Graphical Fidelity I Expect This Gen

Looks awesome.

Looks really interesting.

And it's singleplayer! I'd love something similar to Bodycam. but I can't stand multiplayer no more. I'm old xD

Straight into wishlist. Normally I don't like chromatic aberration, lens distortion and such effects, but in these kind of games they make perfect sense.

Alright you guys win.

THIS LOOKS SO BAD. WHAT THE FUCKKKK!?!?!?!?!?

holy shit. what is happening over at sony?

Some people were praising these animations in another thread.

Most AA games' animations are better than this. Most AA games' graphics are better than this. Probably lots of them have better stories than this.

I can't believe I'm bad mouthing a game but really, what is this shit?

It's been two years since the Unrecord demo video popped up, and still nobody's released a single-player game delivering on that premise & style (that I know of).

I hope this one releases soon. Unrecord's release date is still "To be announced".
It's not exactly single player, but have you seen Bodycam?

Ghosts is basically continuing the same approach to game development we saw in GT7, Ragnorak, FF7 Rebirth, Spiderman 2, Astro bot and Death Stranding 2. It's akin more to DLC than a full refresh. Some games look better than others, but ultimately the lack of graphics upgrades are a very conscious decision by studio heads and suits over at Sony. You do the bare minimum, charge $70 for DLC, and watch as the cash and GOTY awards roll in.

This wont change until the critics speak up, until fanboys stop jerking off to last gen visuals, and until people stop giving GOTY awards to mid tier 2001 era games like Astrobot.

The industry is in a bad place not because of Sony devs being lazy, but because everyone from consumers to critics, publishers and devs alike have rewarded mediocrity all generation. Look at the 90 metacritic of virtually every single one of those games above and tell me why they would bother updating graphics let alone add meaningful next gen gameplay features. I said this before, but i was shocked to find out that there are zero new PCC structures in DS2. They did add some upgrades to combat, but utlimately for a game designed around traversal, there were zero new features added. The result? 90 metacritic for a game that could pass off as DLC were it not for the expensive looking cutscenes.

Copy pasta visuals in Ragorak, GT7, FF7 Rebirth, Astrobot and Ghosts 2. Copy pasta game design in DS2. Copy pasta city in Spiderman 2. Equals dozens of GOTY awards and tens of millions in sales.

meanwhile, Callisto, Avatar, outlaws, AC shadows all flop. Some thanks to gamer outrage over ugly female characters and black leads. Silent Hill 2 and Wukong are robbed of GOTY nominations. It's an industry problem, not a sony one.

Time to look in the mirror and call out cum guzzling when you see it.

Looks awesome.

Becoming less and less of a fan of these types of games that use a ton of post processing and lens distortion to blur and smear the image to give the illusion of reality. It looks okay but most of the assets are severely lacking in detail; it's just hidden by the post processing.

Another clone of _____, with stereotypical UE5 graphics...

I mean, while it is true, talking about "stereotypical UE5" graphics in a generation where good UE5 games are the exception is a bit strange, to say the least.

Remember the ps360 days? Every single game was UE, and many shared the same ugly piss filter look.

But eventually we got many, many games with distinctive art styles, using the same engine.

We're not even at the first stage. And even compared to back then, games look so much better than that cross-gen crap many devs are pushing.

Once more China and UE5

You could have told me that this was a new trailer for any Chinese game already shown and I wouldn't be able to tell you the difference.

It looks awesome as any else tho, but is already starting to be boring.

Another Souls clone. But it looks incredible, both tech and art wise.

Its not soulslike, guys. This is the 4th games in the series, the previous 3 games are all available on Steam.
Q: What's the game genre? Is it Soulslike? Is it open world?

A: Swords of Legends is an action RPG with a strong, well-paced main story and rich cinematic storytelling, complemented by side quests and deep exploration. Neither a Soulslike nor a fully open-world game, the gameplay structure is closer to a "wide linear" experience, allowing players to approach the adventure at their own pace within the guided progression.
Q: How challenging is the combat?

A: We are not aiming for punishing difficulty or purely skill-gated combat. For example, "soul capturing" is both a narrative mechanic to the story and a core combat build. Players can capture the souls of certain monsters and summon them to assist in battle, with some offering cooperative combo attacks — such as the special drop attack triggered in the trailer when fighting alongside the Ox-Head and Horse-Face. Exploration will also yield a variety of utility items to aid in combat, and flexible weapon-skill loadouts will allow players to adapt to different enemy types. Our goal is to ensure players of all skill levels can have fun — and, as in any good RPG, enjoy the satisfying journey of growing stronger.

I sincerely don't agree with this, never have. UE5 games so far look very distinct, just because the engine is great at embracing realism doesn't mean all these games even look the same. Besides, you shouldn't expect cel shaded and such stuff from Unreal to begin with, it's class leading technology designed to push either realism or Pixar realism, which requires complex shaders.

Devs have only two options either use UE5 or they have to upgrade their gfx engine to current standards like some Ubisoft devs did. I have see many Chinese, Korean UE5 WIP games and they all look amazing. So a bigger studio should be able to achieve great results as well.

I think in few years time when next gen console get released we will have some 80% games in UE5 if not more. Every game will look great, apart from animations and gfx will get irrelevant. Already now I think most gamers are happy gfx wise. Hellblade II runs around 900P -1000P. A proper game like Witcher4 I think will also be around 800P 60fps on PS5. We should easily get 1440P 60fps UE5 games next gen.

Are you referring to the ND game? The trailer didn't infer there would be urban environments. The visual bar in that trailer was not any higher than TLOU 2.

Dude. Intergalactic looks last Gen as fuck. Sony studios and their 1440p 60 fps target will never get you next gen visuals. Best you can hope for is ps4.5 visuals like ratchet or demon souls.

I just hope they'll prove us wrong on their next trailer because It will be huge disappointed if they end like other sony first party studios

The rumors still point to Intergalactic being ND's version of a Metroid game.
  • Chick is chasing after someone/something
  • Lands on planet
  • Is "stuck" there
  • Exploration commences
If that sounds familiar, it's the plot to almost all Metroid games.

Gta6 has become literally the only reason to have a pro...

Resolution and framerate Improvements on this shit graphic are not gonna change anything, pro should have pushed nextgen graphic, not this mid ps4 shit.
I wouldn't even buy a pro for gta6. The ps5 pro has been a disappointment. I'm glad I never invested and stayed with the base ps5.

Also, I'm super tired of GTA in general. Since gta4, I've literally been retired. I have GTA 5, but have no will to play it. At all. 😅 Burnt out as fuck.

I already own a pro unfortunately, and i still have hope for gta6 because i loved rdr2 (but not gta5).

It's clearly a low budget game, but I really appreciate these smaller teams really trying and having ambition. These smaller titles are always quite fun to play in-between the bigger releases imo and it looks quite decent visually. Their effort puts most of the 1st party stuff to shame even if it's clearly less consistent and has janky animation.

This looks great visually. Why can't big AAA devs who don't use UE5 reach this type of asset quality and detail?
Because they don't use UE5 and/or are stucked with older tech.

I'd say there are a lot of really good engine out there: ID Tech, Frostbite, Snowdrop, even CryEngine (KCD2 is really nice and performs really well).

It's telling that it's in-house first party developed engines that are lacking.

I think people have shit on re engine here in the past but I just played the dlc of re4. And I think it looks pretty good. High resolution works wonders compared to something like aw2

BATTLEFIELD 6 is the real fucking deal. I've never seen war done like this in a video game, much less multiplayer.

Incredible cinematic gameplay. All yall telling me not to get excited after the trailers. I didn't listen, I'm jacked.

Sound design, graphics, physics, destruction, vehicle play, gun combat, all best or close to best in the FPS genre

I was kind of surprised how good it looked compared to youtube videos. Apart from depris pop in
Yea it looks fantastic for what it's offering. Playing on a base ps5. The destruction takes it to levels above other shooters and makes them feel lazy in comparison.

I used to be impressed by, and want to play Delta Force.. but after this beta, that game looks so stiff and sterile in comparison.

the game is phenomenal. The atmosphere is epic. Best ive ever seen. The textures and lighting are firmly in the cross gen space though. Not bad, but not last gen like spiderman or ghosts either. The level of detail in every map is quite frankly pretty impressive. I just wish that detail was of higher quality.

Smoke effects, and destruction bring about chaos that makes it seem next gen as fuck.

Delta force MP is on UE4.

Wait for the Black hawk Down coop mode to release on consoles. Thats on UE5. Edit: looks like Black Hawk Down is also coming to consoles tomorrow. This will be interesting.

Didn't play BF6. But what I saw from the videos, the only thing my elf eyes got, the destruction is not seems real. I'm not saying this as a bad thing they probably said "Screw this, it is a game" but when the buildings got hit they get destroyed like glass, all of it shatter. Not just impact point.

But as I said, this is not a bad thing and to tell you the truth who cares. It seems everyone's happy when playing game and that is the most important thing.

This isn't the first time ND has borrowed from Nintendo.

>Protagonist overcomes obstacles/enemies standing in their way in order to reach their goal, which is a person being held captive

The Last of Us Part II = Super Mario Bros.

It's not just AAA devs who dont use UE5, western devs who do use UE5 cant reach these visuals. I mean Mafia looks good and all, but this is so far ahead it's not even funny.

I think it's time to admit that China is just far ahead of the west. I might have brought this up earlier, but just look at their architecture, the buildings and the insane bridges they build. They are well ahead of the west. It's no surprise that their talent is now on full display in other industries.

Edit: it's not just the lazy west. japan is also struggling to do anything with UE5 or this generation in general. Japan like the west has made garbage graphics all gen.

When you are in game and everything is just getting destroyed around you, there is no time to see what's real and what's fake. What's real is the intensity of the incredible debris, smoke, and destruction effects. I've been in buildings that have fallen all around me and it's absolutely insane. I have actually fallen down floors after the ground crumbled under me. Been playing BF games since BFBC2 and there has never been anything this extensive.

Also the map design encourages destruction. There is destruction in other BF games but its so sparse, you could go the entire round without seeing anything. here, many maps are set amongst buildings that can all be destroyed. The plumes of smoke that rise up, the debris that gets flung in all directions, and the incredible explosion effects all come together to make an absolute masterpiece of visual and audio design. It's like BF1 on steroids.
