Curious to know this thread's takes on this new in-game showcase reveal (Ignoring the obvious 'inspirations' in it's gameplay):
I guess Decima was holding back Kojima after all. Another big L for GG and Sony first party studios.
UE5 is letting him fly free. Absolutely incredible.
Pretty damn close, but I never thought it was a real human. Hellblade 2 has several scenes that looked like video footage from a FMV game.I saw it this morning. I thought it was impressive, the only game I've seen that's on par with Hellblade II.

That OD Knock reveal looks absolutely phenomenal, Unreal Engine keeps flexing its muscles as always.
Also Physint is a full-blown PS6 game, that face model from the game engine graphics they showed tells me that this is their target rendering which can be theoretically achieved with PS6 & its almost certain usage of Neural Rendering to render faces at this complexity & nuance.
Next-gen Decima looking good

CG model, not real time.
A target for what they'll try to achieve whenever this game comes out in the 2030's.
Yeah I forgot to say that. True.Guarantee you it is not a PS6 exclusive. We probably won't see any AAA PS6 exclusives until at least 2033, probably even later. It will look best on PS6, but all games will scale on current gen consoles for the foreseeable future

I know Borderlands 2 doesnt look that great in the open world, but I really like the lighting at times. Especially in bases where nanite finally gets a chance to shine somewhat, and Lumen does a great job with indirect lighting and shadows.
It's a shame you cant turn off the HUD.

best character artists for sure.Kojima Prods have the best artists in the business
i like the last one the most. But the first two just feel dated in comparison. And its not just the lighting, i dont like the asset quality either.Borderlands 3 for comparison sake:

Their in game models are truly lifelike, for sure, but how much credit can you give them for having lifelike characters when they're just 3d scanned people?best character artists for sure.
Here we go. Finally games from PS Studios. How long has it been? 2 years?
Intergallactic, Wolverine and Soros please. Or fuck off.
people have been 3d scanned since LA Noire. Even in UE5 games which uses Metahuman, you can easily tell certain games have better character models and facial animations. it's still a lot of work to go from 3d scans to facial rendering. otherwise, every game would look like Hellblade 2 or Death Stranding 2 in cutscenes.Their in game models are truly lifelike, for sure, but how much credit can you give them for having lifelike characters when they're just 3d scanned people?
I suspect it will be there big surprise reveal for the end, I remember someone from ND saying that we haven't seen nothing yet in terms of gameplay or world, but I'm heavily paraphrasing.Saros confirmed, Wolverine very likely due to latest insider gaming rumor, but really hope to see more from intergalactic
i hope the combat blows us away even if the visuals dont. I am tired of playing the same soulslike bullshit these last 15 years or so. give me something brand new and i will excuse the graphics leap. or lack thereof.I suspect it will be there big surprise reveal for the end, I remember someone from ND saying that we haven't seen nothing yet in terms of gameplay or world, but I'm heavily paraphrasing.

Intergalactic is rumored to not come out until 2027. We probably won't see it for another year. Wolverine and Saros is enough to satisfy most. That is all I am expecting for first partyI suspect it will be there big surprise reveal for the end, I remember someone from ND saying that we haven't seen nothing yet in terms of gameplay or world, but I'm heavily paraphrasing.
City simulation look uber simple tho.one of the best open world visuals ive ever seen. been following this game back when it was Project Mugen. The glow up its received since is remarkable considering how we thought it would get downgraded instead.
Incredible density, lighting and open world design. Just what I expected from next gen/current gen at the start of the gen.
This is an already much better pic than the previous asian chick. The hair rendering is amazing. The lighting on the eyes is extremely photorealistic. Shaders look less cartoony than DS2 characters which is good to see. One good thing about kojima is that he doesnt treat him games like a state secret. We will continue seeing bits and pieces of this game over the next couple of years. hopefully by 2027 we will have the first teaser even though the game is likely 5-6 years away.

That's how you know it's a good post*Kevboard did not like that*

Famous actor scanning are always gonna look more realistic than made up character, it trick the brain far more, it's undeniable.Their in game models are truly lifelike, for sure, but how much credit can you give them for having lifelike characters when they're just 3d scanned people?
that looks really good. but those outdoor pictures had low lods in the distance. What's wrong with the asset quality? It still looks amazing and, most importantly, performs amazingly. Very pretty game.

OMG that is amazing to know!Kojima actually said that this model of the physint runing on engine and you have full control over camera and specified it not a cutscene model like Ds2 cutscene but actual gameplay model same thing for OD simply amazing

Just looking at pics in this thread I'd says Borderlands 3 looks incredibly close and somehow even better than new one, maybe something related to the style. New one is more dense in some scenes, but more unplesant to watch. Don't even consider that 100x hardware is needed for this kind of graphical "difference" lolWhat's wrong with the asset quality? lol. I am actually hopeful. They finally came out and said PS Studios which is something they havent done in a while. It's also 35+ and we are getting a 5 minute gameplay demo of Soros which again they havent done in a while.Prepare to see 25 minutes of GoY and 5 minutes of Saros.

Maybe i'm mistaken, but in the last years, Sony usually didn't show anything new from their biggest AAA studios in their shows near the release of another PS studio game. And they made a habit to not show anything until the game is at least 1 year before release. Saw that MS got burned showing games with 3-4 years before release and they avoided that.lol. They have also cancelled pretty much all their GaaS games. So it;s not like we will be wasting a lot of time on that.
I think besides soros, we will see at least of two of the following: Wolverine, Intergallactic, Cory's next game. After that? the sky is the limit. We could have a horizon 3 teaser, its been 3 and a half years. They had revealed Horizon 2 by this time in the dev cycle. Same goes for GT8 which was also revealed in the same time frame. They could tease the next Uncharted spin off which has been in dev since the director shipped the TLOU Remake in September 2022. They had no problems teasing Soros, Intergallactic and Wolverine years before their release. I think they might tease these other 2027 games as well.
those games have been exceptions, not the norm. Wolverine, Spiderman 2, Death Stranding 2, Intergallactic, Soros were all revealed several years before their release.Maybe i'm mistaken, but in the last years, Sony usually didn't show anything new from their biggest AAA studios in their shows near the release of another PS studio game. Probably will show some Intergalactic since has a big probability to release next year.
kojima tweeted saying its running on unreal engine 5.Whatever the hell OD knock was, it looks phenomenal, but do we have any inkling that it's realtime? Unless explicitly stated it's in-engine or realtime, we should assume its CGI

Ghost of Yotei pushes the limits of draw distance far beyond its predecessor thanks to the PS5’s capabilities. We talk to the devs about what’s changed - AUTOMATON WEST
Interview with Joanna Wang, art director at Sucker Punch Productions, about Ghost of Yotei's technical advancements.automaton-media.com
"For Yotei, we realized very quickly that we needed to improve draw distance. To portray the vastness of the Hokkaido map, we needed to be able to render distant views with high fidelity and accurate depth of space. We can now load millions of assets, with tens of thousands visible on-screen at once. Real-time particles like leaves, snow, ash and fog number in the hundreds of thousands across both near and far distances."
Interesting...more info in the link.
We also focused on noise reduction, using a process called denoising. In real photos, random noise patterns appear, but since we aim for a "painterly look," we remove that noise, both from individual material textures and entire scenes. For example, in a grass field, we might add only white flowers for horses to gallop through, but avoid mixing too many colors. This is related to the minimalism I mentioned earlier, as it draws attention to what matters – the white foreground (flowers) against the green background (grass).
