Got my Famicom GB micro! (cool box inside)

Man I can't wait to get mine. Ordered from Play-Asia, usually when I order from them I get it two days later. I must have that!

I'm just gonna put the Famicom II faceplate over my silver Micro. I just have a feeling a Marion or Samus faceplate is around the corner.

The metallic body is painted (btw it's scratchable) or is coloured-metal?
I've read somewhere shoulder button are plastic painted with DIE-CAST paint. Is it right?

Thank you for the support Fowler!! :lol

I think it's painted. I'm not going to scratch it to find out! And I have no idea what DIE-CAST paint is.

pkasho, yeah, this is actually metallic.

Mac the Knife, it (like all Game Boys) is region-free.

Fowler: did you buy any extra face plates, and are there any cool ones available? The only one i've seen is the Famicom II one available from Club Nintendo.

I didn't see any faceplates available. I actually didn't see any accessories, but that's not terribly surprising -- with early releases it's usually just the consoles and a few games that hit first.

AB, the nano is indeed sex. But the micro tugs at you in a different way. Where the nano is flat-out COOL, the micro gives me warm pangs of nostalgia.

Of course, once Apple put Tetris Attack into the nano, it's all over :-P

wow major props for NOJ that boxart is fan-fucking-tastic, why doesn't NOA release shit like that here :( fucking bastards.

I wasn't interested in the GBA micro but that is too damn hot. Me want one.

anyone know if the nes gba sp sold well? i'd probably get a micro too if they made a nes version.
Looking at what the GBA sold in May 2004 (268,684) compared to June 2004 (520,905) when the NES SP was released, I think it did quite well. Maybe we can ask sonycowboy for the LTD of the NES SP since he's given totals for individual GCN bundles recently.

EDIT: Oops, I inserted the GCN's numbers by mistake. Fixed.

Screw you Nintendo. I’m not getting another GBA iteration. I don't care how hot-neon-sexy it is!

and a smaller screen? *tsk tsk*

Fowl, you didn't show the slick little carry pouch it comes with! Very smart of Nintendo...

I didn't include it because I don't really think it's slick :-P It's way huge! The micro is way tiny! Make a smaller pouch, damnit!

For us US people who import this, will/can we buy an adapter to use our GBA SP power adapters in to charge it? The imported Famicom one comes with a Japanese only adapter, does it not?

BTW, because of your post on 1UP, I just had to order one for myself as well. It's in transit right now. I just want to be able to USE it when it arrives.

Thanks.

Why are you looking to use a GBA sp power charger for the GBm? The one that comes with the famicom GBm import or any import GBm for that reason, it comes with a perfectly fine power charger that works just fine in the US. Actually all japanese products will work fine in an US outlet, and vice versa.

Just buy the import GBm and forget about buying some kind of adapter.

If they "Just work", why do they make adapters to upconvert or downconvert? I just have a hard time believing the Japanese AC Adapter will just work.

Anyway, forget the adapter. That was a brain fart of mine. I forgot they'd sell an adapter specifically for the micro. Silly me. I wasn't using me noggin. :lol

Still, I don't know about the "Just work" thing.

Yes, that's for using the US GBm in Japan. But obviously I'll need to get something because unless the thread poster can confirm differently, I'm thinking the Famicom Micro comes with a Japanese power plug.

You ever notice how are GBA/DS adapters have writing in both English and Japanese? They use the same one.

It will work. It's called an adapter for a reason.

The GBA SP plug is exactly the same in the US and Japan. I haven't seen the US Micro yet, but I assume it's the same deal.

I've been using Japanese systems and AC adapters in the US and vice-versa for almost 15 years -- and I've never had a problem once.

North America and Japan both run on 110v AC, the plugs are also identical. The 220v adapter is for Europe, the rest of Asia, etc.

Exactly what he said... I have had import SNES, N64, GBAsp, GC, PS2, PSP, and all of them work fine with the outlets here. So stop worrying and just import the GBm famicom and enjoy it.

Japan is actually 100V, but due to the tolerance that must be built into electrical products, they work fine in both countries.

BUT, don't they have a totally completely different plug? That is my question. Voltage doesn't matter if you can't fit the plug in the slot.

No, it will work fine - I got a famicom micro last week and it plugs in my wall outlet with no problems. The ac adapter even says JPN/USA right on it, so it's probably the same one that comes with the US micro.

Well, then. If that's true. I'm 200% happier! Can't wait!

This'll be the first thing I imported that wasn't a game (Thus it has to plug into the wall) so I wanted to make sure. I wanted to see if I was going to have to take a trip to GameStop next week.

NZ am cry :(

A famicro wouldn't charge here, and the micro isn't out yet, so I can't get a charger.

Interestingly, I have a Nz, HK, and JP charger for DS/SP. The Jp one has Japan/US on it. And it folds up - dinky! The HK one is a true monstrosity - poor Brits.

Whoo! My Famicom Micro arrived this morning. I love its look. I used to not like the Famicom look, but the maroon and gold grew on me. It's very shiny. Very very shiny. Much better looking than pictures can do.

I seriously hope the US gets an NES version so I can buy a companion for my Famicom one. :D

I can't say anything else that hasn't been said about it, so yeah. It's awesome.
