Good Sources on the Troubles?

I've become recently interested in learning about the late 1900s Troubles in Northern Ireland and the surrounding areas. Is there a good source to read about them, or at least a good writeup of what happened? They seem like a very interesting period in the United Kingdom's history, especially with how tensions managed to simmer down so much by the modern day. As an American who's never been to Europe, I never bothered to learn much about this time period, and I want to fix that.

Any recommendations by History-GAF?

I can recommend the three books about the Troubles by Peter Taylor, a British journalist. Each of them covers a different side of the conflict.

- Provos (nationalists)
- Loyalists (unionists)
- Brits (British)

There are a lot of memoirs from people involved in it in various capacities but yeah, I don't know of an authoritative book covering the whole period like you can usually find for historical conflicts. Maybe it's too close and too raw for anyone to feel like they can do an impartial account.
