I've been told by several GAF members to stay away from this thread and not to argue with several members that post regularly in this thread.
Would you girls mind explaining to me how so many users have come to dislike you?
You're gone, but you'll be back perhaps, or might be reading still, so I thought I'd bore you with my own memories of the things that have led to this current junction. I'm a guy by the way, at least I think I am.
So, there was girl thread 0.1. Which got banned for being too insular I believe [you have to understand, the community section has changed a lot since then]. I don't know the specifics actually.
Then there was girl's thread 1.0, and the boys were drawn to the thread like honey to the bee. How? why? we'll get to that but initially the attention was okay, it was a normal official thread kind of thread.
A couple of months later, Real Gaf happened, and well, it's fair to say, with real pics, the girls stood out a lot more. It was still okay - even though there was a lot of post views rather then actual posts. There were some (female) posters who wanted the thread to be kept more exclusive to girls, I think, but most were okay with whatever.
But then some pretty, shall we say... sexist threads started popping up, followed by other sexist threads, followed, by trolls trolling. Trolls trolled because the mods stepped in and closed said sexist threads. There was a rape thread too, iirrc.
In short, Girl thread 1 got a lot (and I really mean a lot) of attention. Real Gaf was exploding. I think I came in about here.
The girls just spoke their mind I suppose. More stuff happened. Creepy pms. And other stuff, I can't remember, but the important thing is, that the mods were talking in the background about what to do with the girl thread; lock it up or move it. Girl thread moved, and Real Gaf moved to the community section.
I recall some discussions about girls wanting their own thread for themselve, whilst others wanted the trolling to just stop. Just for one example, you'd have drive by troll posts.
My own opinion, overall, was: fair enough, let the girls have their own thread for themselves. But if I'm really honest, I just grew bored I think. Whatever the reason, I just completely forget about the thread.
Couple of weeks ago, I see a thread title. - Shall I compare thee to a summers day - thread 2. And, laying the truth on the table, I think I entered the thread cause of that annoying title.
The op seems to be female centric but not: Keep boys out. However, owing to the events above, there still exists a low tolerance for daft posts. The last couple of pages has me on one side, the girls on the other, and I'm still here. It's not deliberate, it's just how the debates have landed thus far. And as long as the debate is interesting, I suppose I'll hang around.
