Saros Hands-On Previews

"Gregory Louden, who joined Housemarque from Remedy Entertainment, dodged the question when it was recently put to him by Game Informer. "Today we're only talking about Saros and the launch on the PlayStation 5," he said during a recent interview. That non-answer comes as Sony has remained silent about growing reports that it's pulling back from bringing its single-player games to PC."

If you played Returnal you know this will be GOTY material, can't wait 👌
Exactly.

If I played 3 hours of RDR2, and deemed it's GOTY material it's fine but saying it over Saros is a no no.

Sometimes you just know when you put your hands on something that it's special.

There's a dick joke in there somewhere.

Watched a preview video and turned it off after 1 minute.

I've seen enough.

I bought Returnal on PS5 originally and then on PC later. It played and looked so good on PC. With Sony apparently pulling out of PC ports, that makes me sad for Saros.

Yea I won't be playing Saros til PS6. Housemarque one of the OG's of Sony games coming to PC with Nex Machina. Shame they never put out a 60fps patch for Dead Nation and Alien Nation on PS4, for PS5.

Just goes to show that gaming journalists these days are brain trained for short games.

Throw them a massive game and they tilt.

And yes I'm comparing these 3 hours in it's GOTY contender to Crimson Desert's 3 hours in, it's an horrible game that many reviewers tried to sell.

Anyway, I'm sure Saros will turn out good.
I mean, I don't think this is just a gaming journalist or "modern" gamers thing. Some people have always hated the idea that you have to play a game for 10+ hours to finally get to the part where it "gets good". That conversation has been a thing for as long as I can remember.

Is there any footage without commentary? From what I can hear the music kind of sucks compared to Returnal which is crazy. That game had an incredible soundtrack. Don't wanna jump the gun though and make sure.

The previews looks promising, saw some of them mentioning it seems to be a GOTY candidate. It's going to be a great year, we already got several awesome games and there are several more coming.

But sadly is one of those studios that everybody says posing to love their games, but then nobody buys them. Let's hope this time they finally have a big seller with Saros.

Waiting for that as well.

Housemarque said they'd talk about it closer to release, so I hope there's an audio/music video coming out soon.

I would take requiem but pokopia... naaaaah
Pokopia is literally the highest rated game this year so far. So...

On topic. I loved Returnal but the game was too "hard core" for me at the time having a 6 month old. Hardcore games like that are an even tougher sell with the kids being older. Hopefully they added some QoL type features to make it a more manageable experience. Would love to love it.

They did. They rebalanced and nerfed some enemies, and added a save functionality. Returnal is still a challenging game, but it's way more approachable today.

Yeah, I'll play it on the Pro but Sony essentially killed Housemarque for me. I've played all their games going back to the Amiga days, now it'll end after this one. 😕

Looks great. Day one.

I hope that after this, they try something else though. Can't help to wonder what they come up with.

Nex Machina was self-published by Housemarque, hence the day one PC release as well. It failed spectacularly, which is a travesty (seriously, if twin-stick shooters are your thing and you haven't played it, shame on you). Hence Returnal was kind of "make it or break it" moment for the studio. Glad that it went well for them, but if it wasn't for the Sony investment (and later acquisition), the studio would be probably dead by now.

No, it wasn't. Nex Machina was self-published by Housemarque when they were independent. They also released a PS4 exclusive (even to this day) published by Sony two months later, Matterfall.

Looks great.

Would like a PC version.

Wouldn't mind getting a next gen PS but not set in stone. If PC / Xbox wins the dilemma, this will remain unplayed.

The only tunes I've heard was some sort of combat music under the commentary and it was sounding pretty lame with bro guitar and shit. I'm hoping that was the "hype trailer music".

Returnal had some epic moments, awesome bosses, but it was a struggle to find that initial enjoyment after a bad run. I'm definitely interested in this. Returnal added that save feature, so QOL would make this a hundred times better than Returnal.

IMO the story sounds weird in Saros. The character looks forgettable. I don't hate it, but it doesn't feel like anything has weight to it. The female astronaut was a lot more interesting, but we shall see.
