Terrible first post.

The 2014 film was a perfect Showa Godzilla film.
Not perfect, I wouldn't have said that, but very good indeed.

I'm making a tribute short film based on King Kong vs. Godzilla for a local film festival. Was planning to enter it this year, but nice to know that if I miss the deadline I'm just making it more culturally relevant. :)

Here is the GAF thread where I heard about it: http://neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1202806&highlight=city+shrouded

WHAT THE FUUUUUUCCCKKKK

Horrible first post. You should feel ashamed. The only really bad things about that movie were it being previewed as a Heisei-era styled movie when it was actually a Showa-era styled movie, and
Cranston dying too early

If the marketing wasn't so misleading for G2014, I would have probably enjoyed it a lot more. They sold it like it was going to have the tone of the original Gojira or 1985, and that was not the case at all. Fucked up my expectations. I still enjoy the movie though, and actually like the MUTOs.

Reminder: Skull Island is coming out next year and will supposedly reference Monarch, the organization that was tracking Godzilla and the MUTOs. Before J.K. Simmons left the film, he had mentioned that it was set in the 1970s, making it prequel to Godzilla '14 in their big shared universe.

And that first post is legit awful.

People talking about the lack of Godzilla and whatnot. I thought of Godzilla (2014) more like the 1954 film, which didn't bother me one bit from that thought. Which is why I was fine with Godzilla not having much screen time. Even when he did, it was amazing.

It's why I'm expecting the second film to be more like the usual Godzilla films that came after. Plus we know that we're getting the actual monsters from Godzilla, with the best one appearing. ;)

I'm super excited for this Vs. film though! 2020 is so looong!

Human element is far weaker in G2014 though, especially once Cranston dies. If the characters were more fleshed out and interesting, then people probably would have complained less. I wish we got a movie half as good as the original Gojira. Still, Godzilla and MUTOs were dynamite. Loved any time they were on screen.

I want a Man of Steel Smallville like fight. Just pure DBZ action, 60 minutes long. No human characters or keep it to a minimum.

Between Godzilla and a power up gigantic Kong?

Ok but give them wings!!

The aftermath would be half a world destroyed....I like it, bring it.

:(

At least Shin Godzilla is coming and it looks pretty neat.

Do you remember that Juliette Binoche, one the greatest actresses of our time, was in the movie?
