I drove by Rouge et Noir (the Marin cheese factory Jeff mentioned) not even an hour ago! They've got a great picnic area and an awesome duck pond and they're a stones throw from the incredibly picturesque (more so before the drought mostly emptied it) Nicasio reservoir.
And I'll be all stereotypical and shit and just say I found it darkly hilarious that neither Brad nor Dan had any idea where the fuck west Marin is. Have these fuckers never bothered to look at a map of their own surroundings? Shit, even if I'm just visiting a place for the first time I do the basics of figuring out what the basic lay of the land is.

It was a fun game that played pretty well and had a cool new idea, and didn't have big technical issue in 2014.

Me neither. It has competent core mechanics and an interesting system, but the pacing, story, and world sucked. Not to mention the fucking abysmal final missions.

So I was there with the group at PAX East, where Dan talks about eating the pepper at the late night Chinese restaurant, that was a few years back and I totally forgot about being there. Jeff Geen was definitely there, I was right next to him. That night was a mess. I remember our table being way too loud. Don't remember seeing Dan even. I remember some fan/user of the site sitting near me and being legit angry and hostile with me because I looked too much like a hipster to him. Also funny to think I had drunk Chinese with Adam Boyes.
Same night where Patrick Klepek put the Star Wars Cantina song on repeat on the jukebox of the bar we were at before then. The regulars there where not happy.

Yea I wonder how much the inclusion of a fleshed out story mode has helped the EO series. Like Drew said it's bland JRPG tropes with annoying characters and it's still a dungeon crawling game first, on a handheld. I can't imagine the story mode is capturing a large untapped market.

Drew playing EOU2 makes me so happy. I'm sure he won't get too deep, but it's about damn time one of the Bomb crew checked out the best playing RPG series going right now.
Him saying the story sucks is not surprising. The stuff they shove in the Untold series just really hasn't ever worked. It's a mechanics first series, and the mechanics are so good that the (relative) lack of a story in the main line games doesn't matter.

To me it's just one of those repetitive sandboxes that gets boring quickly. On top of that, its combat system was a joke. You can literally play this game blindfolded and it's impossible for enemies to kill you if you just spam buttons. The nemesis system was cool and all but does not elevate the game to "great" in my opinion.
In general I feel the GB West guys have a tendency to like those kind of flashy but repetitive sandbox games much more than I do (Far Crys, Just Causes etc.).
I'm equally baffled by their love for Wild btw. The game just looked rough and boring in that video (although Ancel will probably deliver a good product in the end). #TeamGBeast!

I felt shadows of mordor deserved the praise but I am also one of those who thought Tropical Freeze was mediocre at best and not even close to the original donkey kong country games.+ Mario Kart 8 and Tropical Freeze. Especially the latter is GotY-worthy as it is one of the best platformers ever created, putting games like SM3DW to shame. Too bad too few people know about this.

The Nemesis system in Mordor didn't make up for how small the world felt, or how rote everything else was, or how poorly the done the story and characters were.
It did for me. It made it far more enjoyable from a gameplay perspective. Without it, it's a just an AC knock off and I wouldn't have even bothered with it.

Best Bombcast in a long time (actually LA Podfest was pretty amazing, but not really true Bombcast). It just felt like everyone was in a great mood and wanted to be there. Ryckert's stance on eating any animal except a Bald Eagle is exactly the kind of stuff I come to the Bombcast, and podcasts in general, for. It was really an exceptional episode though. My gf even sat and listened to the entire thing, and normally she checks out by the time news rolls around.

I'm so happy Drew is back! Ugh, Rorie's "insight" was REALLY getting to me.
Rorie is the worst. I often find myself cringing whenever he talks during UPFs. I get the feeling the rest of the crew feels the same way but they just put up with him. I'm sure hes a nice guy, but he doesn't really fit in with the other dudes.
