Anyone saying this is fine as they they don't like or play online are badly missing the point. This would be another example of a greedy fucking company removing content just to sell it back to you. Fuck 2K.

What content is being removed
The rumour is this topic is that GTA Online could be sold separately, whereas it was included in GTA 5 and Red Dead 2 had its version included.

Yes, they sold the online part on its own for like £12 (can't remember exact price) years later, but that was for people who didn't have or want the main game.

Charging for GTA online at all is just greedy. It's a money printer. Initial sales are a drop in the bucket.

I feel like they're charging for it simply so they can jack up the price of the single player bundle because "GTA Online is included". It also give it an illusion of prestige over all the other f2p offerings out there.

No, hence the "other"

Edit: Never mind, I see what you're saying. I suppose I should've used a comma between "other" and "f2p". However, the meaning is very clear in context.

CoD MP doesnt have any prestige over Fortnite or Apex Legends.

The cost of an experience has little bearing on whether it is considered prestigious or not.
The content however, if they can FOMO you in game, thats where the "prestige" shows up.

So this is how they achieve the rumoured $100 price point. I'm happy with just the campaign, will try online if/when they put it on PS+.

This how they're go to fuck £100 out of us. £70 for the single player content and & £30 for the multiplayer content.

Just like the old times when Nintendo looked to charge £60 for SF 2 and then another £60 for Turbo so one could play as the bosses
1994 £60 in today's money is £120

And the less said about the price of Turok on the N64 the better

If this were true, Rockstar would be in for a nasty surprise. Many people who buy their game would rather pay for the online mode only. Rat kids don't give a damn about story mode.
Which is why the base game will be required for the online. Or they do 70 SP only, 70 MP only, 100 both.

It'll probably work as well.

I'd go so far to say It'll start new trend in the industry where a majority of publishers will sell the MP mode separately from the SP mode.
Of course it will work. GTA 5 generated something like 8 billion in revenue.

The vast majority of people aren't going to care about this, they'll just want to be on the multiplayer with their friends so they'll pay it.

Lol, no. GTA will end up costing over 1 bil to develop. In comparison to everything else in the industry, it is a massive bargain for consumers
C'mon and the won't even dub their games with that budget, for authenticity reasons, yet you hear foreigners in the game clearly dubbed by Americans faking an accent lol.

Im expecting them to really push the boundaries on price and Im preparing for sticker shock.

If any game is going to be able to shake things up for game prices, it's this.

Yeah so what's the difference? People who want just the online aspect of the game can buy that online-only version. People who want the single player story version get the online included. There's no cut content for sale. Also like you said, this is the way gta and rdr2 have been for years. The prices of these are just pure speculation. No one has any idea of the price.

Can't wait for the massive cope coming of people trying to swear this game is of the nostalgic quality they anoint R* with.

Rockstar is not what they were. This game is going to be mid af. People will rave, it will sell plenty - but deep down, it will be mid af and everyone will be scared to admit it.

On top of that, this move is douchey af. They make plenty of money for absolutely ridiculously low output, more "transactions" for video game products that will be normalized. Ew.

This industry. Working in it was something. Reporting on it was something else. Just being a gamer in it... Has become bland. Ew.

They mastered their craft to perfection, it's going to be single player so people focus on that at the release of the game, then a month of two later Online is ready and they pump that shit out with so much dlc and content updates that will make credit cards melt
