Man I'm going to be honest it with you, I think you are in denial on purpose because you want the game to be good. And I want that too and if it were just by that trailer you posted I think it would be. But I also think that those devs are as woke as milk is white.

Does that mean the game will fucking suck? No, it doesn't have to, but seeing them make such a fuss about the 5 women npcs when the game is full of men who all they do is slave away at a mine just to later get shanked for protection money day after day... Imo they devs are either woke or pulling a marketing stunt with all this. Not a good sign in any case.

But even then, I'm not throwing any baby into the acid tank just yet. I just got done playing the original game and while I had a lot of fun I also saw it's flaws, how half-baked it was and the extreme potential it has for a remake. I sure hope that you are right and the game ends up being super cool, but right now, if I had to bet, I wouldn't be so sure.

I don't think the women NPCs were a weak aspect of the game nor a flaw lol. The game takes place in a very dire setting and the presence of woman slaves is as justified as the presence of male slaves.

I just played the game and if it were me, I'd fix the combat, the lack of sidequests after the first chapter and the pacing of the main quest which is too fast in the original (imo).

Could be the case, and it's so damn sad man. Gothic sure could use a remake that adds more faction sidequests after chapter 1 and improves on the main story pacing. Having some more sidequests with the pals (Diego, Lester, Milten and Gorn) would be very neat as well.

Looks like it's a similar thing Ubisoft once did with Far Cry 3 which was a bonus to Far Cry 5 Season Pass and was made available later as a standalone release to purchase or Naughty Dog when they gave away an earlier release of Jak and Daxter 1 with Uncharted Lost Legacy. Gothic 1 Classic is added not only for physical copies but also if you pre-order it digitally. If you do that, Classic is already available to download and playable

Just played through Gothic on the TV with a controller. No official support, but with Steam Input that's not a problem.
Imo both Gothic 1 and 2 play super fine with a gamepad.
