example). Those five were obviously prepping for E3 at that time - I feel for them there as I never finished Red Dead period thanks to prepping for and heading out to E3, but there could've easily been another Red Dead review from someone else who wasn't doing E3.

In short, I think they could expand the site a little by bringing on like-minded individuals without ruining the 'basic' Giant Bomb, which is about the dynamics and personalities of the main crew. They're accomplishing that a tad with people like Alex and Dave contributing things now and then, but I'd like to see more. Hell, I'd like to see a bit of a foreign view; a UK-based news writer or something. One (or two) people in Europe to contribute sporadically would be great, as it'd mean GB could still get some coverage out of events like GamesCom.

It's difficult because Whiskey is still small compared to other places that can throw money at such ideas... so in the meantime I'll just enjoy whatever they can cook up.

Well, yeah. The likes of Vinny, Drew and Anna are stretched pretty thin as it is. Part of the ceiling on how much content that can be produced is down to the editors, too, though. Ideally, they need more of both. In general as a writer myself I'd like to see more text content out of GB - they do extremely well with the videos - their surprise at how well can be easily seen on the Whiskey blog around the time the Endurance Run was in its early stages - but that's come at the cost of traditional text content, which is a shame. I'd like to see more text, even if they have to look outside to get it. As long as the people they pull in to do it fit with the Giant Bomb mantra, I don't think it'd matter too much.

This is the best bombcast in a grand while. Just talking about games and more games. I love GB because of their ability to articulate well what they like and don't like and not usually be fucking snobby about it like most podcasts I hear.

Especially the AP and Enslaved DLC talk. It makes me want to just clear out time for the weekend to play those. And also Bioshock 2 DLC, but I have to wait for 2k to hurry up release the pc version for that one.

Jeff talked about it on one of his silly "ask me questions" things that he has. They'd like to hire more writers, but aside from Nicholson and MattBodega on reposting shit they saw on Kotaku or Destructoid news, they want to get guys that gel with the kind of tone and voice they've established with the site, which is no easy task. They kind of got that with Alex and Rorie (fuck the haters; Alex was always my favorite person at Gamespot), but obviously they have their own site to run.

Oh come the fuck on Ryan. There's nothing brutal about Recettear's save system. You push start and save. In fact there are 100 slots and you can save as much as you want.

Good podcast GB crew. Loved the whole laid back nature of it.

Major kudos Brad for ending with the Ilomilo music, :D

You can't hear him yet? I'd get your right headphone checked then as they're using binaural mics for this one.
Aw guys, quit trolling me :lol
I should have read the first page of the thread.

1hour and 5 mins of Vinny talking...again, Ryan should do something about this, I like Vinny but too much of Vinny is just too much.

Drew need to be in Bombcast more often.
