Graphical Fidelity I Expect This Gen

It doesn't look as almost flawless as sh2r although the locations are super different so it's hard to make a comparison.

And i doubt sh2r is even the highest point of this engine (let's not even speak about hb2).

Gonna play some more tonight just because i'm open minded....

Too bad the game has no dlss so i have to play native with taa :messenger_pensive:
SH2 is a step above thanks to Lumen and Nanite. Especially hardware lumen. And yes, it has more varied environments especially brighter ones so it looks more striking.

PS5 version of Callisto is actually very comparable to the PC version in its 30 fps mode. They use all the ray tracing settings and the game uses TAAU to upscale from 1512p. Looks very sharp too. I think the biggest difference i noticed was that some of the fog, smoke, volumetric effects were more detailed in the PC version. Aside from that its the same game, but at 60 fps. Remmeber PS5 was the lead platform and there was a rumor that 200 devs from Sony XDEV helped with the PS5 version.

I made some comparisons back in the day. PS5 version appears blurrier and washed out here because i uploaded it to youtube before giffing it whereas the PC capture is straight from the source file. But thats probably why you are not seeing a big difference. there is none.

Yep. After Unreal fest we have a good idea of what UE5 is capable of now.

The only question is how well these UE5 games will run at 60 on PS5. I'd gladly play them all at a higher res 40FPS quality mode.

?? The witcher 4 tech demo was literally done to show that base ps5 can do hardware lumen at 60 fps in an open world game.

just expect resolution in the range of 800-1080p which is more or less what other third party games come at.

i like how the ue5 haters completely vanished after this e3 lol Witcher 4

you mean that super low res demo that doesn't reflect real gameplay and was supposed to show the engine at it's best possible state?

lol. imagine thinking this, at best 1080p looking, blurry, non-interactive demo is in any way impressive in this day and age.

I wanted to check callisto on pc to see if the ps5 was so dogshit in comparison that barely impressed me when i played it (other than the protagonist face) but no, even at native 4k maxed out the game is clearly a crossgen at best, even the characters are nothing special other than the faces, the initial leather jacket has some low res shit going on, i know the robosuit he gets later looks better, and that's why people only take screens of him with that thing on.

no amount of cherry picked pics is gonna change my mind unless the beginning of the game is by far the worst part graphically.

If my lazy balls are ok with it, i'm gonna post some smartphone pics later of how the game actually look for real.

Ther order of this generation my fucking ass (except being both bad playable tech demos)

P.s. the combat and enemy design are still as terrible as i remembered...
Callisto Protocol is abasolute gorgeous. You will regret nothing.

The demo was very impressive and it wasn't showing the engine in its best possible state, it was showing the engine on base PS5 at 60fps. No other open world game looks as geometrically dense and CGI like. The demo looked better than Assassin's Creed Shadows. Maybe GTA6 will look better or similar?

I'm aware of that, I mean what it will end up performing like at release. They can say they'll target 60 but will it be locked or unstable or whatever, or will visuals need to be downgraded compared to what we're seeing in like these Ill trailers.

GTA6 may end up being more technically impressive overall in the end compared to W4, but nanite foliage is just doing something we've never seen to that level of fidelity in games. I was more impressed by the demo for that part alone. Will be interesting to see what kind of tech GTA6 has going on in that area.

yep that same demo that set the internet on fire and had many asking if it would be downgraded because it was so impressive. lmao

To be fair, it shattered even my expectations. 60 frames per second with those visuals are insane shit, contained tech demo or not.
i always believed in ue5. it was only a matter of time until talented devs got their hands on it. for the longest time, we were getting B and C tier devs take a crack at it. CD Project is the first A tier dev to truly harness the engine's power.

Just look at what Obsidian managed to do with Avowed. That studio made ugly looking games like Fallout new vegas, alpha protocol and outer worlds one. And then boom, avowed comes with beautiful visuals. Bloober too. Compare Medium to Silent Hill 2.

I am very interested to see what Respawn does with UE5. They chose to go with UE4 and while the results were great, the performance wasnt and it was way too heavy. We will never see a Callisto sequel or another game from Striking Distance studios, or Bend's take on UE5, but those three studios managed to pull off miracles with UE4 and wouldve produced stunners like CD project is doing here.

it's a shame marvel 1943 seems to be a no-show every year because that would shut everyone up for good.

Some amazing gifs from the resetera thread.

I love everything about this. The colors, the lighting, her face, skin shaders, the motion blur on the horse. So cinematic.

Man, imagine watching all your best sellers be third person and going back to first person. it's clear from the success of RE2 and RE4 remakes that people prefer third person. Why is capcom being so stubborn about this?

I was really hoping for a john wick style combat system, but first person limits this so much. I know they have that janky third person mod but its only for show. you cant do much with it.

what a huge missed opportunity by capcom.

Good news on this front. Just watched a video from Sphere Hunter (YouTuber). She saw the demo and specifically compared the third person mode to RE4R, and said it's NOT a janky mod like RE8. She's a very reliable source for Resident Evil so I'm pretty confident capcom will deliver.

It wasn't the game though, it's a target for the game which isn't due till 2027. It really wasn't that impressive either and certainly not GTA 6 levels that's for sure.

A few seconds of gameplay of AH2 at 4.28 and of the cube at 7.36

As good as the trailer (around 2:45) looks, it pains me extremely they thought it was a good idea to jump cut brian may's solo after the "don't stop me" break.
I mean can't you find 30 seconds of footage before going into the "im burning through the sky" part ?
It would have hyped me 100 times more if they kept it in
