Anything I should lower or raise that would be a better trade off? Any tips or tricks that I should try? Overall a very solid port if its even running this good on my gpu.

I'm guessing this game is gpu bound so theres no point in finally OC'ing my cpu right.

Turning MSAA off saved me 20-30 frames at 1440p, of course it will be more expensive at higher resolutions.

I'll try those. Anything else?

Also curious what levels the console are at, any thoughts?

check what I posted last page

if you go Post-FX high instead of Very High you'll disable DoF but it gives you plenty room for MSAAx2, at least for me

think im still gonna go with DoF and FXAA tho. Motion Blur also kinda helps with the jaggies when moving

the depth of field effects in this game are just too good to disable

People have been talking about this, but I can't find a fix for the 59hz bug. Does turning off Vsync and enabling it in Nvidia control panel fix it? It's causing stutters when loading environments and is really bugging me

Running with a 970 and i5 4790k BTW and can't get a stable framerate at high settings. Thinking this 59hz issue is the cultprit given numbers others are getting.

turn off vsync in game and exit it. apply vsync or adaptive sync in nvidia control panel and start up the game. game will run way smoother.

Is anyone else having issues with AF where there is a visible line roughly 15 feet in front of your character and all textures/shadows sharpen once they are within that range?

This happened both on the 14.12 and 15.4 drivers, and this is something I have experienced in other games as well. Anyone know a fix for it? I've already tried forcing AFx16 through catalyst.

You have basically the same set up as me (I have an i7), but I've left everything set to normal because it says i'm 600mb's over my limit or whatever.... the benchmark says i'm getting 80 - 100 fps most of the time so I don't know what the deal is. What does it say about your memory usage at the top of the settings screen?

idk how you feel about 30fps in general but you can probably play at mostly 60 (say driving = 45-60fps) if you tone a few of those down.

Does anyone know what could be causing this? It's an old video but I get basically the same thing without the stutter. It's basically horrible pop in and no matter what setting I change it doesn't fix it.

Yeah I do. I don't have an SSD to install it to but I've never had a problem with a game and my HDD before so I wasn't sure if that was it. I still manage to get a good 55 fps (I have that dumb 59 hz problem so I can't get 60) but the whole pop in thing is really annoying.

Can't help with the pop in problem (although I experienced some pop in when I ran the benchmark for the very first time, heart sank as it looked just like San Andreas from 10 years ago).

However I did have a similar stutter problem yesterday, I had no idea why as the game was running flawless 80% of the time.... the other 20% had the stutter at the worst moments (and only when driving) - it got to a point where the game would crawl to 20fps (even less than that) and very annoying. No idea of the exact cause - some suggested maybe its the alt - tabbing then going back to the game, or changing settings while still playing or something,

I've had no stuttering in the game today at all - and I've changed my settings yet again. Beefing up the graphics a little (with the way I had it set it was better than GTA IV on pc... and far better than GTA V on 360/ps3 - yet my lowest was 90fps and highest was 190fps. Beefing up the quality now has me at 70fps at the minimum and 90fps at the maximum).

Huh, GTA has that weird vsync where it's double buffered until you Alt+Tab, then it's triple buffered. I think it was like that in Assassin's Creed Black Flag.

If anyone else is running in fullscreen with vsync and has weird drops to 30fps, just alt+tab out and back in and it should be running normally.

Disable the warning bro! Push it all the way to the red with me!

Anyone else running a single Titan X?

Mine is paired with a 2500k @ 4.7GHz.

Got everything completely maxed with FXAA at 2560x1440. Runs really well and looks a million times better than when I played on Xbox 360. Max VRAM usage was ~5.1GBs.

I wish I could turn on MSAA, but it brings the frames down too much.

If someone finds out at way to play at 60hz please, please tell me. 59hz does not play nicely with my monitor and causes stutter. I can create a custom res and that works, but it also blurs the image slightly. Better than nothing though.

So I'm running on a i5 4670k 3.40ghzm 16gb of ram and a GTX 770 2gb.

I'm able to easily get 60-70 stable FPS even when almost maxing everything (no MSAA tho)... Only issue I have right now is that the game will stutter for like half a second every minute or so. Not really a deal breaker but still annoying. I imagine that's because I'm maxing out my Vram allocation?

I could get VRam back in the green but then the textures would be at medium and that's ugly.

Turn off vsync in game, enable adaptive vsync under the games settings in the nvidia control panel.

yea I did but what does it mean? why would it have the limit so low when im still getting like 80 fps and higher most of the time?

I dont know. But I'm at a point where i get constant stutter if I go any higher. So thats all I would suggest, just going by feel. Hey we get the PC experience at the console framerate. We got it all baby!

Whats your CPU if I must ask? Just curious to see how I'd run this.

What kinda settings are you using to get 60fps with a 760?

Sorry for the delay, but I have an i5-4670. I run a mix of Normal and Very High settings. It still looks much better than the console versions (dat grass) but the fact that it runs at 60 FPS is amazing.

Haha, this game still runs good on a dual core Pentium G3258!

I can crank the settings to high/very high and I'll get 30-40fps with bouts of 50-60 in closed areas.

The only issue I have is the texture streaming issue and this annoying stutter, freeze. Other than that, this game plays WAY better than GTA IV and even Watch Dogs.

Hey, all just figured out a solution for anyone who wants to run at 60hz instead of 59.

Download Custom Resolution Tool and open it up. You'll probably see your current resolution in there with the refresh rate as 59.94 or something like that. Add another resolution, exactly the same using auto timings. Type in exactly 60hz and save. If you're on nvidia you might need to follow the extra step here.

Restart the video driver using the included .exe and when you load the game 60hz should be an option :)

Pleasantly surprised by how well it runs on my pretty old PC

2.4 ghz Q6600
1gb 560ti
4 gigs of ram

a mix of normal and high settings at 1920x1200 is getting me ~40fps with no slowdowns or drops. I think I could do even better (get to 60 or turn graphics up) with some more effort but for now I just went off the vram counter

hoping Nvidia releases one of those in depth tweakguides soon

Awesome, thanks a ton! Im away from my PC right now and wanted to verify. Someone else was talking about a 1:1 setting in nvidia that I couldn't find to get in-game vsync to hit 60hz. Spent a good hour experimenting with that.

gtx 760 2gb
phenom x2 955 be @ 3.4 ghz
8 gb ram

So far the performance is much better than I imagined. MSAA disabled and shadows on high with everything else on very high in 2560x1440 = 30-40 fps. I drove around the whole map for about an hour with those settings and it never dipped below 30. Doesn't hit the magical 60 fps but it looks super nice.

Have only done ~7-8 missions and a lot of driving around the city and so far, I'm pretty impressed. The game looks great and never drops below 60fps and is more normally in the 70/80s outside.

I'm something like 300MB over the in game memory limit but I had not experienced any stuttering at all which makes me think it doesn't reflect real time results so if you are thinking about it just rise your textures and see how it goes.

Not sure how crazier or more demanding the game gets later (I'm guessing I'm gonna lower the Grass quality when I actually finally go around in the woods but that's fine by me)

Really happy to finally play a silky smooth GTA.

G-Sync seems to work beautifully with this game. Just played the intro and it runs fucking great on my computer. Really pleased with this so far. My first time playing GTAV, so I'm excited. Unfortunately, it's going to have to wait until I finish Bloodborne.

Turn off vsync in game, enable adaptive vsync under the games settings in the nvidia control panel.

Cheers definitely made it better. I ended up fixing it entirely if anyone needs to fix it take a look at my post earlier.

What settings would cause screen tearing? Trying to pin point what's causing it to appear so badly all of a sudden.

Not having vsync on and anything that's FPS heavy enough to desync the FPS from your monitor's refresh. Or you might be above your refresh if it is running well.

Anyone know how to fix texture pop ins? I don't know why they're an issue for me especially since I'm running it on a Samsung 850 Pro.

Yeah but then you get tearing when it's under 60. It's better than the in-game vsync options but I'd still like a working triple buffering mode.

My specs:

i5 4760k
GTX 770 2GB
8GB RAM

Reading the results from similar setups in this thread is getting me excited. I'm waiting for a price drop though since I've already put a ton of hours into the 360 version.

I know it's already been stated, but I just wanted encourage people with Nvidia cards to try out adaptive vsync from the control panel (with vsync off in-game). I was having some funky stuttering issues and random frame drops but this vsync setting made everything so much more smooth.

I assume I need to add "Grand Theft Auto V" in the NVIDIA Panel and not "Grand Thef Auto V Launcher"?
