GT4 va Forza vs Enthusia

Here are some GTR shots from my 9800PRO @ 1280x960 4xAA 16xAF for comparison. And yes, it has a cockpit..

P.S. marvelharvey, we should play GTR someday when I get a wheel, so you can pwn me real bad ;)

Konami says no Enthusia Wheel for US and recomends importing it from Japan. Still waiting to get a confirmation that the US Enthusia will work with the Jpn wheel.

And finally, me at the Tokyo Game Show winning the 'fastest lap' competition on Enthusia:

Uh....why do you have that white outline around your body like a bad photoshop?

ha ha.

Hey Geks, where you're getting this info from? Did you email KOnami? Tell 'em they best include the Konigsegesgges if they want to beat Gran Turismo!!!

And is Ferrari in teh game? Seems not.

Yeah the Mapple Valley track looks very nice. I have a video (camcorder) of it, but I'm still waiting for MS greenlight about it :(

Shiiiiiit.

I've only just got round to looking at these photos- you have an Ultima?

How long have you had it- did you build it yourself?

There's one at home on the go at the moment, gonna be a beast when it's all finished.

I think I can see why it`s 30fps now. The environment on that track in the video is HUGE. I think it`s a waste though, would have much preferred simpler surroundings and 60fps. Shame.

New screens from IGN. :/ Tracks look nice, but these cars do nothing for me. Where'd the reflections go? Are some effects disabled on this version or something?

Looks like someone took a sander to that Ford GT and that car up ahead of the Ferrari better have lost a wheel to be cuasing that much sparkage.

Am I nuts, or did this Enthusia game receive horrible impressions at last year's E3? (based on gameplay, not graphics)

Forza has been by far the most technically stunning game of the 3...but obviously the art is lacking.

3 different pixel shadows to represent the different lights, and they add up nicely as well. Pretty crazy...if games of the future boast this kind of lighting...

youre joking, right? look at that screen and tell me again, that you want future games looking as bad as this!

60fps - thats the number 1 rule for building a superior racing game.

Why do you guys even bother arguing this? Lets look at racing game VS threads through GAF history, shall we?

GRAN TURISMO 1/2 vs RIDGE RACER PSX

GRAN TURISMO 2/3 vs SEGA GT

GRAN TURISMO 3 vs PROJECT GOTHAM

GRAN TURISMO 4 vs FORZA/ENTHUSIA

Guess who wins a lot!

Sad Konami isn't bringing the Enthusia wheel to US/EU...Anyways if you ask me I am seeing a lot of things in Enthusia that make me believe I'll enjoy it more than GT...
Let's wait a bit more.

Have you ever played it Gek ?

I don't know why everyone keeps taking shots at Forza. You know it looks great. You've seen the videos and comparisons of identical tracks in the two games. (Forza and GT4)

I'd still take GT3's visuals over any other racer released in the US so far. If a realistic look is what you're aiming for, GT3 still does that better than any other racer at the moment. GT4 and Enthusia will change that once they're released here, but till then its all GT3.

Because in the long run all 3 of these games are aiming for 1 thing, and that's to look realistic. Forza has never looked realistic, not in screens, not in videos. That's its problem. Samething went for PGR2 which never looked realistic. Enthusia and GT4 both have a realistic look, which is why they both get more praise than Forza.

I personally think racing simulations are boring and don't know anything about what goes into them, but I've seen more than a few instances of identical tracks with identical cars in which Forza had the greater amount of detail.

And isn't the "GT4 is a sim" argument been debated and beaten to death? I don't think any of these games do everything realistically. That's what is fun about them. (to some people, not me)

I'm referring visuals though, and that's what all 3 of these games are trying to achieve. There's nothing wrong with looking realistic in a racer, it actually gives the game more appeal when it does look more realistic. So even if you aren't a sim fan you can still judge whether or not the visuals look realistic. That's Forza's main problem. It might be throwing around thousands of more polys than either of the other 2 racers, but it doesn't look realistic. And when that's what you're trying to achieve, and you miss it, the amount of polys doesn't really matter.

Uh, why has Gamestop changed the Enthusia date to May???? If the constantly delayed GT4 has caused Konami to push back this hopeful GT killer due to marketing stradegy then I will be seriously pissed.

It definetly got pushed back because of GT4. Releasing a racer next to that makes no sense. They've gotta space out the release of Enthusia unless they want to it get completely overlooked.

Konami just updated the Enthusia site with info on the Randomly Generated Desert Courses:

"The terrains in the desert courses change each time you play. There are no fences on the side of the tracks so when you go off course, the car becomes stuck and you will retire from the race. This course requires the driver's overall skills rather than memorization.

Rally races in deserts do not have predetermined paths. The desert also changes landscape constantly.

Feel the thrill of racing"

Tired of taking an either underpowered or overpowered car to a race? Looks like Konami found a way to solve this problem with their Odds sysyem:

"The odds system is a revolutionary new method for weighing the competitive abilities of cars. Cars with low odds stand a higher chance of winning, while cars with high odds don't. It lets players compete based purely on their own driving skills rather than the capabilities of the car. For example, the car with higher odds finishing in 4th place can earn higher ranking points than with cars of lower odds finishing at 1st place. Taking a quick look at the odds of each car gives you a good indication of who stands to win a race.

The odds system lets good drivers aim for the championship even in cars with lesser specs. Ranking points last for just twelve weeks, meaning that you've got to race constantly to maintain a top ranking."

Enthusia recently had a press event in Dubai. Look familiar?

I just canceled my pre-order after reading this on another forum. I hope its not true but I will not buy GT4 US if it is. Oh and bail on the first gen PSP too!

finally got to talk to my friend, he's been at work 9-9 everyday for the past week

since he is incharge in the online department, all he did was tested Lan play.
he said the whole SCEA office is pissed and didnt see any reason of testing the game since its already being produce by the time they actually receive it. if there are any errors or problems, its not gonna be fixed on the first release. they are gonna release a newer build in the future. probably under "The Best"

what my friend notice when testing
- Garage cars were not present in arcade mode on the US version
- Car errors will not be fixed. He brought up all the bugs we've found and PD answered with some bull**** saying "It's the design" so the Cooper S is not getting the 6th gear
- Lan play is poorly set up
- Didnt tell me anything about new cars, but then he wont know since he never played the JP version

on a side note, his team is currently testing PSP's online capabilities....
he said that the first gen PSP hardware is causing quite a bit of problem. and they are fixing the design internally atm.
and he also noted that they have received the 2nd gen PStwo, internally stated as the L-Chassis. (first gen PStwo were the K-Chassis) , dont ask me about the difference
he recommended that to wait for the 2nd gen PSP, should be out a few months after the launch

i also asked him about PS3
he said no known prototypes have been sent to the US. and have no idea whats going on in Japan

lets just hope the US version is not a directly translated version and actually is the PAL release
