They want a federal amendment to the constitution that would outlaw all abortions.

The Republican Party is once again set to enshrine into its official platform support for "a human life amendment" to the Constitution that would outlaw abortion without making explicit exemptions for rape or incest, according to draft language of the platform obtained exclusively by CNN late Monday.

Also, they want to salute states that have pushed mandatory ultrasound and waiting period legislation.

Republicans have also inserted a "salute" to states pushing "informed consent" laws - an apparent reference to ultrasound bills that have moved through some state legislatures - "mandatory waiting periods prior to an abortion, and health-protective clinic regulation."

It bothers me that they can't make it clear enough they have absolutely zero respect for the choices of women and people still vote in their demagoguery.

Come on, you're gonna tell me they will trot this out at the convention after what Akin said? My mind is full of fuck.

Y'know, I should be outraged and expect something like this to be unbelievable in f'n 2012... but sadly, it's really not. The GOP are that crazy.

Are you guys really shocked by this?

Really?

The shock is that these people have a chance to pull this off. Its not just something we can all laugh at and continue ahead. Its so amazingly blatant and disgusting. Its ridiculous. And I'm sure women will just go ahead with this, to support their parties special interests, for this round.

women vote for them, a lot of them.

That's why I said people. As cynical as I am it never ceases to amaze me how selfish some women are, they'd get an abortion for themselves (or their daughters) but fuck the other ones who need it or god forbid we have healthy safe medically sound environments in which to get them.

Wonder what the dude I saw on TV this morning running for state senate will do now since he wants the R next to his name but feels that allowing women the choice to opt for an abortion before week 6 would be something he would allow if it would get the Ds and the Rs closer to working on the issues that are ACTUALLY affecting this country/state/ect and not personal/"moral" issues like abortion or gay marriage.

Add the states that want women to get death certificates for their miscarriages to this and yeah, this is pretty much going full tilt on the fuck women platform.

Wouldn't it be so much better for humanity if women could only get illegal abortions in the most squalid conditions? I like to think of medical complications as God's way of teaching us a lesson.

Some numbers to emphasize this,

Unmarried women went for Obama 70 to 29 in 2008
Married women went for Mccain 50 to 47
Women overall went for Obama 56 to 43

"Fuck you, I got mine" isn't just an economic slogan.

absolutely, and im republican. My party has just gone off the fucking deep end :-/

Then disavow them if you don't want to be associated with the madness. The GOP has crossed the event horizon and they're only going to spiral deeper into bigotry, social injustice, and religious fanaticism.

You know, 4-5 years ago. I was very much, "Well people have disagreeing points" and "Politics are politics". Largely annoyed and disinterested in it.

Now, I just can't understand it. Are people honestly this fucking stupid?

Republicans should just hand out t-shirts with metal coathangers on them for their party members. Also I guess Akin just jumped the bandwagon and we should have expected this after the elections.

I kinda agree with this. Republicans that are disgusted by what their party is doing really should consider another, more legitimate, party. Its like actively registering and supporting the Mafia, but saying you frown upon being tossed in the ocean with cinderblocks affixed to your feet. Yet, you still support it as a whole.

Right?

Romney has also said in the past he supports a life an conception constitutional amendment.

Oh I know Romney contradicts himself on this all the time.

I simply find it hilarious that he JUST said he wouldn't do anything about limiting abortion in the case of rape or incest in response to the Akin comments.
