It better be. All of this headache and the phone is mediocre? Not good for one's blood pressure.

The initial impressions are promising. Everyone is gleaming over the premium feel, camera, and of course Lollipop. The only unknown right now is battery life, which I have high hopes for if the Note 4 is anything to go by.

Everyone missed it. It was never announced and literally only available for 30 seconds on the website. I was refreshing this thread. Someone said it was available. I immediate go to the site and sold out.
If there's one thing Apple does right, it's their launches. Google is like a hipster that high trying to do some pseudo launch.

Yeah I'm sure it's good. I'm just venting right now. I think the battery life will be good, since it was a bullet point feature of Android Lollipop.

I'm sad :(

Edit: You know, it's very odd that they never announced anything.

Their twitter account announced both the Nexus 9 and Nexus player preorders going live.

They've been completely quiet today. I wonder what gives.

I honestly just can't get my head around why the fuck Google can't handle a hardware launch worth shit even after 3-4 years of experience? How can they be such a great company but yet so incompetent at something as simple as maybe...keeping a list of back orders instead of instantly shutting down the sales after...30 secs to a minute?

Google doesn't give a shit about their hardware sales. It's the OS, what they care about.

If there's one thing that remains consistent about new nexus phones is the fact that google can't get a launch right.
What? I don't know how you can classify pre orders as a launch. Launch window...I guess. But for the sake of the argument let's say this was the nexus 6 launch. How did they do it wrong? The pre orders went live, they sold out and we're closed. Were there issues with the ordering process? Not that I know of. The launch itself went, as far as I can tell, smoothly. The way google handled it may not be how you want it to be but that doesn't mean that it was done wrong. Now, while we're still in the mindset of pre-orders being launches lets look at the almighty apple launch. http://iphone.appleinsider.com/arti...hone-6-preorder-problems-from-crushing-demand. Yeah...

I'm not a fan of how Google does it either and would like to see some changes, but I just can't agree with all the hate this "launch" is getting. I hope a lot of it is just over exaggeration due to frustration. I've definitely been guilty of it myself many a time.

I think the frustration is from lack of communication and supply. Even with the rocky iPhone 6 pre orders you were still able to order one for over an hour after they went up, and you could order from Apple or any carrier at the same time. With this launch it was just from Google with no heads up and was sold out in under 1 minute. They must have only had like 1000 phones to sell.

They may have been better off building up supply and launching pre orders the same day as the carriers did in order to allow more than 6 people to actually give them money.

Aside from iPhone's not a single phone launches at a set time on a set day cross-region.

Most phones just become available and when they do you can buy them, that's it. I think that just because it's a Google phone, people expect it to be an Apple-like product in every way, when it's just a Motorola product and will be launched like every other Motorola phone, it's not available until one day it is.

Calm down. Sheesh. It's just a phone. It sold out. You'll still be able to buy it.

64GB white was in stock for...had to be less than 10 seconds about 10 minutes ago. Tried to order but wouldn't let me add to cart :(

I think you are seeing things, lol.

It tripped the page monitors I had running on two machines...first time I've seen an add to cart button, otherwise I've only had the monitors trip when the text changed from "we are out of inventory" to "this item is not available"...

I would write one, but it would take me forever because I'm not a web guy, could you share/link your monitor? :P

the whole process can be amateurish at times, the lack of information/communication, the randomness of the actual shipping at least in previous years, and other small stuff like that which add up. Just stuff that shouldn't be an issue with big companies.

Indeed. This reminds me more of when hackers make announcements and releases, than an official company releasing a product.

It all seems a bit arbitrary and unstructured.

That's the thing though. What makes it amateurish? It's different sure. Polarizing to many. But amateur? I just don't get that. They said pre orders would be on the 29th and they were. Where's the lack of communication? Sure they didn't say how many would be available but how many companies do? They didn't tell you what time exactly but they don't have to. A company doing something different doesn't make it amateur.

I consider a faulty stream amateur, I consider a faulty update amateur, I consider a pre order system riddled with technical issues amateur. I do not consider a pre order system that runs smoothly and as intended amateur.

I'm curious, just to pick your brain a bit, what do you think of Google's dress code or their office culture in general. Do you consider that amateurish? Even today with multiple large companies adopting a more casual work environment many people consider anything but a shirt and tie unprofessional, amateurish, even lazy. But I don't. I think it's simply different. Just like their pre orders.

I hate this so much. I'm so glad as a programmer I get wear flip flops and a t-shirt every day.

Edit: Anybody seen one pop up today?

Is the Nexus 6 significantly more powerful than the Xperia Z3?

Yes, but it doesn't matter.
1. It has a QHD screen to suck up that extra power from the 805
2. All newer phones are more than powerful enough to make a noticeable difference. What DOES make an impact though these days, is the software OEMs put on them....

I'm not a web guy either. I'm not doing anything fancy to try to order the phone automatically or anything. For Firefox try Check4Change (if you donate it'll send an email, which you can use with a Gmail label + custom notification on mobile, which is great if you're not a home and it's going to be in stock for a few minutes), for Chrome try Auto Refresh Plus (which is useful if you're going to let your computer do this while you are working, I probably pressed the add to cart button within 5 seconds of the alarm going off since I happened to be working last night, but it was still too slow :p)

I don't use pushbullet.

I ended up just cloning this and modifying it for linux :P

No. Its somewhat powerful but not significantly.

Processor = 801 vs 805 = Not a huge difference and an average person wont notice this in general use

Screen = QHD vs FHD = Z3 doesn't have a QHD display but its still extremely good for any user. QHD doesn't make a huge difference at the 5-6' screen size.

OS = Stock vs Sony UI = This would be the major difference between both devices. Do you want stock android or sony's android skin? Both have their pros and cons so your decision should be based on which appeals to you more.

I'm leaning a lot towards N6 because of stock android and google's instant updates. The only thing that worries me is the device's size and its price in canada (799 without tax and shipping). The price especially is very hard to swallow.

Looks like the free Google Music promotion stuff is off the Nexus 6 buy pages. They are clearly working on these pages sometimes, but still no updates.
