The part with the Arial is because they diverted all the inlets to irrigation for cotton plants.

I thought it was really cool. I'm not sure why this would be depressing unless you didn't realize these changes already. In that case, I can see why it would stir up some feelings. Invest in carbon capture, that's my strong recommendation. Even with sharp cuts in green house gas emissions, we could tolerate speeding up the removal of these gases to help stabilize the climate sooner.

But yes, its destruction is further proof humanity is a plague on earth. And people still pop out babies like it's nothing. Also, the effect we have on rivers is horrible. Also the Tigris and Euphrates are practically drained in the birthplace of civilization, Mesopotamia.

I hate what they are doing to the Brazilian Rainforest. Really grinds my gears.

A lot of unique tech being built to help make things more sustainable but not sure it is enough considering the population explosion. Great video.

Saw the title and knew this wasn’t going to be a inspirational video like it might have been 20-30 years ago haha

Oh please spare me this whiny, self aggrandized bullshit. Take your misanthropic nonsense and shove it directly up your ass.

This post right here, could be injected in the speech bubble of the guy on the right.

Way to miss the point champ.
What point am I missing genius? You’re not a subsistence farmer, which is what the comic your smug ass is comparing you to. You’re a comfortable first world asshole whining about how humanity and consumerism is destroying the world from the comfort of your boujee lifestyle. You’re completely full of shit.

Dont give me that shit. Your silent "participation" is exactly the cause!

"Global warming, rain forrest, oh the poor rivers are drying up."

But are the first to stand in line for the latest iPhone, sippin your Starbucks latte with your new leather shoes.
Man, you guys are mad af.

There isnt a way to improve the deforestation, lessen the use of fossile fuels and trying to improve the planet upon we live, yet also have leather shoes (which I dont wear), coffee (which I dont drink) and iPhones (I havent owned an Apple product since the iPod 2dn gen but ok).

Your irrational hate towards people who want to improve the planets health is clearly showing, and you are showing your ass with some dumbass remarks about coffee and iPhones when that wasnt even the conversation started in the OP.

Who said YOU are killing the planet? I didnt, and neither did anyone else in this thread dude. Calm the fuck down.

Breh, you mad af. For me making an observation. How am I 'whining' when I am stating the fact that humanity is destroying the planet?

Consumerism? I never even brought that up, you did. Calm the fuck down.

Aside from your copieus assumptions, you dont even know where Im from dude.

Its hypocritical.

You can't have both.

iPhones + plastic bottled spring water = no right to bitch that artic ice is melting or rivers are drying up.
I understand, but that is because iPhones are made from shit that costs our planet.

Who is to say we cannot make a device in the future that operates differently or is made from shit that doesnt impact the environent that much?

I am not an expert, so maybe its not possible but it would be better.

Bottles water can fuck off, thankfully in The Netherlands the water from the fawcet is actually good stuff so I never buy it.

But yeah the way we produce things now is detrimental to the earth I totally agree, that is why I am saying we as humanity should try to improve things.

Personally? I eat meat, i drink water, I use an android phone, I bike to work everyday and sit on my ass behind my pc doing CSS.

Not saying I put my best foot forward but as humanity we should strive towards it, and I really dont understand how that could be a opinion anyone can disagree with (or rage about).

How can you be against improving the planets health 😂 what kind of special idiot do you have to be? Idgaf consumerism.
Improving the planet’s health is one thing. We have people in this thread calling humanity a plague. That’s ridiculous bullshit. Perhaps I lumped you in with them when I shouldn’t have. So I apologize.

But people like this guy:
He's right though.
Are misanthropic assholes.

Well humanity is certainly not a plague, I can agree with that. But we are multiplying rapidly, and using up the planet in our wake. In a very short period (so basically these last 100 years) we have done quite a bit of damage to the planet and its ecosystem. I dont think anyone can deny that right?

But in some ways Humanity is a bit like a parasite. At least these past 100 years. Industry has a huge impact on earth. We are kinda mooching off it no?

Honestly I dont mean no harm, everyone should live their life how they want to but it would be better if humanity (and im talking about the smartest among the smartest) could develop ways to lessen our impact on the planet and its ecosystem.

Thats all im trying to say bro!

The Google images were selectively chosen to illicit a response that we're destroying the planet.

But Google is the Big-Tech equivalent of the liberal pic I posted. Hypocrites to the utmost level.

That is what is enraging.

But we are though. Slowly. I dont need Google to show me that though, I already knew that myself by logical thinking.

Google is pretty hypocritical but personally I havent even researched if they do anything "green" or you know what kind of initiatives they have, they must have some at least. But I honestly couldnt tell you.

Humanity is more important to me than the planet. I realize there is a symbiosis, so I’m not saying trash the planet. But if we are choosing between letting people die or pollution, I’m on the side of human beings.

We can and should learn to take better care of this place. But we should not stunt human advancement to appease some Mother Earth bullshit. We can find a balance. But assholes who think humans should disappear can start with the person they see in the mirror. Anyone running around talking about people having too many kids in the 1st world can direct their complaints to Southeast Asia and Africa.

Yeah like U said I think we can find a balance. Lets be honest, there are too many ppl on the planet. Some shit like China where they have so many cities with millions living in them, I dunno that cant be good for the planet.

In fact it would be better if the weak, fat and diseased people died off so humanity can perfect itself as a race.

But you know thats not gonna happen unless we solve shit like diseases, weaknesses etc get solved.

The world is gonna suck ass if all there is left is megacities, pollution and barely any trees, wildlife and shit.

I dont really go out on nature trips or anything, but it would be a shame if that shit all died off.

I dunno, thats just me. On one hand a mega city civilization like Judge Dredd sounds cool but if its at the expense of the planet then I dunno man

Holy SHIIIIIIIIIIIT.

Ever heard if this dude named Hitler????

You seriously need to go rethink your worldview on humanity and the value of life.

This stuff takes care of itself at some point. Most first world populations are flat. It’s the 2nd and especially 3rd world where you’re seeing the booming numbers. It definitely looks like if you raise the standard of living high enough, population begins to level off. So ideally we would continue to raise the standard of living without destroying the planet. Technology will hopefully make that possible. It does seem like we’re on the precipice as a species where we either come up with the answers to these problems and enter a golden age, or we don’t and fall into catastrophe.

What? I am not saying we should kill them. I am saying it would be better if those people didnt exist. Better for humanity.

Or if the causes that caused those issues not be present anymore (which would be best).

How can you say that it wouldnt be better for humanity if we didnt have obesity, diseases etc?

We are watching the Fermi Paradox unfold in real time and we must pass the great filter or we will destroy ourselves. Technological breakthroughs are the only hope but we can also strive to find more symbiotic ways to live with the world. What we are doing now is very parasitic.

Global problems will require global solutions at the level of not just government, but multiple governments. The fallacy is that individual people picking slightly better light bulbs or recycling some pop cans is going to make a difference. The truth is it is going to take leadership from the very top organizing the planning of multiple countries and corporations to fix the issue. Ever heard of the tragedy of the commons? Focus on leadership action at the top, not individual people using a phone.

Am I wrong? Humans are directly responsible for the 6th mass extinction event in earths's history. I'm sorry if the fact that we're responsible for the destruction of the planet triggers you. Next time I'll be sure to put a warning beforehand.

All the fools in this thread being triggered by the simple truth desperately need to get a sense of scale and perspective. Our means of industrial mass production have gotten to the point where they are massively impacting our planet.

I don't think you realise why we have so many fat people. Here's a hint: it's because we've made life so easy for ourselves. When we're dominating as a species, we get fat. It's a symptom of prosperity. It's a sign we've beaten our environment into submission and are living easy lives. We'll never be a race of exclusively physically fit people because the reason we're thriving is technology...and you don't need abs of steel to push a button, pull a lever or code.
