GT4 va Forza vs Enthusia

As a bit of a Car nut, I've always loved the GT series, although exactly how much it has progressed since the original came out late 97 is questionable.

Is the latest version still the best car game ever made, or are the two new challengers worthy competition?

How about we break it down into categories then.

Graphics

Realism (controls, handling, damage)

Number / range of cars

Gameplay

GT4 >>>> GT4: Prologue in graphics, "handling", and gameplay.

Hence, it's impossible to know the ranking until Enthusia and Forza are released. As it looks, Forza will be more accessible and gamepad friendly than GT4 while Enthusia may offer better physics with poorer graphics than GT4.

I dunno why this kind of topics are extremely growing around here, we will say it for the billion time, there are a huge differences between the final version of GT4 and the Prologue version, GT4 is impossible to be defeated, at least in this generation.

Graphics - GT4/Enthusia.

Realism - Enthusia. All signs have it being the most realistic of the 3 (the US GT4 producer even singled it out as being "too realistic").

Gameplay - GT4. Lots of different racing types.

Cars - GT4

Enthusia seems to have more racing types with Dakar stlye dune racing and the Initial D style mountain tracks though I dont know if Enthusia has drag racing or not.

Yah Enthusia would be in right behind GT4 in that area.

Enthusia pretty much got my full attention from the second they released the car physics video. I don't know how they got it looking that good when no other racer right now even comes remotely close to doing that.

Where did you see this comment by the US GT4 producer?
Curious to see what else he said...

Feb OPM issue inside of the GT4 special:

Konami, I think, may be taking the whole notion of realism perhaps a little too seriously, but if they get it right, it will maybe last longer.

Link?

I'm tired of GT series never addressing vital problems. The physics in GT4 are much improved but far from 'real.' I mean you can't even do the cop maneuver for christ sake! Forza... i can't play a SIM with a joystick, minus F355.

I'm ready to move on and Enthusia is the new pussy in town.

Hmm..pussy.

Lovely video. I want that wheel (the DFPro stock wheel is tiny and makes 900 degree motion harder than it needs to be).

BTW, what's the cop manuever?

When you go behind a car and nodge it in the corner. The car, if it follows the laws of physics, has to spin around. Cops do this when chasing people, thus the cop maneuver.

TOCA1 did this, just as many other racing sims do. GT has never done it.

I would like to see the car list for Enthusia, seems weaksauce right now. Where be them supercars at? And they must let you flip the cars. Not becuase i want to, but if it can happen, then it should happen - unlike GT4.

That's more collision physics than anything, though... we all know GT's collision model is "iffy" at best. It's still the best non-competitive any-car track day simulator, though :)

SSx, I believe you can pull off that move in GT.

Regardless of which one you choose, you'll think it's outdated 6 months later when they release another one.

Hmm the quickest a GT sequel has been released is a year after its release and that was GT2. GT3 took 2 years, and GT4 took 3 years.

By "another one", I mean racing game of course, especially with the Xbox 2 launching this Fall.

I wouldnt be suprised if they are not already making a Forza 2. The saleen crash video for the xna demonstraion would be a good start as to what X2 graphics would be like.

Imo, quality physics are directly related to gameplay in racing games. If the game have great control to support it, it's a winner.
Then comes the graphics/sound to support the whole experience. Enthusia seems to be pretty near GT4 even in this department...

The amount of car and track is important but useless if what i talked about before isn't greatly done. Since we don't know the exact numbers of cars and track for either Forza or Enthusia, i wouldn't consider it in my argument so far.

My bet is... Enthusia > GT4 > Forza

This thread is retarded.

Whoever said one game or the other is best among the three is also retarded, considering some of them aren't even out yet.

Never heard of "speculation"? We think it's fun sometimes.

This site has a bunch of Forza pics I've never seen. They look good!

Exactly. Why do people enter these threads in the first place. Its quite obvious what they're about. If you're not interested then don't enter to start with, and certainly don't comment.

Actually GT2 released 2 years after GT.

GT - Dec 97
GT2 - Dec 99 (2 years later)
GT3 - Apr 01 (15 months later)
GT4 - Jan 05 (nearly 4 years later)

Solid, i SO HOPE that someone someday (maybe Enthusia!) will show the world that Polyphony can do better with GT. I'm glad Konami is trying at sim racers.

Exactly, that's my point. Polyphony revolutionised things with GT. It was amazing. But since then they've just been really lazy with the series.

GT4 is a pretty significant impreovement as far as physics go I think. Next gen is when it's going to go to car damage according to Kaz. They're also going to work on some kind of camera function that'll allow you to take a picture of a car and put it in the game. Don't know how that's going to work though. I guess that'll make up for the significant drop in car models it's going to have compared to GT4.

WTF, I cant even imagine how this would be even plausable. I can see pictures being used as textures but turning a digital image into fully modeled car? no way.

I don't really understand that either but its what Kaz brought up when he was talking about the car damage that'll be present in GT5.

"- Polyphony Digital also announced the development of Gran Turismo 5 for PlayStation 3, the game will have damage model for the first time, to make the game more realistic. GT5 will support the EyeToy camera, you can take pictures of a car and the game can use it to build a custom car."

How can you take a decent picture with an EYETOY, outside?

:lol

The resolution of the eyetoy couldnt be more than 640X480 could it? You could take several pics of a diecast model though.

Sheesh.

Graphically there's really nothing between the three. In fact, GT4 could well be the worst of the 3....

yeah and the proof is 1080i @ 60 fps...

please guys, buy GT4 and spend more than 12 hours in the game and you will be sure that GT series never been defeated and it will not be.

I got the Jpanese version, the only word can describe it = Masterpiece.

In terms of pictures that I've seen, Forza certainly looks better than Enthusia. And though I'm not sure about Forza, apparently Enthusia plays like [relative] poo. Not much encouraging about it.
