Goemon DS new trailer!!

Looks great, highly anticipated. But I do wonder about those boss battles...it seemed like you had to keep switching between stylus controls and normal digital pad. I hope that works out OK.

yes, YES, Shit YES!!!

Goemon for the N64 was one of my favorite games back in the day.

I never watched or played a Geomon game. But that trailer rocked. I really liked the platforming elements.

havent played a Mystical ninja since SNES.. really enjoyed that game... the graphics on this look GREAT, plus the constant switching between the normal controls and the touch screen looks awesome.

This game will be mine!

I'm a bit worried about switching between touch and regular controls on the fly though. For that to work you would have to use one of your fingers instead of the stylus. I've tried that in the Metroid demo and the crosshair is all over the place. I hope konami have found a way around that.

Also. DS music capabilities < N64 music capabilities = confirmed?

Goemon DS + Castlevania DoS = DS purchase for me.

same :lol I want a DS but I want a coloured one. Sony gets my money first with the PSP

Um. I can't get the movie to play. Firefox. Is that why? (according to page source.. the file is a .wvx file?)

I am using firefox, just wait a awhile.

it played :) Look great. I think the touch access made the bosses too easy? I mean if all you gotta do is touch the screen to knock them down for you to attack... hmmm. Looks brilliant though The arrow + disc spinning bits are cool

Dash Dash Dash! Impact!

This game looks fantastic. Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon was great, but unbalanced. Goemon's Great Adventure was fun, but seemed repetitive (never finished it, though). This looks like the best of both (I'm sure it's not meant to, I'm just comparing it to my previous Goemon experiences). Great platforming gameplay but with lots of variety and uniqueness. If this comes to the US...

Sale +1

I'm with some of you whose last Goemon game was Mystical Ninja on the Super NES. I've gotta say, I wasn't too interested in Goemon DS 'til I watched this trailer. Now it's on my want list! It just screams old school -- I totally see shades of Mystical Ninja SNES in there -- and I'm beyond interested; Dare I say amped. :D

This game looks truly unique. What a brilliant idea. Like Viewtiful Joe DS, I don't think the still will be employed for the touch screen - we'll be using our fingers for this one - too quick to change between stylus and d pad otherwise.

Wow. The graphics look absolutely incredible. Konami has three awesome games now for DS. Thanks Konami. :D Man though more DS games need to have graphics like this.

When I came in here I wasn't expecting the game to look THAT good. Wow.

Still ain't gettin a DS though. Where's my Fire Emblem Dual Swords IS? More DS games should use the 3D models over gorgeous 2D backdrops technique.

Goemon, Lost in Blue, & Castlevania. I have thought that this was the best looking NDS game since the 1st screens were shown. Lost in Blue looks great as well, Konami seems to be the only 3rd party utilizing the touchscreen+enhanced visuals other than Nintendo themselves. Although Castlevania imo looks no better than its GBA counterparts, also its touchscreen use is the weakest of the 3.

Mystical Ninja was one of my favorite N64 games. Now this looks great. This is easily one of my most anticipated DS games.

....for fucks sake. Not even gonna bother anymore.

Did you do a comparison of some type MS? Just link me, I haven't truly examined them other than those EGM scans on OA awhile back.

Look at the videos of Castlevania. then come back and respond.

And of course konami is the only 3rd party really using the touch screen according to info we have at the moment; they're going all out with releasing info and stuff on all their big DS games. Capcom hasn't told us shit, Square Enix hasn't either, nor have Namco, really, aside from bits and pieces about Pac N' Roll.

Wow, long time Goemon fan here and that trailer was nothing but awesome to me.

However, I agree with the people that say the boss battle looks awkward, as it would be hard to touch the screen and jam the buttons quickly. But, they did implement touching into the game in neat ways like the spinning plates and whatnot.
I think Iga said in an interview about Castlevania DS that the ability to touch the screen is nice and all, but should be separate from the core action of a game and I agree completely. Well established franchises that we have come to know so well should be innovative with the DS and itÂ’s capabilities, but I think at the same time shouldn't try and alter the core gameplay away from what has been established to much just because they can.

And on a side note, at the end of the video there was a mini game that looked like an old NES game, where youÂ’re flying in space and need to make boxes out of line already on the screen, anyone know what the game was called?

There are comparison pics around, I even did it msyelf a bit, but I can't find them. Just have a quick look at the screens form the GBA versions and then the DS version (try to find them not blown up) and it'll be clear.

Aside from animation, Aria of Sorrow 2 rivals SotN, graphically.

Done. And you guys are correct. I never thought that Aria or the other GBA Castlevania games looked poorly. I simply did not think that Konami was trying to really enhance it's visuals, just saw some side-by-side SOTN & AOS2 comparative grabs. SoTN is my all time favorite, & AOS2 does look better.

They should come up with 2d brands of games: Touching, and regular. On the box they could have a Touch! sign if the game includes touching.

Goemon looks great, but it looks like they were forced to include some touching and that's going to screw up the entire game. Ummm, running around with the dpad and dodging things while drawing on the touch screen with your other hand DOES NOT WORK. Same with being in the middle of a platforming section and having to keep touching things. Jeezus, for the fireworks and robot battle it's fine but you don't have to use TOUCHING every second of the game.

I don't hate the DS for it's capablities, I hate the DS because it forces developers to screw up their own games.

It does not FORCE developers to do anything. That's the developers choice. I believe Nintendo stressed this freedom they were giving developers last E3.

Indeed Gaimeguy, but you also haven't played it yet bebpo so you would be passing judgment quite prematurely don't you think? We don't know how intuitive the interface is as of yet.

No one believes this, otherwise there wouldn't be such shitty touch screen usage on many games. You can quote Nintendo PR about it if you think that proves something.

That said, I hope it works. I love the Goemon series. If it was decent and brought over to the US I would seriously like to try it. I could be wrong but I thought several of the japanese games had some language intensive moments in them, so I hope there's a chance for localization.

I loved the SNES Goemon and played through the first N64, but failed to try the side-scrolling sequel that came a long a few years after. Also own the original Famicom game, although nothing beats the SNES release. This DS version definitely looks like a throwback to the SNES/NES games visually, which isn't necessarily bad. In fact, the 3D characters look amazingly detailed and animated. But I do hope Konami plans to release a Goemon game similar to the awesome 3D N64 one.
