Glen Campbell dead at 81

TMZ reports.

TMZ said:
Glen Campbell -- legendary country music singer best known for his 1975 hit, "Rhinestone Cowboy" -- has died after a long battle with Alzheimer's ... TMZ has learned.

Campbell died Tuesday around 10 AM in a Nashville facility for Alzheimer's patients ... according to a source close to his family.

The musician released more than 70 albums over a 50-year career, and had a series of hits in the '60s and '70s including "Gentle on My Mind," "Wichita Lineman," "Galveston," "Country Boy" and his best-selling single, "Rhinestone Cowboy."

RIP.

I'm not particularly big into country, but his body of work speaks for itself and I've always thought Wichita Lineman in particular is an amazing song.

R.I.P.

RIP

My parents (particularly my dad) loved listening to him while I was growing up so it was a part of my childhood. But not gonna lie, hearing "Southern Nights" in GotG2 was a pleasant surprise and very appreciated.

Alzheimer's is another terrible disease that I hope we find a cause and cure for soon.

RIP, Chanticleer.

Loved him in that movie as a kid.

His cover of "By the Time I Get To Phoenix" is a personal favorite. He also covered Jackson Browne's "These Days" (which I knew from Nico's Chelsea Girl album) in 2008 and it was a very pleasant surprise to hear.

When I was learning guitar I had played and sang Wichita Lineman and Rhinestone Cowboy a lot. Truly a legend. RIP.
