What with the massive leak we've just witnessed would it be out of the question to assume a trailer showing off a more recent build comes out soon, I've read that the leak itself was from an older 2019 build.

Assuming Rockstar want to shake off this situation somewhat a great way to do it would be to show off a better quality build in an action packed trailer to stick it to the leaker.

A situation like this happened with Last of us part 2 so it's not unprecedented, What does everybody think?

No. That would be the wrong approach. They are going to keep to their schedule. The only major thing I could see changing is I think they planned for a big reveal wrapped around introducing the first female lead in a GTA 3D game, I imagine they'll likely change a bit of the markeitng on that to make it less centered around it.

But still, this game is to early for treailers, we're likely still a little less than a year out for the first trailer (I expect a trailer in June 2023, with a release date of 2024).

Nothing to suggest it was a new build, in fact developer's are known to use older builds which are more stable where newer builds are not. Also some people are trying to make out for some reason GTA 6 won't look much better than GTA 5 due to this leak. I'd suggest comparing RDR2 to GTA 5 and expect a similar improvement from RDR2 to GTA 6.

No. They will show the game when its ready to be shown. The leak thread already demonstrated than even in a dedicated videogame forum like GAF, alot of ppl is unable to understand that alpha footage missing assets do not represent the final look of the game.

I don't think they necessarily need to get a trailer out. I would recommend it though. People are genuinely questioning the graphics / potential of cross gen. And no matter how many lawyers they have chasing down streamers, people will keep posting stuff about the leaks, and negative hot takes sell clicks. The damage that can cause to the brand may be miniscule, but the value of the brand makes the risk way higher than the cost of a solid "keep the faith" trailer IMO.

Yeah that's what info I gathered as well. The most recent build is v.542 so it's looking like a November 2023 release to 1.0…
