Graphical Fidelity I Expect This Gen

So there is new stuff season-wise? From an update or DLC?

I ask because I didn't play the game since spring and I'm finding it hard to get enough motivation for it; some parts are bad.
Even though it's not as bad as people make it out to be, I still think it's overstated how terrible the game is.
No. No new stuff. Havent bought the DLC either.

I just dont remember snow storms this detailed that went on for this long. Back when i played it at launch, the snow was relatively light.

I think the weather is different for each region. I am at a different northern region now where there are more snowstorms and much heavier ones.

And yes, the game is very hard to go back to after a while. it broke me when I tried to finish the story before my ubisoft sub expired and forced myself to run through story missions. Just garbage storytelling. But now that ive bought it, ive just been doing what i liked most, raiding castles and getting gear to min match by builds.

Got it, yeah, I remember last I played I had left the northern regions so maybe I that's why I didn't see those.

Exactly, the gameplay is more than decent and because of this I had a much easier time letting the poor storytelling slide by.

This game and especially this DLC looks absolutely stunning, in my opinion the best looking game on the market right now. The amount of details on textures, vegetation or just the ground is insane. The asset quality is superb, the lightning, reflection and so on based on Raytracing is extremely good implemented. And the gameworld is full of different animals with their small babys which gives an extra feel of realism.

Yep. Consistently stunning. Took this screenshot last night. Just exploring a random region and stumbled upon this.

This was very surprising imo. It still has some stiff animation I guess but I just saw their game from before which I never played and going from sidescroller to this is a huge leap.
The clear thing for me that those graphics are likely next gen graphics, this trailer have many realtime sequences that clearly on par with CGI quality

Nah it's current gen.

These guys are very talented. F.i.s.t was absolutely insane looking for a cross Gen ue4 title. This is likely current gen only and likely ue5. Just about the leap id expect from a talented developer.

OMG this looks fantastic! Not only in terms of stunning graphical fidelity, the art direction as well, absolutely stunning next-gen looking game, plus the cloth & hair physics look too good.

This footage was running on PC, they just released it yesterday during the Xbox Preview show.

Geez why all the devs use ue5 nowadays??

Stupidest question ever asked in human history.

Well as I already mentioned been playing Indiana Jones and it's on iDtech 7. Looks freaking amazing.

But iD lost the engine war a long, long time ago.

Such a beautiful opening area, wonderful art direction, and then boom, instead of fighting in that location they go and fight in a generic location and the game turns into souls slop.

Worst thing to happen to this industry is souls going mainstream. Instead of getting real action adventure games like God of War and Zelda, everything is souls slop. Worse than when CoD ruined the FPS industry.

And what's with the fascination for molten rocks/scorched ground? It's just ugly textures with dubious tiling no amount of filtering can save. A flat slab of cancer with a single texture on it.

Reminds me of something like the first Serious Sam (that had a lot going on for the time and couldn't do otherwise, of course).

Well I think it's DMC, FF & Elden Ring combined judging from this gameplay. 😱

The makers of Genshin Impact are back with their new IP. A brand new open world game set in a modern city. Built on UE5.

easily the best graphics I've ever seen in an urban city. Fantastic daytime lighting, great materials on cars and buildings, beautiful trees and great reflections. This is what I expected GTA6 to look like during gameplay.

Timestamped:

The rest of the game doesnt look that special. Indoors look meh and the corrupted area looks rather drab. I'd rather the game just have us fight these monsters in the real open world.

If I remember correctly this game won't be a Souls clone. It will be more like DMC.

Just absolutely stunning, a technical masterpiece.
Look at the amount of details on the ground, from visible snow particles to puddles, everything looks realistic and natural, but high resolution is necessary to make it visible. The combination of DLDSR Downsampling with DLSS transformer model Upscaling is perfect for that.

I expect GTA VI to have similar or better graphical fidelity.

It looks great but the city looks too simplistic in terms of buildings, pavements & the overall density of objects, the city has the object/building density that resembles closely to that of GTA 4 or GTA 5 PS3/360 version but brought way up with UE5's assets & visual effects, the material quality alongside the RT features do look sublime.

This GTA VI screenshot here is the most next-gen thing I have ever seen, everything is ramped up superlatively!

Zoomed further in, unbelievable draw distance!

Overall a good DLC with some pretty difficult boss fights.
The graphical presentation ist fantastic, its a technical masterpiece for sure.

So Colin Moriarty speculated that Intergallactic might be content complete and set for a release in 2026.

Jason Schrier immediately chimed and vehemently denied that its releasing in 2026.

Jeff Grubb then said it wont even be at the TGA this year.

Assuming this is true, you have to wonder just WTF ND has been doing all year. Remember, Neil said that they would show more 'soon'. Well, it's been 12 months, they skipped E3, they skipped the Sony september show, and now they are set to skip the game awards.

This is a studio that never went more than a year and a half without showing a new gameplay demo. This is the first time in 20 years, they have gone 5 years without showing any gameplay. So what happened 5 years ago? Druckman was made Studio Head. And then pissed off to make two seasons of a mid tier tv show in hollywood. Completely ruining arguably the best studio in the world in a span of five years. All because he wanted to be in hollywood.

Just depressing stuff.

So pretty. Between this and Ananta, its great to see asian studios push the bar graphically for games that are essentially F2P games made by ex-mobile game devs. Hell, even the horizon game looks pretty great for a mobile game. Pretty sure Ananta is releasing on mobile too. We were just talking about devs holding back their vision due to portables, and well these guys clearly dont give a fuck about series s, ps6 portable, switch 2, or the iphone. They are making some of the best looking games out there while certain first party devs target ps4 specs making cross gen looking games in 2025.

Agree. Western devs and "journalists" trying desperately to sell "Developing game is soooo hard nowadays, we need at least (insert big nubmer here) YEARS!!!" etc. etc. This is so embarrassing that whenever I hear it I wanna punch the face of whomever says it. I am trying to be empathetic towards them. Yes the world we live in right now is harsh. Economies are struggling. Developing games are not easy feat. Yes, I can understand that of course.

But people really underestimating the time here. 5 years??!!! 6 years???!! 7 YEARS??!!!! What the hell?!! Do they realize that 5(6,7) years is just some random numbers? We are not living on the cosmic time level here. 5 years is a lot!!! Not just in human life span, but in developing a game as well.

This is just pure laziness. Most of the western developers got so lazy that eastern developers are really on the rise for a long time. They are the delivering sides. Western devs just masbrubating about woke stuff instead of developing games. Maybe more of them should follow CO: E33's developers's road to take the initiative. These people established a new studio, developed and released a banger game in TOTAL 5 YEARS. Now that's I'd call a hardwork!

Lol. It is not like Playstation's marketing has drastically changed since last generation..... Ghost of Yotei, Saros, Wolverine are all got announced and release(d) within a year. I don't count the Wolverine trailer from 2021

Druckmann literally said he wanted to announce Intergalactic early so people would get off the studios back. High production AAA games like Witcher 4, GTA 6, and Intergallactic take 6+ years to develop. That is just a fact. Stop trying to paint a picture that doesn't exist

yep. 5 years is a long time, and we know from past experiences that these same devs were releasing games far more often.

just look at Kojima. He got fired in december 2015. Had to create an entire studio from scratch, and yet released a brand new IP in under 4 years. Then took 5.6 years to make a copy pasta sequel? What?

Sucker Punch wasted two years on a new IP after infamous second son. OK, but then maybe GoT from scratch in 4 years. I dont understand why a copy pasta sequel takes 5 years.

ND is making a new IP so ok, take a bit longer. But 5 years and no gameplay? There was a study recently that showed that median salary in the game studios in the U.S is $140k a year. ND has 400 devs. That's $56 million per year. So they have spent $275 million of Sony's money in the last six years with literally nothing to show for it. And thats the thing, we waited patiently, but at least give us a gameplay demo a full year after the reveal which was already 4.5 years after your last game.

I dont buy the covid excuse either. plenty of devs have released games during covid. Hell, i work at a software development firm and we actually became far more productive while working from home. It's clear that sony studios are in development hell for one reason or another, run by their own moron version of Phil Spencer, and thats the reason why we are getting such lame games despite 5 to 6 to now 7 year dev times.

So clearly the devs behind this game aren't woke cause this looks fucking sick!!!! This is what Avowed should've looked like, have you seen what Avowed ultimately morphed into? Pink, purple, red, just bright colors and of course, LOTS OF DIVERSITY!!!! Yeah gotta make sure there's diversity cause you know, REPRESENTATION MATTERS!!!!! Whose developing this game? They clearly are not woke. My god is that coming to Series X? That truly looks fucking phenomenal.

Path Traced Cyberpunk 2077 in VR !

I recently got 4k VR headset and seriously, there is nothing more insane looking that being in cyberpunk2077. Just look up and see those skyscrapes near you, feel their size.

It looks good but the crowd/vehicle density is nonexistent. Do no people live in this city?

Having high vehicle density might sound good, until you try it. I am using a mod for cyberpunk that heavily increases pedestrian/car density and stops the game from spawning less of them while driving (which is what normally happens) end result is that driving feels like driving in town in real life because there are traffic jams everywhere. Looks great and helps with immersion, which is exactly what i was going for, but its bad for game design purposes.

This game looks like something on the opposite end of the spectrum to me, so empty it feels off.

This tweet made me laugh. Complain about next gen engines costing too much one day and then bemoan lack of next gen upgrades the next.

P.S DriveClub 11 years ago took a big shit over this game. Problem is that Forza Horizon 5 was last gen, and despite looking great, didnt offer a next gen leap over DriveClub and past Forza games. Really hope we see the next one at the VGA. Should be next gen only and push next gen visuals like Fable.

So what happened 5 years ago?
The release of TLoUP2 after which someone very smart at Sony decided that the best thing a SP focused studio can do is a MP GAAS title in a SP universe.
They've wasted 3.5 years on this brilliant idea, then it got canned (dunno why), so they are at about 2 years into their new project - which is Intergalactic.
Expecting a modern AAA game to be ready for release in 3 years is unrealistic so yeah, 27 or even 28 I'd say.

I mean he isnt wrong. As someone that mainly plays racing games, they have stagnated bad. It has nothing to do with a fancy brand new game engine. NFS Unbound is on a 15 year newer tech and it looks arguably worse than NFS HP 2010. Its the art direction, gone are the bold colors, flashy visuals, FM8 literally looks like ass from all the washed out colors. Whatever they were going for, it aint working. People forget at the end of the day we pay to play video games, not real life 100% replicas.

Also it doesnt help that most of these new racing games come out broken as hell. Driveclub has been surpassed ages ago but small details and the whole flash what the game offered, hasnt.

Last year Neil said that the game had been in dev for 4 years and started dev after shipping TLOU2. There are around 250 devs working on intergallactic and 150 devs working on another project which is thought to be an Uncharted spinoff.

Factions was just a side project for the team. All the best talent likely worked on intergallactic.

The bottomline is that last year he said there were 250 devs on it, and he said we will see more of the game soon. A year later, 250 devs couldnt come up with a gameplay trailer let alone a gmeplay demo? How much do you have to suck at your job to not be able to deliver a demo in a year after 5 years of working on something?

Hitman devs are set to release a brand new game 5 years after releasing Hitman 3. So yeah, 3 years is unrealistic for a new IP, but 5 years should at least be enough for a freaking gameplay trailer.
