GTA 3's Liberty City - totally different game. Local Wifi only. Christ in a box.

GTA games are begging to go online i mean, its really the next evolution for this series and its a shame that they couldnt do it online, still, it should be great with local wi fi....how many players?

supposedly you cant play it on 1.5 even with the version changer, but i'd wait till tomorrow when there's more confirmations

noooooo my precious 1.5... you could always upgrade to 2.0 then use the downgrader right?? Hows the 2.0 homebrew going .... ahhhh!!

Flipping firmware back and forth is asking for pain eventually.

Apparently they got an SNES, NeoGeo CD, and Genesis emus working.

yeah I was just reading the PSP 1.5 thread... so I guess its upgrade time! Honestly I don't care much about EMUs, the novelty wore off after abit (nice to know they still work) what about fastloader though? I am addicted to WO:P @333Mhz (and storing 2 games on my memory stick so I don't have to cart around a bunch of UMDs)

edit: as I suspected... fastloader is incompatible.

I confused. They say the control is aweful but the amount of gameplay makes up for it?

Bah, confusing.

I really, really want to see what this is all about now. Cant wait to play it.

No amount of gameplay makes up for that. But ignore me, both because I'm Speevy and because I hate this series.

You see the controls are so aweful and you have to play so much, while using aweful controls, that it is just so much fun!

Are the controls worse than the console games?

hmm thats kind of a dumb question... the PSPs buttons/nubs are worse than the dualshocks... but I never really thought the controls in GTA where that great to start off with.

so is it worse because of the PSPs limitations? or just worse in genral?

It feels like I've been waiting for an eternity for a PSP killer app to surface... such a shame that I'm one of the 0.001% of people that find the GTA series incredibly dull and boring.

So, while the 99.999% of you enjoy this... please think of me, sitting alone in the corner with no PSP killer apps to enjoy ;(

I'm sorry, call me pestimistic, but after reading those reviews, I'm not understanding how the game got anything above an 8.0. Grant it, I stopped likeing GTA games after Vice City, but still, most of the bad stuff are outweighing the good stuff. Maybe I'm just being an ass-hole. O_o

You should get it anyway to encourage this level of production value for PSP games. :)

You could look at porn on your PSP and spank it away while you sit alone in the dark corner. It might be different but it's still a handheld experience with a insured payoff.

Not that I find them "dull and boring," but I won't be buying it either because GTA games are all the same, especially now that they're rehashing the same cities. I'll be saving my money for importing Tales of Eternia next month. Now where's Tengai Makyou: The Apocalypse 4? That's the REAL psp killer app.

IGN's review doesn't read like it's a game that deserves a 9.0 :(

All it talks about is what's annoying. I don't think I'm going to buy this game. Maybe if I play someone elses copy it will change my mind, but it just doesn't sound very fun after reading that review. Sounds like I will be fighting with the game the whole time I'm trying to have fun.

Wait, you aren't buying GTA because they're rehashing the same city, but you're buying ToE which is a rehash of an entire game?

At least they aren't calling it a "new game." :lol Seriously though, GTA is OK, but the games all play the same, like (As I've said before) Megaman with blood. Now Tales of Eternia is a port, which I don't mind, of one of my favorite games in my favorite game series of all time.

I don't think the DS can compete now.

Because of one game? people will buy this one game, beat it, then what? They will want other games, and unless PSP can keep pushing new games that everyone wants, the DS will compete. I recall this "DS has no chance" thing being said when the psp was announced, when its specs were announced, when it launched with 24 games, and DS is still doing fine, one game will not be the death of the DS. (For the record, I DO have both systems, and for me, the DS has a way stronger library. Trust me, what GTA is to most people, Tengai Makyou: The Apocalypse 4 will be to me, but I still have no intention of selling my DS or stopping playing it because one game came out for PSP.)

Boggles the mind doesn't it? :lol

Yes, I guess PORN is the PSP's killer app for me ;)

Geez, with the amount of effort in regards to voice acting, translating controls to PSP, making a new engine, crafting a story, making side missions, making all the neat little quirky inside jokes all over the city (and on the radio) and all the details of the radio stations I'd say it's a bit of an insult calling this a rehash or a port or something along those lines.

Does anybody else find this tidbit in IGN's review disturbing:

Sure, there's plenty to do when all you have is five minutes, but traveling across three islands (multiple times during some missions) is excessive. Add this to the fact you can't save the game wherever you want (only at the game's three safe houses) and things become very unfriendly.
