Yeah but it's not like SoCal is snowy in the Winter.

But it does snow there on a rare occurrence and frequently enough in the mountains for ski resorts to be in business. The game's story takes place over the course of weeks if not months so there's plenty of time for Winter to come along.

North Yankt__ is likely a resort town.

I've been doing the same, and I've also seen all of the above... All my searches turn up the above results, so I feel like I've already watched all of the best ones now.

A good one I'd suggest is The Town. It's not set in LA (Boston), but is about heists and criminals in general and is a good one for the GTA vibe I feel.

Thief in particular not only is a heist movie set in LA, but it also has (one of the best) soundtrack from Tangerine Dream, who's working on the GTAV soundtrack.
It doesn't get better than that.

I hardly remember "Street Kings", but I think I found it rather mediocre. "Speed" might be another great choice. Not a heist movie but set in L.A. and still very fun to watch.
