Asus P7P55D, i5 760, 4GB DDR3 and a GTX460 1GB. Dunno why or how it decided that my system wasn't good enough. But now it's installed and I'm gonna give it a go.Diablohead said:I am running the same OS, odd how you have a problem. What's your spec?

Cdammen said:It's unplayable for me. At the start of the game, when you have to drive it stutters every second stopping the game for several seconds before continuing. Audio continues without a problem and standing still and moving the camera yeilds great framerate and no stutter at all.
If I knew there would be this many hurdles... and when I installed the game I had to sign up for some stupid Rockstar Club crap. Fun fun fun.
My framerate was OK during the intro movie and I didn't notice game breaking stuttering. But when I drove the car (pressed W or S) the game basically froze every second. Totally unplayable.Gully State said:I can't speak for your several seconds of freezing but from my own experience, when I first popped it in, the game felt choppy as heck. I subsequently popped in my PS3 version just to see how it compares and it was just as choppy if not worse. It's weird though b/c when I first played through GTA4 on PS3, I never really noticed it but the framerate is really bad across all platforms.

Yeah and I don't think I noticed the choppines on my Xbox 360. Must've been to blown away by the graphics and excited to care about that when the game booted up for the first time on release day
I think this has something to do with the GFWL issue in 2009. It asked for an update the second time a booted up the game. Installing as I write this. I also got a prompt to uninstall Rockstar Social Club. What a weird procedure.

Use another payment method.BubTheZombie said:Already got GTA4 on steam and the dlc's on the 360 but I'd happily pay £6 for the extra episodes on the PC but when I get to Paypal it says it cannot process this request at the moment. Argghhhhhh!!
Any tips?
I updated the GFWL and then got GTA4 patched through it when I logged in and now it runs perfectly.brain_stew said:Are you using vsync?
Either ditch it or switch to D3DOverrider.
Only use the high texture settings with a 1GB card as well.
Oh and keep the sliders quite low, the higher settings are ridiculous overkill.

WEGGLES said:If I download it with the Comrade thing, do I need to use that to run it as well?
Only kind of bad? :lolWEGGLES said:OH good. :lol
This thing is kind-of bad.
Ok, it's pretty awful.Geoff9920 said:Only kind of bad? :lol
WEGGLES said:How do I download it with out using the comrade thing?
It says to use Firefox, so I did. All the download links try to launch Comrade... which is awful, and says "Download paused while ingame" I'm not in game.
Edit: Oh, I have to use THEIR download manager?
Thought it was referring to the little box that comes up as you download stuff with firefox. :lol
BloodySinner said:Can this be activated on Steam?
Apparently not. No buy.

edit: also is this lie steam where you can download/delete it as you wish, or can you only download it once?
brain_stew said:At the very least some of ENB's features will work, possibly all of them if you don't update through GFWL.
You are free to download the game as much as you like. No restrictions.

I couldn't even find where to download as a zip. I'm fine with the basic DL manager though, pausing is convenient. If only you could set the speed manually.jonremedy said:I think it's possible to download without using any special application. When I first tried downloading it using Chrome, it just gave me a .zip file. But I wanted to use a proper download-manager, so I installed their download manager.
