"A father killed himself and tried to kill his five-year-old daughter by jumping off a bridge onto a busy highway in front of shocked police and drivers Sunday night. "
Thank god the girl survived... as for the father? Well at least his crazy genes won't be reproducing again.... <insert additional cold callous jokes here>
I just vaguely heard details this morning on the way out the door, then I found out the story when I got to work. I remember driving down the DVP last night, and upon getting to the 401 mentioning to my wife, "gee, traffic seems alot more busy for a Sunday night doesn't it"? Now I know why.
This reminds me of the woman who dropped her 17 month old daugher off the Capilano suspension bridge in Vancouver. She fell something like 230 feet, and only suffered a few bruises.
I don't remember if they ever charged the woman with anything. They suspected that she dropped her on purpose because the baby suffered from Downs Syndrome, and the idiot was walking across the bridge carrying her on her shoulders!
" When police arrived "he leaped over the bridge either taking or throwing the daughter with him," O'Connor said."
Doesn't seem like first to me... then again she was probably a stunt woman in training(he didn't know) and during the fall was able to twist around and put him on the bottom... (which Austin Powers movie was that?)
Two women in a car, and Michael Nawrocki, who was driving a van, stopped on the bridge when they saw the man and child go over. "He threw her over and then he jumped after," said Nawrocki, who was driving south on Don Mills Rd.
The girl is 5 years old, I'm willing to easily bet that with proper care, and psychological treatment, she'll bounce back from this and lead a normal life.... until people ask her about her dad that is... <rimshot>
