Green Man Gaming Thread: Save some green, man

Doesn't work for Mass Effect 1, I just dug out my retail disc and tried it. If there is a way to add my Mass Effect 1 to Origin I'd really like to know about it.

as a last resort you could use the EA live chat feature and see if one of their tech support people will add the games for you.

i did that last summer and one of the guys on there added about 6 games for me. i was pretty happy about that.

I tried to add the code through that link, but it didn't work. I sent an email to EA support and they replied in less than an hour, having added Mass Effect to my account and giving me a key for the Bring Down the Sky DLC (that nowadays you can only get emailing EA support, so...)

Origin support is way, way better than Steam's, thankfully.

What email address do you use to contact them, and what details do you need to give them?

Go to http://help.ea.com/, login with your Origin account and click in "Talk to a Game Advisor". You just have to fill the form ;)

Okay, I did that, it was a little bit disturbing as it felt like talking to someone who was using a preprogrammed phrasebook, plus the guy's name was Depinder which I kept thinking said "Derpinder", but anyway yeah he asked me for the serial numbers which I gave him and he added the games to my Origin account. Thanks for the info.

How does greenmangaming work? If I were to buy a game through the site could I give it to someone else? Like if I bought a game that has to be registered to Origin, would there be a code I could just give to them?

Basically. I couldn't activate Bulletstorm on Origin, I suspect because it is a GFWL key. Alice and ME3 worked fine. Steamworks games too, obviously.

The game I'm getting ready to buy is Crysis 2, an Origin only game. I' wondering if I just get a code from gmg that I could give to someone.

There doesn't seem to be an official release date for Binary Domain. Hope even if it comes out before the preorder deal expires the price will still be good.

Yeah, that's what I noticed. But if you're an Australian then the price on GMG is still $10 better than the price it's going for on Steam.

Just pre-ordered Sleeping Dogs and Darksiders 2 since they were on sale. We don't get the codes until closer to release right? And I shouldn't have to worry about any region locks, right?

Correct on both counts, you will receive codes closer to release, and there should be no concerns about region locks :)

And per a request by one user, can't recall who/where (brainfail) I'll be trying to post more frequently on neogaf :)

Also in other news, we've put a new blog post up detailing our 2012 survey, which we invite everyone to complete (with a little bonus at the end), as well as a separate Gods & Kings offer available for 24 hours only :)

Have a pal thinking of preordering Darksiders 2 from here, and he's wondering when they charge you for the order. Thanks in advance for any answers.

I'm surprised this thread isn't more active. GMG has killer pre-order deals.
I know, getting credit for some games is the best thing ever. I could've gotten Quantum Conundrum for $6 on release date. I'm saving dat credit for Skullgirls on PC though.

Battlefield 3 Premium isn't cross platform is it? I have friends that play it on the 360 and if 1 Premium account worked on both PC and Xbox 360, i would consider it for this price.

Sold out of keys. They're trying to get more before the sale is over, but might not happen because it's the weekend.

Ugh, they're not likely to extend the offer right? GMG is so goddamn incompetent, every interaction I've had with them has been annoying at the least and at worst (best?) they gave me two working keys for Dead Island because they screwed up handling the keys.

Actually why would anyone buy from them instead of directly from ArenaNet if they charge the same price?

Because they charged $42 instead of $60. :P

Wait you mean they're charging $42 even without the site wide discount?

25% off + 3$ for trading in some free games they gave out there prior.

It doesn't use their service, but gives you a key right for Anet's site. Same place you get when you purchase directly from Anet.

Yeah so what I'm saying is that since they ran out keys and the 25% off offer will expire before they get more keys, what's the point of buying it from them for $60?

you made your own point, no one would buy from them unless they can sell it for less

I didn't know this thread existed, from what i've read and personal experience, i learned a few things:

- You cant get a full refund on preorder after 48 hours, after that the best you can get is store credit

- you can't refund an unused code unless you never received it. but sometimes, according to the system, it says you got it even when you really haven't so they think you already got your code and cannot give you a refund.

- customer service will respond within 3 days. i've contacted them twice, and both times they've taken full advantage of the 3 day rule.

- they offer a bomba deal like 25% off over the weekend when no one is around to maintain their system, so when they get back on on Monday they can say, "ohh sorry the offer is over, we can't help" (i know monday is the last day for the offer)

for the last point, PROVE ME WRONG GMG

Maybe they do it over the weekend so the most people will get visibility of it? No point having a 48 hour sale if people are at work or asleep for 32 of them.

Was a bit bitter with the whole sleeping dogs being cheaper of the weekend after i prepurchased it on an earlier deal, so i went to support.

i prepurchased this for ~$36 a while back, but with the promo this weekend i can get it for $30. Could I get a price match, or just cancel my prepurchase so I can take advantage of the new deal?

Thanks!

And today they replied:

While you've missed the promotion, I've credited the difference to your account in store credit. I hope that's okay!
Regards,
Green Man Gaming Customer Service

And that's how you develop loyalty folks. GMG will forever be my go to pc lot for prepurchases.

so i was proven wrong. now i'f you'll excuse me i'm ganna go hide in a corner with my tail between my legs.

So buying the Guild Wars 2, I will get a key for the game, I can just download the client from the Guild Wars 2 official site and redeem the key, right? I won't need to use the Capsule client for anything and I won't need to download the game from Green Man Gaming, correct?

Correct. It even says on the GW2 page "This title does not use capsule"
