GTA V has gone gold.

I did the same and I still have 70 hours of vacay and PTO to use before the end of the year

Take off more :)

If anything, I'm kind of debating taking the 19th off.

But if I do, then the 20th will be sure to follow.

Then I'll just quit my job.

Quit Outside Life.

It's good to set limitations in life. I think.

Going forward how the hell Rockstar hope to make a GTA bigger then this, will be one of the big questions for the next gen.

The sheer scope and ambition is awesome. I've not been thier biggest fan this gen but they've redeemed themselves with this.

Well, if R* aren't going to leave their comfort zone of recreating NY/LA/Miami, the only other option I could see them taking on is America itself. Seeing footage of the world map from The Crew made me realise how a full country sized GTA could theoretically work. It's funny becase in The Crew landscape already looks off compared to the actual shape of the USA, but as a GTA renditon/parody it's spot on with how I'd picture it.

The important question is, would R* be able to resist making the peninsula of Florida look more like a giant dick than it already is?

1 hour to drive around the map?

Pretty shitty preview from The Sun but that's new, if they can be trusted. I wonder if they mean the coastline or end to end?

No way an hour from end to end. Not even Just Cause 2 is that big. I actually wonder how big GTA V will be in comparison to let's say Just Cause 2 or Far Cry 3. I've seen someone do the math and they say that GTA V will be the size of one island in Just Cause (the lower left one, the desert area) plus some water surrounding it.

Got the entire week of the 17th off to devote to GTA V. Stocking up on some Oktoberfest next weekend to prepare.

Notice it says AROUND the coast not coast to coast.
So am I right in assuming that GTA5 will be playable on PS4 (in PS3 form) once they get this Gaikai streaming up and going?

At this point I don't think its safe to assume anything, even if it does it will look worse than it does on PS3 because of video compression.

Should I go with day 1 digital or Physical?

I am 50/50 on swag like the poster and money clip. Would rather just buy them afterwards. I feel as if I'm down with GTA V for a long time so if I'm installing 8gb I may as well install the rest of it onto my harddrive.

If loading rates are better for the digital then I'm ready for digital. I dislike how I hear the disc reading noise on my slim when I was playing Red Dead Redemption. Games always run quieter for me digitally.

I'm hoping someone who has past experience with R* comparisons between the digital and physical versions can chime in.

not afraid to say I'm taking the 16th, 17th and 18th off for vacation
needed to use some vacation days, I still have a week left to take before the end of the year!

I too will be vacationing from work in Los Santos from the 17th until the 23rd. Hopefully I will have seen most of what there is to see out there and dont run into much trouble.

I'm just pissed there's no metal station. That's so wrong.
:'(

It is definitely my biggest disappointment of the game so far. Not that I enjoyed Liberty City Hard Core in IV, but at least the classic rock station had Iron Maiden and Black Sabbath.

That's such a minor complaint in the scope of things though, that I can't be TOO upset about it.

GAF I hate the PS3 triggers (and much less the PS3 analog sticks), and I don't have a PS3 headset for MP, but I preordered the PS3 version because I'm concerned about the 360 performance.

I'm really thinking I should switch to a 360 preorder. I have a nice headset on 360 and prefer the controller. And the latest IGN previews indicate they've played the 360 version with no issues and they look comparable. What say you GAF?

I think LC Hardcore was listed to so little they just went against it. I would rather have metal than country, but oh well.

I have an MLG Pro Circuit Controller for PS3 that lets you swap analog stick and d-pad types/layouts between PS3 and 360 styles. It also uses 360-style triggers.

Right now, I have 360-style analog sticks in the 360 layout with a PS3 d-pad.

My controller is ready, though, to be honest, after finishing TBoGT last night, I'm not sure how amped I am for GTA V.

I did love SA back in the day, but that was almost 9 years ago. My gaming tastes have since changed considerably.

How do they even know how many people listened to certain stations?

Also, after the amazing metal tracks featured in VC and VCS, it really will be disappointing if there's no classic metal in the final game.

Maybe they should look closer to home and do a full game set in the UK.

GAF I hate the PS3 triggers

Get some Giotek triggers, they're super cheap and make a world of difference. Here in the UK you can get them on Amazon for like £1 with free shipping for a pair. They just clip on and make the controller way more comfortable. I got 2 packs in prep for GTA V.

When you say offline you mean shut off your wireless and unplugged the Ethernet cord? Do those people even exist?

Well, not me, but it's not like every single player in the world has an internet connection. What if the majority of players who play offline, which could be a pretty large percentage of the fanbase, actually like the station?

Regardless, if R* actually put in more great metal tracks in IV, maybe more people would've used it.

I was going to do the same, then I got hit with Jury Duty so I have to save my days. Dammit!

Tangent regarding that GTA 4 pic w/ the silver car, I don't see how anyone can drive it the game w/ that default camara. I need it pulled way way out. It's driving me crazy in Midnight Club.

I was constantly tilting the right analog stick to make the camera higher so i could see in front of my car.
I actually hated how you had to constantly adjust the camera while driving for it to feel good in IV. I hope they tweaked it.

He refers to how he died at the end of the article and one thing that stood out is this:

"But then I thought more closely about the moments in which I died. What did these passings have in common? It was when I hesitated, when I didn’t know where to go, and I’ve concluded that fault lies entirely with me. Admittedly, GTA V doesn’t tell you where to go, but that’s the point. You can go anywhere. I died when I lacked both imagination and conviction.

You see I’ve become awfully lazy when playing games that involve shooting and driving; I’m content to be pushed towards a mildly satisfying objective. So when I landed on the beach with Lamar, and he suddenly looked towards me for guidance, like a child who got mixed up in something he didn’t fully understand, I was overwhelmed. I could go anywhere, get away by any means I could find, but I died right there on the sand because I’ve grown acquainted to games that consistently underestimate me.
"

Maybe its hyperbole, but I feel if Rockstar has taken this approach of less hand holding, it will make for a better game.

Ha. I did the same exact thing. Funny, if you go back and play GTA 3 the default driving camera is at the perfect spot to be able to still see traffic in front of you while driving at high speeds.

My biggest issue with gta 4. I did the same with the r stick.
