Godfather hands on and developer interview

Aye sorry about that, its not hands on but that was just a balls up on my part and not a genuine effort to fool anybody.

I'm boycotting this on principle.

If it's good then only you lose. ;)

That being said, I'm still scared that EA is involved in this project. I really hope they prove me wrong but I'm expecting a game that has really high production values, some really neat new twists on the GTA formula but overall falling short in fun and great gameplay.

Dude I don't care. It's a game based on the GODFATHER dammit. The fact that it's from EA doesn't even register. God himself could make a game based on the godfather and I wouldn't buy it.

Do you not like Godfather? I mean if it ends up being good and brings you into the Godfather universe, how could a fan of the movie possibly turn it down? I agree that the chances of this game even pretending to live up to the movie are 1-in-a-billion but still I wouldn't write it off yet.

I like how you think.

Azih, on what principle are you boycotting the game?

The existence of this game offends me deeply. I don't particularly care to examine why at the moment. I'll just enjoy the feeling of pure outrage.

Is it becuase the Film is thought as being such a defining moment in cinema and you feel a game based on such will have a negative impact on the film itself, especially if turns out being ordinary or poor?

Maybe it's because he feels the Godfather was about unromanticizing mobsters and their ruthless acts and demented members. And in this game, the very core is the opposite about what the movie's themes were.

Well the game has Coppola's blessing, and Mario Puzo himself once said that The Godfather isn't his favourite novel, he just wrote it to appeal to the masses because he was a struggling author at the time and needed to write something with more commercial viability.

I think I'm the only person alive who hasn't seen The Godfather :lol

And I have no urge to either!
Your'e not the only one. But if the game is any good i'll probably cheack it out,

I thought EA had a policy of not putting M rated games in their catalog. Didn't they say they wanted to become the Disney of videogames?

And I have no urge to either!
Watch it. It won't hurt you and you will probably really enjoy it. It's a high quality film, with some of the best acting performances in cinema.

EA said this will be an M rated game thus changing their policy a bit.

Exactly. The film is simply amazing... as is Godfather 2. Avoid part 3 though, nothing to see there.

Def Jam Vendetta

Either way this must be a new policy as they've had at least a couple of M rated PC games in the past

For a start, we're in a bar in New York's Little Italy district. That's pretty different, in itself, but it's not what makes this unique. What's unique is that James Caan and Robert Duvall are chatting about videogames on a small stage about four feet in front of me. I could, in fact, shuffle forward, reach out, and tap Colonel Kilgore himself on the leg, although cosy atmosphere notwithstanding, I'm sure that security would materialise out of nowhere to drag me away should I attempt such a thing.
I think today's thread on self-indulgant games journalism being shit is timed to perfection.
