I've been developing a time machine for the past decade. Based on my calculations, it should be finished within the next 70 years or so. When it is I'll travel back in time to THIS VERY POST, use the built-in teleporter to collect all you G(af)TA fools, and then zip ahead to the 17th before safely returning you all back to this very moment.

Basically, if all goes according to keikaku, we're already playing this bad boy. You're welcome :D

Well you had to fuck it up, didn't you?!

The game is pretty good, but I've had it for 70 years now. After beating it four times I don't have much desire to go back. Besides, Grand Theft Auto VIII is hands down the best in the franchise.

IGN's 11/10 for this one sure made for an entertaining GAF thread, though

Also, invest in "Vintage Creams and Greasy Ointments" when the store surfaces in thirty-five years. Trust me

question about the DLC is this game
http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/08/13/grand-theft-auto-v-dlc-to-be-region-locked
they said the DLC is locked region, is it like need for speed HP ?
i have PAL xbox
and i pre ordered the NTSC version ( i don't live in UK )
if i redeem the code using my US account in my xbox, will i'll be able to use the code or download other DLCs ?

and if i can download it, i am able to play it on my PAL account ?

Well... right at the top of that article:

A post on the Rockstar Support page advises fans against buying discs from other regions as it will result in issues when pre-order bonuses and DLC come to be played.

"For example, a North American PS3 GTAV disc (BLUS31156 code on spine of box), Japanese PS3 GTAV disc (BLJM61019 code on the spine of the box) or Asian PS3 disc (BLAS 50639 code on spine of box for Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan. BLKS20442 for Korea) will play on a European PlayStation®3 console.

"However, if you live in Europe (where the GTAV disc code is BLES01807) you will likely have a European PSN account that will not be able to redeem a US pre-order code, and will only be able to download Region 2 (European) DLC, incompatible with non-European discs."

You should probably contact Rockstar support or get the game that is for your region / console. I don't know a lot about region locking but the game is supposedly not censored for any region (right, this is still the case everybody?), so safe bet is to get the right game for your region/console and not risk it.

Does anybody know if the Microsoft Store offers release day shipping and does their preorder include the Atomic Blimp? I want to go there for the 1600 Microsoft points so I can bank them for the Xbox One launch and wasn't sure about those things.

You should get the blimp. The code will come inside the box for all pre-orders (basically the first run of the game). Even PSN digital pre-orders get a code for it.

Not sure on the shipping speed, though. Never ordered from the MS store.

Ok that's what I was thinking with the blimp. Hmm.. I guess I'll email them tomorrow

So guys I need an advice.

I'm planing to grab it from US PSN store and to play on my UK account, just one thing worries me.

Am I going to be able to play MP game? It's not region locked or something? Since Demons Souls was separated EU servers, US servers and Asia servers.

I heard the DLC might be region locked. Hang on... here you go.

Question: What languages does Grand Theft Auto V support? Are these languages included in all versions or does language support vary depending on the region of the game? Is the game region-locked or region-free?

Answer: Grand Theft Auto V's language support and region-lock status depend on the platform and the region.

PlayStation®3 (Region-Free*):

This language breakdown applies to disc-based and digital download versions.

•North America, Asia (Except Japan) – English, French, Brazilian Portuguese**, Korean, Traditional Chinese, Latin American Spanish

•Europe, Middle East, Russia – English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Russian, Brazilian Portuguese**, Polish

•Japan – Japanese and English

Xbox 360:

•Worldwide (Region-Free, including pre-order codes*) except for Japan – English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Russian, Brazilian Portuguese**, Polish, Korean, Traditional Chinese, Latin American Spanish

•Japan (Region-Locked to Japanese Xbox 360 Consoles) – Japanese and English
*It is generally recommended that you buy and play games that are designated for your country to avoid potential problems with DLC region-compatibility, such as with pre-order bonuses. For example, a North American PS3 GTA V disc (BLUS31156 code on spine of box), Japanese PS3 GTA V disc (BLJM61019 code on the spine of the box) or Asian PS3 disc (BLAS 50639 code on spine of box for Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan. BLKS20442 for Korea) will play on a European PlayStation®3 console. **May require setting the console to Brazilian Portuguese (not just Portuguese)

I have a feeling this game is gonna be amazing but at the same time certain game journalism sites are going to "White Knight" it like a motherfucker.

Just another week of school/work and then, GTA.

I have school at freaking 3 PM on release day, going to wake up early go pick up a copy, play for a couple of hours, go to my class, go back, play GTA. Repeat to eternity.

I'm getting more tired of reading people's critisism of IGN's articles.

Just be thankful you get anything at all.

Sorry, not trying to derail anything.

Personally, I am fine with waiting for the 17th. The attention IGN continues to get has bothered me for years. They are so amateur yet get all these big breaks like this GTA V exclusive coverage.

It's a discussion forum! I think discussing the quality of the ONLY trickle of pre-release info we're getting right now is valid. I've been chuckling at the criticisms ever since the first article surfaced.

And it feels incredible.

Now, I'm going to go get some snacks but when the article hits I'll streak back into this thread like a stabbed cat. It's going to be pure hollywood.

Can't wait to read more hollow, gushing praise.

Everyone QQs that there is no news, previews, screenshots or videos of a game. Then when we get something it just gets trolled and torn apart.

I bet if you were writing that article you would be pretty damn excited as well?! I doubt the actual article is aimed to be as in-your-face amazing praise as it is but its just how that guy has articulated his feelings about a minor 2-3 hour play test he got to experience. Plus being one of the first people to play the game outside of Rockstars friends and family and being the first person able to talk about it in a publication is going to add a lot to his excitement.

He isn't trying to write just for us gamer folk but for the admiration and jealously of every other gaming journalist out there. Also don't forget the general demographic that read IGN want content like those previews and a good majority of its readers are fairly immature when it comes to written articles so massive in-depth monotone preview wouldn't be read half as much overly blown out situational paragraphs.

Man I'm really gonna miss liberty city, I know I said this before but I hope we get a next gen remake for the sp or can travel there while in gta online. As someone who lives in NYC I feel like like they really captured the feel of the city. I just love hanging around in Bohan(Bronx) and upper west algonquin(manhattan), they feel and look just like their real world counterparts.

I've never been to LA but can't wait to see how Rockstar has created Los Santos.

Yes, most GAFfers aren't IGN's target audience, that much is true. And R* certainly is smart for giving IGN the exclusive because they know how much praise they'll pile on to make their game look even better (as if it needs it).

Still, demanding a higher level of quality from those that cover our beloved hobby is never a bad thing. Elevated discourse is probably what drew all of us to GAF in the first place, so it's only natural that we would push for that same degree of quality from the game news outlets we are dependent on for information.

LOL IGN changed the title for this days update.

"The Sum of All Peers: How a fistful of Rockstar's best have all inspired GTA V to be better than ever"

Seriously it's boring.

I don't recall many people moaning about their previews for Bioshock Infinite and TLOU both of which were just as gushing with little to no technical details dropped.

I hope the people jumping on IGN for this will be as outraged about these sort of previews in the future.

I'm not holding my breath though.

White Knighting is basically seeing something offensive in a video game the scrutinizing the shit out of it. Like prostitution, violence, rape, etc.

I always thought it meant someone who sided with/falsely complimented another person (usually a female) on the internet, with the sole purpose of getting laid, without of course being honest about it.

It’s when you begin to feel these somewhat familiar systems working in tandem together in GTA V that you appreciate just how heavily honed everything has been. Suddenly you’re prone on the wing of an aircraft, changing guns with a weapon wheel that cut its teeth in Red Dead Redemption and rolling onto your back in one fluid movement to fire at pursuers, just like Max in Max Payne 3.

Fuck yes.
