GTA V Had 10 Single Player DLC's Planned - Twitter Thread w/ Details

Would love to compare how 10 years of GTA Online compares financially to 10 years of singleplayer DLC, but is there even a single example of this business model that isn't 10 years of new trains for some niche train simulator?

So why cancel these? I guess GTA online was doing so well they didn't want to canabalize that? I feel those that want single player DLC and those that want live service multiplayer options don't overlap much but I could be wrong. Were these ideas saved for RDR2/GTAVI? R* knows how to allocate their resources I just wonder what happened to this stuff. It sounds better than the shyte main story GTAV had.

probably because the online stuff gives a greater return on investment so fuck those single player people and all that.

This is why the other thread talking about why we don't get as many AAA single-player first or third-person shooters...GAAS slop is cheaper to make and more profitable if your core multiplayer game appeals to enough people.

Oh well, indies-AA it is then.

I always hated Rockstar for this and I'm pretty sure there are more guys like me with no interest in playing GTAO. This means they wouldn't have to cannibalize each other. I'd buy good sp expansions, even if they weren't super cheap.

the zombies would have been epic.....makes me think this is what the battle arena cars were made for

seeing as how Undead nightmare is still the greatest DLC ever, in a city this size would have been so good

As much as I dislike GTAO it is hugely successful while the DLC for IV sold very poorly. To me it is some of the best DLC ever made but most gamers felt differently.

The game just stayed at the top of the charts for years, why would they put any effort into dlc when the game would not stop selling without it?

I didn't mind getting all those online dlcs which gave me almost 2000 hours of fun on GTA online. Don't care for the single story dlcs for V because I'm not too interested in the characters.

As much as I hate it, barely anyone bought the Single Player DLC expansions for GTA IV, RDR1 and L.A. Noire, and knocking out microtransaction shit for GTAO was a huge hit.

Fuck GTA Online, Rockstars greed, and everyone that supported that shit. Bad enough that devs are destroying themselves making games for a demographic that doesn't care about games. But gamers too doing shit to destroy the industry too. Rockstar is going to be milking GTAVI's online until the PS7. I doubt we'll ever get another red dead redemption.

I can understand wanting to push Online, especially with the money they can get from it but this game's life time was over a decade and they didn't think to even release one of those.....

The true DLC storyline was the alternate happy ending where people spent less time on a video game they seemingly enjoy enough to spend more money on but don't want to spend more time on because ultimately it's just more bullshit grinding.

I have more than a month since I have first played GTA V on Boosteroid. 15€ on Steam discount. I have 2 weeks now since I play Online. I'm new into this and I don't feel the reason to hate Online as everybody seems to show, maybe because I'm too early into the hole thing. 🤷🏻I never played GTAIV online but I have heard bad stuff about that era too. I do however wished that everything was actually in the single player, in the base game. I do however don't like the multiplayer approach, because some new content like missions requires real people to join, which can be tiresome for known obvious reasons. But I'm playing Online 95% Solo and it feels really fun, and I'm not bothered by anything. I won't support buying those shark cards and neither the membership+ which is a joke.

However I'm "scared" to see all the progress to be erased at some point similar to Ubisoft, The Crew, the reason I wished the hole content of Online was in the base game.

Money is an objection to content. When you have money already pouring from the windows, the devs get lazy and stop the work. That's why we are never getting Half-Life 3 either.
