Resident Evil 4, Donkey Kong Jungle Beat, Tekken 5, Gran Turismo 4 (personal preferences aside), Mercenaries, Zelda: Minish Cap, Yoshi Touch & Go, and the PSP launch titles...

That's practically as good a lineup as my entire top ten was last year!
 
holy moley. Man i might say fuck it to my psp order and rebuy a pstwo and GoW (i previously sold my ps2 collection because i badly needed the cash). Besides, a PSP will be a major distraction since I can take it anywhere. At least my pstwo will have to stay at home. decisions decisions

I gotta agree with Bogdan. When I watch videos of this and think "OH BY THE SWEET TEETS OF MEDUSA!" I know that what I'm experiencing is merely the natural reaction to a video that was recorded off the framebuffer and then resized and smoothed out with artificial AA. That is the only explaination, nothing exciting here folks. Move along, move along.

I'd imagine that since last years Q4 was so packed alot of the games that were going to come out then got pushed to the 1st quarter of this year to give them a better chance of selling.

Listen, I understand he wants the best out of this but he must prepare himself for the fact that this horrific game might not live up to these wildly misguided expectations. :D
 
I don't understand all the hype about this game; the graphics suck, the animation is terrible, the storyline is appalling and the extremely long loading times do it no favours. This is a 3/10 at most.

Funny you mention that because that's exactly where Bruce Timm got the design from. He did a ton of drawings but was never happy with the face. Eventually a friend showed him a tape of that old Hercules cartoon and he thought it was perfect so he used it.

I believe that was only in the demo and review versions because the code wasn't finalized. I have it on good authority that the retail version will have much longer loading times. C- at best.

God of War am cry. Lets remind ourselves how bad this game is:


9.5 Presentation
Everything except the painfully obvious text prompts is great. Ditch those the next time around or suffer my wrath.

10 Graphics
Top of its class. The only thing more impressive than God of War's technology is God of War's art.

10 Sound
All of the sound could have been a part of Return of the King and it still would have won Oscars.

9.5 Gameplay
The platforming elements need to take hints from Sands of Time and the puzzles could do with a little more thought and a little less block pushing. Everything else is nearly perfect.

9.0 Lasting Appeal
Hey other developers! See all that wacky crap that opens up after you beat GOW? See how it's all candid and fluff free? Yeah, now you suckers do that, too.

9.8 OVERALL

I don't think so, for 2 reasons. It has violence, which is big with casuals, and its recieving a huge marketing campaign by Sony.

Have there been that many commercials? Honestly I didn't even hear about this game until about 10 days ago.

Everyone seems fixated on the PSP right now. I hope it does well, but I dunno, seems like it could fall by the wayside.

The game is starting to get a good bit of attention, but it is probably coming too late for initial sales to be huge. My guess is it will do modestly this month and the really catch on as word of mouth spreads. Should be a sleeper hit of sorts.
 
For my money, I'd probably prefer Ninja Gaiden and hurricane packs #1 and 2.

But yeah, respect to GoW.

Yeah, I mean I would consider myself to be pretty well informed on video games (much moreso than the casual joe), but this game honestly wasn't even on my radar until these reviews started coming out.

Plus its kind of a bad time to release a game like this IMO, with Gran Turismo 4 just coming out and the PSP launching this week.

My score: 7.5

I'm afraid my kid my play this at his friend's house and, quite frankly, that scares me.

When Jaffe was on this site (briefly), he really sounded excited about the game (and that includes that interview I read/watched as well). I've never seen a creator so excited about a game in awhile... really speaks leagues of the work him and his team did on this project.

This game went under everyone's radar... don't deny. As we got closed to GoW we all strated going: It's Good?!?!! It's Good!!!

Out today, eh?
