Green Man Gaming Thread: Save some green, man

It does worry me... nobody else seems to use this model to draw in customers. Steam has a lot of sales but they don't let you pick and choose. I hope it's working for them.

I simply don't see how their aggressive discounting of new games can be profitable, but I love it.

I suspect the well will run dry eventually, but I have to say, this has lasted a lot longer than I thought it would. I remember first finding out about GMG last summer (think it was around the time the new Deus Ex came out) and thinking their streak of good deals would last maybe through the end of that year tops. And yet here we are at the end of 2012, and GMG is still cranking out awesome deals.

The vast majority of their deals are sub 30% and I assume they get a 30% cut from all sales, same as other DD services, so as long they don't have a very large upkeep cost they can make a small profit even with these deals.

I was a HUGE Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance fan. How well does The Lord of the Rings: War in the North compare? Its the same developer, minus Chris Avellone and maybe more.

Any thoughts? (Its 7 Euros on GMG)

It's been a while since I've played Dark Alliance, but I enjoyed WitN well enough. It's standard fare hack n' slash with some loot scattered around. I was more interested in the story, and it didn't disappoint there.

It's been 75% off before(including on GMG) so I'd wait anyway.

One of the biggest disappointments of the generation for me personally. I read all these complaints about Dungeon Siege III, and then read all these great impressions from LOTR: WitN. The gameplay is okay, but the loot is boring and characters doesn't have that many abilities. I was expecting something like the Norrath and Dark Alliance games, but was left disappointed.

WITN has some issues. I can't play coop in certain areas or else the game crashes. My only guess is the game has issues with my 7950.

The biggest issue it has is that it is really weird about how people doing coop have to have characters that are at the same exact point in the plot, otherwise everybody but the host is stuck with characters that won't save. So basically cooping the game means

That said, the game is actually fun and shows that a more Gears of War-esque linear stage design with more set pieces actually works quite well with a lootwhore game.

Does anyone know if the 35% off code you get with buying Tomb Raider works with Bioshock Inifinite?

EDIT

Wait, I was wrong. The deal is still going on.

Is there any way to get around some of the weird GMG region restrictions where it will show you a game but not let you actually buy/preorder it? I'm not talking about where it will 404 in one region, it shows the page, just no purchase button.

http://www.greenmangaming.com/s/bh/en/pc/games/shooter/dead-space-3-limited-edition-na/

Dead Space 3 seems to be a good deal as preorders go with the current 30% off code and the 35% off voucher it will give you after

Is Miner Wars 2081 any good? It's $4.99 today ($3.75 with GMG25-CZPYL-D5MQ6). It's also a Capsule game, but apparently Steam keys are available for customers through the dev's site.

All I've heard about it is that it has Diablo 3 style always on DRM, which was enough for me to write it off.

It's fine and worth $3.75 if you go in expecting a mission based game with focus on action/combat and infiltrating or escaping bases inside asteroids and stuff like that. If you're looking for trade and sandboxy elements like great space games of the past you'll be disappointed. If you just want to pew pew through a storyline you'll most likely enjoy it.

Ahh, that was the little fragment of caution I was remembering.

Sold :) The price is good enough to overlook the bruises, and X is always there for whenever the urge to space baron overtakes

Also if anyone's wondering the Steam key's little hassle to acquire. They're available directly through the same menu you enter your serial key into once you've signed up for your account.

Hold on a second need some guidance XD

1-Is the survey at their page, i.e. no need for a twiter account.

You don't need twitter. The survey is up at surveymonkey and you get a code there. No worries.
2-If you get the disocount code of 35%, you can use it on top of say a game that is disscounted sunday, for a total of 65% discount?

Doubtful but i had to ask.
Oh man, this would be sweet. But I doubt it... :/

P.S. will GMG have some sort of their own Xmas sale?

I already tried, you can't stack these codes. But you don't add vouchers like that (35%+30%) since weekend deals are on vouchers. You first take the highest % and then put the next voucher of the new price. Second voucher will discount less dollars than the first one since the new price is lower. It'll just differ a couple of dollars though, if it worked. It does work when the games are on sale without voucher, like FEAR 3 today.

You actually don't have to complete the survey for the code, but they do ask nicely to complete the survey.

You can't stack vouchers, I think, but if a game is discounted in store, you can add a voucher on top, unless the game's page states otherwise.

Of course, i understand that but i worded it poorly. But thanks for clearing that up Manager XD

Is Far Cry 3 up on their American version of the site? Do I just not see it? Got that 35% credit, really wanted to use it on that...

I figured, thought it was worth pointing out but I edited it now to make it more clear. It does (most often) work when the games are on sale without voucher, like FEAR 3 today.

I think it's Europe only (?), says so on the winter discount page.

Try www.greenmangaming.com/games/far-cry-3/

Ok,

So GMG just sent me a 35% off code for a winter survey that I must have done. I'm thinking I can use that towards Bioshock: Infinte which will give me back $15 in GMG bucks + another 35% could which is part of their current preorder deal. That's insane!

I'm pretty sure Infinite is not eligible for coupon codes since when you buy it you already get $10 back or $15 in GMG credit.

Batman: Arkham City GOTY is $5.62 if you use coupon GMG25-CZPYL-D5MQ6 it goes down to $4.87 if you didn't use your 35% off coupon yet by doing the winter survey

How are they able to sell the games for so cheap? God damn.

I just bought Tomb Raider with the 35% discount code: WINTR-SRVEY-42012, for $29.25. I mean , if games were priced like this i would buy all my games day 1 lol.

I really love how Square Enix just doesn't give a fuck about the discounts. It makes me really want to support their stuff on day 1.
