Section23 Films has announced on Friday that it is releasing the Golgo 13 assassin anime series for North America, with the first collection shipping in July. Licensed by Sentai Filmworks, Section23's release will have a new English dub.

The 50 episodes of the 2008-2009 Golgo 13 television series adapt Takao Saito's manga about Duke "Golgo 13" Togo, an amoral mercenary assassin who takes on assignments on almost every continent in the world. Shogakukan's Big Comic magazine has been serializing the title since 1968, and the 156th compiled manga volume has shipped this month. Viz Media has published 13 graphic novel volumes in English, under its Viz Signature imprint, since 2006. The manga was previously adapted as a live-action movie (Golgo 13: The Kowloon Assignment) and two animated movies (Golgo 13: The Professional, Golgo 13: Queen Bee). Worldwide Pictures released an English-dubbed version of the live-action movie, and Urban Vision released both animated movies with English dubbing and subtitles.

Section23 Films also releasing its second Eyeshield 21 collection on July 6, the Legends Of The Dark King Complete Collection on DVD and Blu-ray on July 20, and the second Hell Girl: Two Mirrors Collection on July 27.

Will buy. I only saw the first 8-9 episodes but it seemed true to the manga: lots of setup, a couple minutes of Duke being Duke, cool music etc.
