So this past week I donated to my alma mater's library's videogame collection. They have a small collection (shown at link above) of newer games for newer systems, but solicited for donations and I responded.
For the moment, I've only given my Atari 2600 and Atari 7800 games, for a total of 120 games. Many had boxes and instructions. Full list is here.
If you know 2600 and 7800 stuff, you might see there are some pretty ok items there. I'd point in particular to the numbered limited editions of Okie Dokie and Qb. Not the system's finest games, but difficult to find items at the very least. I was surprised how many boxed 7800 games I had -- but then, they were more plentiful during the Best Electronics liquidation sales. The library also has a solid collection of more common Atari 2600 and Atari 7800 games, which are probably of more interest to normal people.
I also gave them a working Atari 7800, so they should have the means to play all the games I gave them right away.
Anyway, I figured it'd be worth sharing with people here. I hope to help them build a more full library of games over time. And, after all, I have several hundred more games to give...this was only 15% of my collection.
Anyone else here made a donation like this? Considering it?
