Without animated avatars the forum is much more pleasant to read. Banning them also has to do with being able to turn off avatars, in order to achive this they need to be hosted on the GAF server.

In one x-mas avatar thread I was helping out and also worked on this one. One of my favorite gif's I ever worked on (not that I made that many).

While that would be nice, it would probably be far too taxing on the mods to approve a gorillion animated avatars once the ban lifts.

Everytime someone puts a GIF as an avatar, a cute puppy or a cat dies, horribly.

The worst is when they don't even loop correctly, at least make the effort, GIF avatars are already jarring as it is.

It's fun to see the classics, but I don't really miss 'em anymore. I was irate when they were first banned, but there really were a lot of bad ones in the end.

I wish they would be temporarily re-enabled during December, though.
