GTA 6 trailer 2 looks incredible, why does it need another year

Because the game is more than a cinematic trailer?

Death Stranding 2 also looked awesome and even included gameplay in its first trailer...I guess it was ready to launch months ago!

The game looks incredible and ready to go..... the graphics are amazing

Im still confused why it needs another whole year
The main story is probably finished by now, but a game with the size of GTA with alot of side missions and activities will require alot of polish. They will probably spend the last year finishing or adding some more side stuff, optimizing the game for the platforms is releasing, and ironing all the bugs they find.

Yeah, they're in the polishing/bug fixing stage.

Rumors have it the world/map is 5 times bigger than GTAV. You can tell by some screenshots how far away some of the cities that were released and seeing zero Vice/Miami skyline at all.

It's 'gameplay' if/when it's showing something where a player is actively controlling the character/vehicle in my book.

It's gameplay when I'm actually controlling the game. Take that !!
I think is safe to say we had some gameplay trailers a couple months leading to GTA5 launch.. so a cinematic cutscene trailer one year off is not indicative the game is ready, its a very nice showing of the engine though.

Google what a vertical slice is. You just saw that in the trailer.
Bro a vertical slice is something you make before entering development, where you create something that you want the game to strive for.

This trailer has a mix of gameplay and cutscenes, like every rockstar story trailer.

Its not a vertical slice.

Whats wrong with you folks? Its like you've never ever seen a Rockstar marketing campaign or story trailer.

Yep. both GTA5 and RDR2 followed the same pattern.

We will get a gameplay labeled trailer 3 to 4 months out. Broken record posting for every game in existence and all.

GTA V first trailer also looked phenomenal back in the day. Unfortunately many things didn't end up in the final game…

Only a few things

But 99% is in there as is.

And the game looks a lot better than the announcement trailer.

The only thing I remember is the crop duster

In general, R* releases dont have many bugs to start with. maybe the PC ports can have a few but still....

Yes, but just like any games Rockstar game are too buggy before they release, and you don't know need to work at Rockstar to know this , it's just pure logic

A complex game like this would need lot of time just for cleaning the bug

Quality control. Game could be finished, but there's a lot of bugs and shit to clean

Don't let yourself get based on a trailer. Cyberpunk looked amazing in the session that a lot of people were invited, but everything was limited and was a omission of truth. It took a year after launch to have a great play experience
i think its oppositie, its due to content ,its looks finished but any way it isnt up to fans expectations and it could be seen as cyberpunk flop.

They're delaying it so that online will be ready Day One. Because they want all that Shark Cash Card moolah.

You single-player gamers who made GTA the cultural phenomenon it is? Yeah, fuck you. You don't matter to Rockstar. Only pay-to-win whales with more money than brains.

So people would say fuck all other games, I'm going to buy GTAVI cause it's working and don't want to see it aging before it becomes playable.

Hi. Developer of 25+ years coming in to assist.

A trailer can be done with in-game assets, and there may be a nice mix of in-game targets and cut-scene visuals. You can build a trailer in the first few months of a game or in the last few months. It's not a fixed rule about the "when".

The content in a game needs time to build, play-test, fine tune and build upon. Keep in mind that open world games can be more complex to design for, particularly with 100s of people on staff.

Rockstar doesn't need to stick to firm dates in the same way others do, because they and their publisher has assurance the game will make the money back and then some. And it's likely they'll deliver something amazing in its own right.

So they can iterate on what they have, revise things, throw away things. And pioneer on things we don't know about secretly (which may also be what's taking the time).

Good art takes time. Good tech takes care. Good art and tech takes time and care.

May this help you understand.

You want Rockstar to rush GTA 6 out the door, OP? If they delayed the game, then that means more work needs to be done in other areas, or they currently aren't satisfied with certain aspects and want to make them as perfect as possible. There could be bugs that need squashing, further optimization, they could be making the game look even better etc.

May 2026 is the release date they've set.

This is my two cents which ain't worth nothing ...

The game is no where in a state to be shipped. Yes from what we seen so far it looks great, however it's a only a trailer.

Perhaps they haven't entered full on bug-fixing stage (would make sense with another year to do so). Perhaps there are core features yet to be implemented (they did say they wanted to avoid crunch) Perhaps gta6 online is holding things up.

By adding another year to dev it is safe to say the game is no where near 100% complete and ready as a carefully curated trailer would indicate.
