Now that Nintendo has an 8th-gen+ (8.5th gen?) performance level console, do you expect they will scale up their game budgets to match it?

Will Nintendo scale up their production budgets for Switch 2 games to justify the new prices?

I doubt it, that's exactly what most people are complaining about as is. Never say never though, they are still getting started with the new hardware and some of these games were developed for a Switch Pro internally that we know it exists... So who knows.

I had NES, SNES, N64, NGC. big fan of Nintendo when I was a Kid and a teenager.
I have played Nintendo games, here and there. I even had a Switch with Mario and Breath of the Wild. and as far as i know Link doesn't talk. And still MP4 looks old and outdated.
Lets pretend that the others characters doesn't talk too 😂😂

Why would they? Nobody is buying Nintendo games because they have the highest polycount, the most realistic lighting or the best voice acting.

Why on earth would they want to fall into the same trap as the AAA sector with budgets ballooning out of control and games taking the better part of a decade to make?

What if the OLED Switch 2 is the SUPER Switch 2, which will be...in theory...Switch 3? Nintendo might be ready to lay out all the cards on the table and yell GIN!!!

Ewww. Scale up their budgets meaning extended production cycles on all their games... yeah that's a no from me. It already takes them 6 years to get a mainline Zelda game completed and Mario hasn't had a new game in 6 years. What do you want, 10 years of development on games now? If anything they need to scale back and get games out faster.

Visions of the Zelda demo for Wii U are coming to mind.

I really doubt Nintendo will ever make anything as good looking as that 2011 demo. That shit was even playable apparently.

My dream modern Zelda game, this tech demo got me so hyped for Zelda at the time and what I thought was going to come.

Either this amazing tech demo graphic style or if they managed to make the Ocarina of Time/Majora's Mask artbook style come to life than either would be my dream Zelda game by far. I believe the Switch should have the power to make a huge game with this tech demo quality now.

Never liked the BOTW/TOTK graphic/art style as while it has color but it's all so blurring, and washed out and lacked that nice vibrant color clarity.

No they won't, they'll just increase their prices on everything cause they know their loyal fans will take anything they put out straight up their ass.

It's not 8.5, it is at PS4 level and only in docked mode. In 2027, only 2 years from now when PS6 comes out it will be already 2 generations behind.

Yes. Do they even have a choice?

Unless you think the next mainline Zelda, for example, will not look better/be more advanced/have a grander scale than BotW/TotK on Switch(1) the answer seems obvious.

I disagree, I think Navi is still the best voice acting character ever to have existed. Every 'hey!' and 'listen!' is filled with such intensity and raw emotion that I sit through each playthrough absolutely stunned.

I can imagine them making a more "narrow" Zelda with high-level/realistic looking graphics

And Metroid of course.

Minimal voice acting, limited cut scenes and story.

Not going to chage. anything. They will continue chasing their artist vision they've been using for over a decade much like Disney cell animation.

They will change how they extract more cash from their loyal customers, because they have been pretty slow and reasonable with their on-line services in terms of prices. I think they finally understand just how far their hubris can be pushed now. Watershed momenet reallty. I suspect a lot of penny pinching going forward in development too or Mario to be $100.
