I loved doing the Maude missions omg
That's the way to do it. Not just nameless cloned shitty criminals like in RDR. They all have great lines and learning a bit more about Maude after each mission felt great.

Shame there were only 4 of them ;(

I'm trying to do the finale to the first heist with a friend and one of us always disconnects right after the cutscene with lester right as it shows who is doing what role and what the expected payouts are...

Is anyone else having this problem?

oh wow at the game suddenly
turning into a straight up Max Payne 3 sequence. clothes. location. weather. bullet time. all of it

One thing I loved the first couple of days, were the vibes I was getting from other Rockstar games. You can see that all of their last gen games starting from GTA4 have been the necessary steps that had to be taken in order for this masterpiece of a game to be made. GTA4, RDR, LA Noire, MP3, elements of all games are in there.

I know, but the whole
Trevor going to dig out the grave
sequence becomes
Max Payne 3 the moment you start playing as Michael.

There's a scene in
Max Payne 3 that is pretty much the same.
location, weather, clothes.. there's a moment in
max payne 3 when you have a snowy shooutout in front of a church, basically.
even the
bullet time thanks to michael's ability.
kinda crazy.

wasnt expecting it but it was awesome. I think the other "necessary steps" are a bit more subtle. lol

What is currently the easiest method in gaining money in the PC version?(Singleplayer)

I already nearly beat it on PS4 so the PC version is pretty much just my way of mucking around and looking at the amazing image quality.

Using the Assassination missions and investing money smartly you can get 2+ billion each by the end of the game.

That too.
The shootout at the Kortz is also very MP-iny. FIB agents, SWAT and mercenaries, Michael shooting them all, Trevor covering Michael from above with a sniper rifle.

Goddamn this game.

Wish I'd known earlier about this. I've completed all but one of Lester's missions, had I know I'd have done them after completing the game.

Yeah a lot of folks don't know about it, rule of thumb is, do the first one, then wait and do the rest after you have finished the game, you'll never have to worry about money again.

I just got the game and it runs amazing on my laptop, but the volume in the game (especially radio) is too low. Does anyone know how to increase it?

to be fair dude straight up tells you "if I were you i'd buy stocks in X" before the first or second mission basically

Well the point is you want to have a lot of money to invest, thus waiting to do them at the end of the game, I don't think anyone got confused on needing to invest.

blah, right

my bad

I already did them all, but I did make some money investing

not really interested in continuing playing story after im done with the main missions I think. Im trying to clear them as I go rather than leave stuff to do after so meh. the missions themselves were fun

too bad I now have to run 5 miles in circles. kifflom.

Do Maude's missions appear on the map? I got one to find some dude on some quarry but I can't find it.

Also we should really organize to do some of those heists in GTAO. Playing with randoms is not exactly ideal.

no

gotta work with the image she gives you. it isnt too hard. if you give up there's always guides online that do give you exact locations

You can definitely see the progress Rockstar have made in their open world design from GTA III onwards in V. It has elements of Vice City, San Andreas, GTA IV, RDR, even bits from LA Noire and Max Payne 3 but having 3 playable characters and how some missions let you switch between them was something else. I really don't think I could go back to a single protagonist GTA without it being an exceptional character.

Well the point is you want to have a lot of money to invest, thus waiting to do them at the end of the game, I don't think anyone got confused on needing to invest.

But some of the Lester missions you have to do in order to proceed with the game. For example you have to do the first one before you can get the full mission for Blitz play as Franklin will text saying he has something to do for Lester before they can start. The thing is to maximise money you need to buy stock before accepting the mission so you need to have prior knowledge of which stock to buy before hand and you're only going to get that by having played the game a 2nd time, reloaded an earlier save or by using a guide.

You can make a fair bit on the side content, Strangers & Freaks missions and the first Hiest before you get to the first Lester mission. Then after those share you manipulated have peaked sell them all and buy the opposite share are they will go back to their precrash value in 3-4 in game days. The result is you become filthy rich very, very quickly.

Good game. Unbelievable achievement in terms of raw production, largely due to Rockstar's unmatchable manpower and experience with the genre. You'll be hard pressed to find an open world map as coherent, detailed, and believable as this. So when it comes to immersion it's unlike anything else there. From the little details to the distant lighting effects. Rockstar just "get it", and have the production to back it. It's a technical accomplishment through and through, looks outstanding on PC, and runs very well.

That being said, I've got the same issue with it as I do the last few GTAs: I wish it wasn't GTA. For me something like Sleeping Dogs is just so much more interesting to play on a mechanical level despite not coming close to the production scope and detail of GTA V. Shooting, melee, driving, flying, etc. It's all bog standard in GTA V. Which is intentional I guess. And it does bog standard arguably better than anybody else, across an insane assortment of diverse things to drive, guns to shoot, and places to be. Not to mention minigames.

But yeah. Where something like Sleeping Dogs doesn't touch the scope of this, I'm more inclined to play Sleeping Dogs and explore the game systems in full. With GTA V I have little incentive to engage in the game mechanics other than simply walking around, driving places, shooting shit, and marvelling at the technical/production accomplishment.

Which is funny, because Red Dead Redemption follows a similar philosophy of "bog standard" mechanical ideas but having a ton of them alongside crazy impressive production, but I feel more inclined to play something like that due to the more unusual setting and themes.

RDR was such a perfect combination as you had a very serious, driven story but populated by these fantastical characters and then when you go off piste some stuff was just as crazy as you'd expect to see in GTA. You can definitely see how RDR had an effect on GTA V but as Eats says the setting is really what made that game not only because it's uncommon in the Open World but The Western genre has always had great stories to tell in pretty much any medium.

Be really interesting to see how much GTA V might influence the next Red Dead. Multiple characters in a Western setting maybe something in a The Good, The Bad and The Ugly kind of way? Heist-like Train Robberies and such? Yes please!

you gotta wonder if they'd do a Remaster. I thought it was below them in a way before but after the whole mobile "remakes" and the GTAV PS4Bone version (tho I guess that was different because of the timing) I'd never say never

and what I mean by this is that there's no way in hell they'd do a red dead ps4bone version and not release it on PC

otherwise i'll get a cheap PS3 eventually and play the god damn fucking FUCKSHIT (FUCK) game and cry about how terrible it looks and what could have been

I don't think there will be a remaster. If I remember correctly someone from development said that the game in essence was barely holding together and was lucky to be released on PS3/360.

If anything I think RDR2 will come out in a few years. Around the time of last years E3 there was a GAF poster who was claiming that a "friend" was working on it and supposedly showed proof to one of the mods.

yeah. I read that many times

apparently the code is terrible too, or all "duct taped", lets say, in terms that someone opening it up would have no idea wtf is up

what a bummer

Ugh, GTA Launcher is such a heap

After a whole bunch of Code 1s and 2s during download, it now resets itself back to 57GB after "completing".

Anything I can do? I really wanted to play this game :(

That's just a rumour and not one I place much -- well, any -- stock in, personally.

Thats also got me thinking of RDR Online. Customized appearances, posses, gambling (poker, dice, blackjack), maybe factions (lawmen, thieves, bounty hunters, army) , kill or capture bounties.

It is only matter of time and money. Everything can be done if R* wants to put enough money and time to do it.

Damn GTA Online is some hard drug, playing heist with people on TeamSpeak is awesome.

I'm glad for the preorder money tho, farming to get a high end apartment and cars sounds pretty harsh.

I skew a bit (ok, much) more negativity in my opinion of GTAV, but this about sums up how I feel about the difference in experiences. GTAV is like the most impressive "museum game" of all time. I find it immensely interesting to walk/drive through and gawk at all the expensive, fragile, highly protected exhibits, but at the end of the day it's still a museum and I'm going somewhere else to really kick back and have fun.

No, I agree but at this point if the Rumors of Red Dead Redemption 2 are true. I figure Rockstar would rather focus time and money on developing a sequel rather than a remaster. Hell the reason Rockstar claims Red Dead didn't get released on PC is due in part to technical or business difficulties.

Rockstar: Red Dead Redemption on PC isn't happening, not 'viable'

Asked & Answered: Max Payne 3, L.A. Noire, Red Dead and More

Realistically, when do you see RDR on PC ?

No later than the same year as Red Dead Next. Given how receptive PS4/X1 owners were to the re-release of GTA5 I doubt Redemption is going to release on the PC but not the aforementioned current-gen systems.

Yeah, I'm familiar with R*'s comment, but it doesn't strike me as offering much in the way of insight.

Red Dead Redemption isn't happening in my opinion. Severely outdated build of RAGE from the same era as GTA IV which performed horrendously on PC. Plus rumours that the code in RDR was a complete mess. Honestly I think if Rockstar saw a port of Red Dead Redemption back then as at all viable considering other shit they had to do at the time (improve RAGE significantly, Max Payne 3, GTA IV), I think it would have happened. Then or around the time of the GOTY edition. So unless a remaster comes along that ship has long sailed in my opinion.

And I don't think a remaster is even remotely on the cards, as I'm fairly sure Rockstar's next big game is Red Dead Redemption 2. And I expect that will be on PC.

I'm definitely more negative than positive. I honestly think some of Rockstar's game design decisions are massively detrimental to fun open world play, and despite their acclaim have been bested time and time again in terms of inventive, tightly designed, downright fun open world GTA-like games purely in play. But yeah, for me it's a "museum game" too. It's like the ultimate real time tech demo: a simulated world with outstanding detail and presentation. Something as simple as hiking up a mountain or speeding through the city in the rain is deeply immersing. I just don't give a fuck about the "game" part of it.

Speaking of immersing, this game has some outstanding vistas. Shitty shot, but whatever.

Perfectly explaining why it is so massively popular imho. Nowadays it's all about immersion and actual gameplay comes second to many.

If they release a "remastered" edition of RDR it would be strange to ignore PC. But then, it's Rockstar...
