Gladius Appreciation thread.

I've been thinking of dedicating a thread to this game for some time, but I never got around to it.

Anyway, here it is.

A really neat mix of gladiator themes and swords/sorcery strategy. Also, a very fun multiplayer mode. Lengthy adventure too.

Presentation-wise, it left a bit to be desired, but the gameplay (if you weren't cheating) was very fun.

I bought the GCN version on day 1 (complete with bonus action figure) and my brother and I derived much appreciation from the game. I loved the side quests too!

Such a fantastic game world and very, very solid mechanics. Pity that it didn't light up the charts, as a more fleshed out sequel would have been amazing! Music was fantastic too!

I will lend my apperciation to the game, even if the OP was fairly subpar. It was a really unique take on the tactics genre, with the rythym minigames and all. I also enjoyed the setting's semi-roman with mythical creatures vibe. I wish it had been a bit more challenging, but agree that they needed a sequal to really hit the mark. Too bad that is not ever going to happen.

I kept wanting to pick it up from Sam's Club for $13 where there were a ton of copies, then when I finally decided to pick it up one day, it wasn't there anymore. Therefore I have nothing to contribute.

Loved this. Played through both campaigns each IIRC near 80-100 hours. Fantastic animation and great gameplay.

I bought it after being impressed with the OXM demo. It's a very mixed bag. For the most part it's fun. Graphically it's painful to look at. I never finished it. There was a battle against guards or something towards the end that was nigh impossible to get past, and I never did.

the one game from last gen that I wish would get a sequel, even though I know it will never happen. Great great game.

I had a copy of this on xbox a long time ago. plot development is pretty thin, battle mechanics are interesting but highly repetitive. You've seen pretty much everything the game's about an hour or two into it.

There are different "areas" but Don't expect to be blown away by enviroments- everything's an arena.

The ending is also highly unsatisfying- the game tries to set you up for a sequel that's never, ever coming at this point.

4 or 5 out of ten for me. (meaning AVERAGE or slightly below- I'm not IGN) worth a rental or a sub 15 dollar purchase.

'Cause I'm pressed for time I'm quoting myself from an old thread, but I just can't let a Gladius appreciation thread slip by.

Any SRPG fan owes it to himself to look into Gladius, regardless of the console itÂ’s on. Sometimes, when Lucasarts decides to leave Star Wars behind, they leave us with gems. Gladius is one of them. Infinitely customizable and as gloriously long as it is detailed, Gladius is like some methodical game from the era of bygones, waving sadly at you--it only wants to be noticed. HereÂ’s to you, buddy.

Maybe you have the wrong game? What I remember of it was very nice graphics for the time it was released and I don't remember anything about a difficult battle with guards in either campaign. The most difficult battles were against scorpians and the like deep into the game.

Edit: There was a battle vs some wizards (females?) in a temple and IIRC it was optional. Maybe that's what you're talking about and yes that was diifficult.
