"EA can make good games. The talent is there. The capacity to produce startlingly good fun titles undoubtedly exists within this behemoth of the industry, but the recent deluge of pathetically poor licensed tat like Prisoner of Azkaban, Catwoman and now this execrable excuse for a first-person shooter show that this talent is being absolutely smothered under a layer of incompetence somewhere, which is a terrible shame. And quite a lot of people will probably buy GoldenEye: Rogue Agent, which is also a terrible shame - because any game which even its creators clearly didn't love certainly doesn't deserve 35 quid of anyone's money."

2/10

EA giveth(good games)... and EA bombeth(bad games) away...

Is there a more schizophrenic developer/publisher out there?

This is looking worse than Driv3r.

How did EA get all that adveritizing money from Nintendo? I see the regular ad's on Spike TV only showing the GC version.

Which you have to admit, given Nintendo's current position, is pretty funny. It's a shame though, as I personally thought Everything or Nothing was really good.

Not on the same scale, but I find Treasue has a tendency of giving us pure brilliance one day and absolute fucking garbage the next.

Anyway, am I the only one who finds Eurogamer kind of crap? I don't know, I've had too many problems with too many of their reviews (and I'm not talking about the opinions presented) to care anymore.

EoN was awesome and Nightfire is still my favorite FPS this gen. But this is really bad. My bro rented it and I was really surprised that it's as bad as it is. As unpolished as Killzone is, this is even more unpolished.

It's nice to see the Nightfire love. Nightfire is very underrated IMO -- it's definitely one of my favorite FPS's this gen.

Nightfire and EoN are the only two Bond Games I own... Nightfire is a great, great title... I even thought AUF wasn't THAT bad... but Nightfire is better.

EA should let Eurocom make the next Bond FPS. They were the ones that did Nightfire and TWINE 64 so they're already proven that they know what they're doing.

I liked AUF too, but yeah, NF is definitely better. However, AUF's low-gravity, hook-shot, one-shot kill multiplayer in the Town > *

:D

IAWTP. Eurocom is making new Spyro and Batman games now, I'll hope they'll return to Bond games in the future.

Somebody hates this game more than me. I feel vindicated.

so what's the problem with rogue agent?

Shitty level designs are the worst of it, but yeah, it touches nearly all the crap-FPS bases.

DFS.

This game is going to be the ultimate disappointment for so many kiddies
this Christmas!

Somebody think of the children!

Eurogamer is a great review site. Not only are most of their scores spot on, their reviews are actually creative and interesting to read.

On another note, I have no clue what people saw in Nightfire. It's competent, but couldn't possibly be more bland. EoN at least had a few cool cinematic bits thrown in here and there.

So, with the atrociuosly bad reception this games getting, as well as the deluge of killer app level software, could it be that we finally get a Bond game with poor sales since the original Goldeneye? It would truly be ironic if the attempt to play off that classics name is the one that kills the franchise as a major profit centre.

Night Fire was punishing. I love how you could empty a clip into a guy and never know it because the game would rarely play the getting hit animations. If the original Goldeneye did one thing right it was that you knew whether or not the bullet hit the target. Not only that but the animation was case sensitive, like in Virtua Cop, to where on the body you hit them.

The tactile response of shooting the enemy is one of the most important things to get right and I don't think any of the EA Bond games have nailed it.

Poor level design. Almost all are just long series of hallways that go on for too long. Even when you're "outside" you're blocked off and are just walking down a pathway.

Poor enemy design. There's like 3 different skins for the enemies and they all act the same. Once you've beaten level 2 you've seen just about all there is to see.

Extremely slow gameplay. Like it's so bad, I could have sworn it must be slowdown at times. It takes FOREVER to turn around and move.

The eye powers are mostly useless except Shield and it takes so much energy you're forced to only use it instead of ever using any others.

The story makes no sense and the FMV cutscenes are of very poor quality.

Damn... That's ... Embarrasing...

I hope this isn't the game that EA Spouse's significant other was working on... That would just be.... Ouch.

It's something that's lacking in a large amount of FPS. That's one of the only things I didn't like about Nightfire. Other than that I thought it was the best Bond game since Goldeneye 64. I haven't had a chance to play EoN yet. Looking forward to it after I finish Halo 2, Metroid Prime 2 and many others.

That is one of the best negative reviews I've read since the days of Superman 64.

However, there's a niggling annoyance at seeing how much creative licence EA have been given with this much-loved franchise, only to produce such a shoddy and badly-conceived game; it's like watching a tramp drink a bottle of Middleton Very Rare whiskey or Bollinger champagne and then piss all over himself under a railway bridge.
