The Polyphony folks have a pretty rough life, though. We toured the office last September -- keep in mind this is more than a year before the game's eventual ship -- and pretty much the whole team was already living at the office. According to SCE's PR folks, the dev people basically work until they drop early in the morning, crash out under their desks, wake up in the early afternoon, and repeat the cycle until the game's done.
Our tour was between about noon and two, but we never got to see Yamauchi, because he was still passed out in his office.
They can afford cool cars, though. I really liked that white Honda in the lot there, the upgrades were all nice and subtle -- rims, skirts, spoilers front and rear, some nice new seats and five-points, and DVD navigation ('cuz you can't find shit in Tokyo without it).
