I've heard that the situation is for guys is way worse in China because of the fucked up M/F ratio. He's probably desperate to find a girl before his parents take over for him. Desperation plus social awkwardness can lead to some amazing moments.

It is fairly well documented that human beings, in general, have a bias towards attractive individuals and attribute to them positive traits they don't necessarily possess.

This is true, but the effects are subtle. Attractiveness can easily alter our interpretation of mild or ambiguous stimuli. A good looking man might get away with flirty banter with a stranger while an unattractive person will be seen as a creep.

But the interpretation of more extreme behaviors will not be strongly affected by whether the actor is attractive or not. Being surprised by someone you don't like with a public declaration of love will be a negative experience, even if that person is objectively good looking but not attractive to you.

I have to side with Devolution and agree that the notion that attractive people get away with everything is probably more a defensive rationalization than an appropriate interpretation of the empirical facts of social psychology.

in most Asian countries isn't a guy doing a public display like this to a woman, basically, equivalent to pissing on her and declaring her 'his'? I mean if she just walked away and let this go wouldn't word have gone around that he and her are an item? I can understand why a girl would dump water on a guy for doing something like this, particularly if she's not interested.
