GTA V has gone gold.

Michael looks like he's got more of a beard this go around.

Wondering if that means we can customize hair/beards? Or maybe it's that five o'clock shadow turning into something more.

The distinction between GTA V and GTA IV’s vehicle handling is immediately clear; carving my way through the throngs of 18-wheelers the low-slung supercar feels more sure-footed and grippy than similar models in GTA IV. It’s more responsive, but without erring towards feeling too superficial or light.

Thank you, Rockstar!

Thats was i was hoping for when looking at the pic.

Hair and facial hair were confirmed a while ago.

I seemed to have missed that- knew clothes/tattoos, but didn't get the hair bit.

I couldn't find it in the Game Informer article!

Edit: "Those with an eye for fashion can also customize the look of Michael, Franklin, and Trevor by giving them new haircuts, buying new clothes, and getting tattoos."

What do you mean?

What's this?

Read through the entire thing.

Yes, it read like they have been drinking the kool-aid and have bent over to please R*, but there were a couple of things I am happy to see.

One is the vehicle handling has been tweaked. Confirmation of the checkpoint system was another. Finally it seems like the missions will have enough variety to keep me going through the main story.

Got to say, having gone pretty much the entire time saying I wasn't going to get GTA V and that I could not care less about it, I have had a massive about face and am really looking forward to it.

Has there been any word yet about the controls/shooting from recent hands-on impressions? Since that's typically the biggest complaint you see in regards to R* games I'm just wondering how they're shaping up.

While there did seem to be some objective things they noticed, which you pointed out (checkpoints, vehicle handling), the way the writer was reacting to these things made it seem like a puff piece to me. Those are warmly welcomed but marginal improvements. Not anything to really flip your lid about. And "Oh, the detail!" comments ceased to do anything for me a long time ago. However, I must say that my general impressions of the game have made me a lot more interested in a GTA title than I was in the wake of the disappointing IV. I won't buy it at launch, but I'll almost certainly play through it at some point.

It controls and feels like MP3. You can even go prone and shoot from every direction.

The IGN article says Rockstar learned from RDR and Max Payne 3 so the shooting and cover mechanics are much improved and much tighter. Seems like at one point you could even go prone and shoot from every direction like Max but that could of been just for a mission.

Awesome to hear. Dare I push my luck and ask if their stupid lock-on aiming is in the game again?

That would be the scene in Trevor's trailer where he's firing an AK from a plane. I hope we can fire from the ground in normal gameplay, would be cool to bail out from a car, then shoot while getting up.

Free Aim or go home

You think a Soft or Newbie Lock is gonna score points for those who want to take down armored policemen?

I can hear the cries of "fucking bulletsponges!" now...

A car peels into the fracas but crashes moments later, leaving a trail of fuel on the asphalt. Lamar instructs me to shoot it and I oblige, setting the trail of petrol alight. A line of flame licks across the ground and back to the wrecked car, which explodes spectacularly.

Yippee Ki Yay Mr Falcon! :D
