Er... what's the difference between 'record of the year' and 'album of the year'?

Outside of some very deserved nominations for American Idiot, and some representation from Kanye West, the rest of the major award nominees are bullshit. Alicia Keys? Usher? I mean, these are the people who gave Album of the Year to the soundtrack from O Brother Where Art Thou and no Van Lear Rose?

Get down in the Rock categories and all is well...but the major categories are pathetic outside of aforementions exceptioned.

Album is album, Record is the production and entire presentation of a single song, whereas Song of the Year is simply songwriting.

Agreed... everytime I listen to that album I grow to like it more and more. (Just figuring out that it's a concept album blew my fragile little mind. I'm such a sucker for that artistic crap.)

WHY WHY WHY

I have no faith in the Grammy's anymore really. I haven't for a while. The whole music industry sucks balls, and the Grammy's are just an extension of that.

If Wonderwall cover by Ryan Adams wins for solo rock performance while the original was only nominated.. I'm calling shenanigans.

Slipknot deserves to win that one.

Bright Eyes for album of the year in 2005. I can feel it.

Any idea when this is coming out?

For some reason I thought it had already been released, but I wasted trip to Best Buy yesterday proved me wrong. :(

I haven't listened to much outside of "Lifted", but that's easily one of my favorite albums ever.

I disagree. I think that Vermillion was a lackluster effort- for Iowa, or their first one, I could see... Vermillion just isn't a good listen.

Now, the Killswitch Engage album is sweet.

Two albums! January 25th! Be there, or be square!

Iowa was a piece of shit. Vermillion slaps it with a 10 foot cock.

Juno

LIAR and a FELON
Typical mainstream stuff I have no interest in nominated for the big awards. It's always cool to see some of the smaller award lists. Stuff like Wilco, Modest Mouse, Killswitch and Ryan Adams getting nods kinda makes up for it...

Well, the Grammy is for best metal song...CoF and KSE's nominations are for the song of the same title as their record. Slipknot's nomination is for the song Vermilion, which is good, but not great. Vermilion Part 2 is MUCH MUCH better.
But, as far as the entire CD, it blows anything else they've ever made out of the water. Their ST was really really good, Iowa sucked all kinds of ass, and Vol. 3: The Subliminal Verses is great.

But, as far as simply the best song out of:

Cradle Of Filth - Nymphetamine
Hatebreed - Live For This
Killswitch Engage - The End Of Heartache
Motörhead - Whiplash
Slipknot - Vermilion

I like "Live for This" the most, personally. But that being said, I'm still rooting for CoF

I actually like Vermillion a bit more than Part 2. But "Circle" owns them both. God I fucking love "Circle."
