Gran Turismo 4 Delayed in PAL land?

thank god for that - with R&C:UYA, JAK 3, paper mario, halo 2, halflife2, pikmin 2, baten kaitos, tales of symphonia, fable, fire emblem, four swords, crystal chronicals and doom 3 either pre-ordered or partly played i'm gonna busy enough over xmas anyway..

Other dates seem to be fairly locked in. Promotions have already started in the US, and they're selling alot of GT4 stuff on their Japanese website:

PAL will likely get the LE version thats coming out in Japan, it comes with a Making of DVD.

We (European Guys) should have known this would happen. PAL / Europeans are always fucked. Every F*&^%g game made in Japan will be released in with a delay of 3 months or more. Final Fantasy almost a YEAR!!!!!

Why, why was i born in the wrong "game" continent

You gotta be kidding me! But sure if it comes with a bonus DVD I can wait. Exclusive editions are always worth the wait :)

But what game am I gonna get this fall beside Halo 2... hmm..

Perhaps we will receive the online version directly...

You would have millions of Americans swimming over to Europe if that happen, weapons in hand. :P

Thx Deepthroat. Surprised by that, Capcom are usually good for quick release dates in Europe. Street Fighter Anniversary on Xbox is meant to be getting released next week for example, with Live support!

Shit..if I buy a new set of Sparcos they're going in my Integra GSR, not in my living room :p

Actually I think the Pal schedule is more balanced through the year than others schedules.
What's the sense of releasing 10 AAA titles in a two month period and then having 3-4 months of nothing.

Then something else should've been bumped. GT's bigger in Europe than any other series, including FIFA and GTA.

The blue chair one does not look very sturdy. Seems like the frame would flex durring play.

I tested one 2 months back on a game event. Its not bad and the racing seat gives u a real comfort uhmmm ... seat :). 2 bad u cant feel the G-forces.

GT4 isn't delayed yet, the 'sometime in december' date still holds.
At least according to SONY at the end of last week.

We'll se though...

Give it up. Everyone's been saying the delay of the last year was for online play. Online code isn't that difficult. I'd be willing to wager with anyone that the reason it was difficult was this: Sony wanted to implement a pay system like LIVE and to do that, it had to launch with the one game that was capable of getting people to bite the bullet. This system is more difficult than they thought, hence GT4 loses online play till they can get it right. Just my opinion, but I think I'm right about it.

My guess is that yeah, the online mode was supposed to be some kind of big, complex production that they could never actually get out the door. Polyphony has a history of envisioning much more than it can actually achieve -- Yamauchi's E3 2000 presentation was all about about how amazingly life-like the AI in Gran Turismo 3 was gonna be. Yep, that definitely made it into the finished game...

I wonder, is that the back end of any old Ford GT, or is it the back end of Yamauchi's personal Ford GT?

Probably his own, he seems to like showing off his cars. His black 350Z looks awesome.

We shoulda asked what color he got when he was yacking about it at E3.

My favorite's his S2000, the one he tricked out for circuit racing. Fucking gorgeous.

No, that's just a Polyphony-sponsored Spoon model. Shit, my pics of the Opera-sponsored version he drives are all on the old 1UP...gimme a sec...

Okey, this is Yamauchi's personal S2000. Came off the lot bone stock, that's all aftermarket shit he had done to it. They used it as the ceterpiece of the GT4 demo display at the Tokyo Game Show a year ago

Bonus pic: this is from the parking lot on top of Polyphony's office (it's a converted warehouse out in the Tokyo 'burbs). Vintage Camaro SS and a pretty trick S2000 belonging to some other guys on the dev team.

The Polyphony folks have a pretty rough life, though. We toured the office last September -- keep in mind this is more than a year before the game's eventual ship -- and pretty much the whole team was already living at the office. According to SCE's PR folks, the dev people basically work until they drop early in the morning, crash out under their desks, wake up in the early afternoon, and repeat the cycle until the game's done.

Our tour was between about noon and two, but we never got to see Yamauchi, because he was still passed out in his office.

They can afford cool cars, though. I really liked that white Honda in the lot there, the upgrades were all nice and subtle -- rims, skirts, spoilers front and rear, some nice new seats and five-points, and DVD navigation ('cuz you can't find shit in Tokyo without it).

Sony UK has confirmed that Gran Turismo 4 has slipped into 2005 in Europe. The publisher had been hoping to release the game in December of this year - having scrapped the game's online features in order to try and make the deadline - but now it appears that localisation issues have proven insurmountable.

"We can confirm that GT4 will now be released in Q1 2005 for Europe," the publisher told Eurogamer this morning. "The localisation of GT4 across the PAL territories is a huge undertaking because the product is localised into 13 different languages across the PAL territories, therefore the process takes considerably longer than it does in Japan. The GT brand strives for perfection, therefore we need to ensure that the localisation and testing of the product is done to the highest possible standard."

Hahaha... Sony is hilarious. How many times have this goddamn game been delayed now?:|

Meh, I guess they must be struggling for time given the December 14th US release. Not buying that excuse for 13 seperate languages though, almost all that translation can be done while development is ongoing.

PAL Land.

Thanks for that, I'm going to use that instead of Europe now. :)

With a huge market for GT4 like Europe, why, why are they playing with us. This kind of shit is my no 1 reason why I modded my PS2, so i DONT have to wait for a European Release and I can get the NA version.

Still cant believe this s*&t. But it gives me more time to play GTA: San Andreas 4 times over :)So as long as GTA keeps me busy i dont have to import.

I will continue believing that the PAL version will be the best (having extras+online). Hey...they call Europe Sony's land for some reason...I don't think Sony is going to screw their biggest supporters.

TELEGRAPH MESSAGE FOR: PAL LAND
MESSAGE FROM: NTSC LAND

I feel for you. STOP. I wish the game came out sooner. STOP. Why not try importing the NTSC copy? STOP.

Like i Said, if GTA SA is getting boring (no chance of that :D) I am gonna import the game. Wanted to do that with Final Fantasy X but i am glad i did not do that, cuz PAL Version FFX >>>>> NA Version

For you that seems to have missed my last post:
