But, seriously. How can it not be the the original Four Horsemen? Ric Flair, Arn Anderson, Ole Anderson, and Tully Blanchard.
 
Good question.. hard to answer. So many great stables over the years.

I love the Hart Foundation, but I really could'nt pick them as the greatest, they were pretty much just there to support Bret. DX was probbaly the funnest stable but overall they did not have a huge effect on wrestling. The best stable has to be the nWo, so influential at the time and it was fuckin cool. Anything that could make me watch the WCW has to be good.
 
I remember that Edge & Christian skit where they were talking about “The Regime” or “The Faction” and ended up calling it “The Factime”

Then the week after singing Christ Benoit theme on a kazoo:

If you grew up watching wrestling Saturdays on TBS .. there is no question in your mind.

Kind of off topic, but I saw Mick Foley at the local Dairy Barn last week. I was with my mom, going to get some milk, and then my mom's like "get a load of this guy", he was in the other lane driving a newer model Impala. And out walks Foley with a bright red hawaiian shirt. I'm like mom, that's Mick Foley! And she kept wanting me to go out and shake his hand and get an autograph, but I didn't want to feel like a total mark, I don't know much about wrestling, and god knows how many people go up to him and start talking about his cage match. My best friend has been a hardcore wrestling fan for years, so when he saw him at the local 7-11, he actually was able to have a meaningful conversation about some of the more obscure events he was in. My brother sees him all the time at the local Blockbuster.

And back on topic: My vote is for the nWo - they were right around the time I started getting into wrestling so they really defined the times for me.

NWO probably is the greatest stable, actually. Hart Foundation was great too, but NWO had such an effect on the industry as a whole, they have to be considered one of the greatest if not the greatest. I am talking before they grew to like 400 members. When they were still cool.

Then again, the LWO was pretty cool too. :lol

People who keep saying the NWO seem to forget that the NWO didn't stop at just Hogan, Hall and Nash. It grew to laughably large size, including such stellar athletes as Virgil, Bryan Adams, Stevie Ray(although Stevie remains my favorite announcer of all time, ever), etc.

Four Horseman. Period. That's it. Originators, and the innovators. I'm talking the Ric, Tully, Arn, and Ole Horseman. There's a reason WCW/NWA kept trying to rebuild them after Arn/TUlly hit WWF, a reason they just kept trying to bring them back over and over and over again. Because it was the best.

All the other stables mentioned in this thread, once it was done, it was done. But to this day, if Flair came out and said he wanted to revive a next generation Four Horseman, people would chomp at the bit.

Who doesn't hate rich, bratty rave kids? They had some great matches and might be the most hate-able faction I can remember.

I personally think DX got old too quick, which is why I haven't listed them.

Edit-Wow, how could I forget the Hart Foundation. They owned as well!
 
Haha, Mean Street Posse. I liked watching their matches because when they were able to get a move off it was actually an event. One time that Pete Gas did this thing where he did almost a backwards full nelson (with his hands over the guys face) and then slammed him. Called it the Gas Mask :lol

The only problem with Special K is that they didnt start using Cheech soon enough. Cheech is the damned man.
 
The NWO.

There were more people with NWO shirts than those that were flashing the four-fingers in the air at any point. People who didn't even watch wrestling wore NWO shirts. I think most of their popularity can be attributed to the rise of media attention toward street gangs at the time, and even though there were other stables in the industry then that could have benefitted from this, the NWO was perhaps the first that successfully blended the best of wrestling dynamism with the urban-esque propaganda (e.g., spray-painting, torn jeans, unconventional finger signs, etc.)

What the hell are you taliking about Virgil was great, I remember whwn he had his own issue of WWF the magazine printed up so he would be on the cover and carried it to ring with him....
