GTA4: Complete for $10/£6.25 @ D2D

At the very least some of ENB's features will work, possibly all of them if you don't update through GFWL.

You are free to download the game as much as you like. No restrictions.
Ah, but they used to have download restrictions. Thankfully D2D has come around.

You don't have to use the download manager, but if the download fails mid-stream, it's very unlikely you'll be able to resume via firefox. The manager is annoying, but its memory bloat is low compared to previous versions and it's not terribly intrusive. Just deal with it.

Umm, so downloaded both the main game and episodes in ZIP format over night...

Unzipped the main game just fine, got the compatibility error, then started it up in WinXP SP2 mode, so that's fine.

Thing is... I'm trying to unzip the episodes file and... Apparently the data files are over 114 Petabytes...

That's right.... 114 PB.

I think I did something wrong...

I ran the title update for Episodes From Liberty City and now I get an error saying that it stopped working. Fantastic. A patch that breaks the game for me. Any help from fellow Gaffers?

Sounds like a CRC error. Re-download hurr hurr

Did anyone else have trouble finding where to put in the activation code for Episodes from Liberty City? GTA IV vanilla installed just fine but when I installed the episodes no activation prompt came up, and when I try to chose the episodes from the in-game menu it prompts me to download and buy it from the Live Marketplace.

Awesome purchase.

Works flawlessly on Max levels after patching.

Never fully beat it on the PS3 when I bought it but playing it on a pimped PC is SOOOOOOOOO much better. Can't wait to try the DLC's.

Yeah it looks basically incredible on my asus g73. I didn't really notice the tire tread on the 360 version. :lol

Whoa, I can't believe anyone on here is mentioning the download manager or comrade (not required) when installing GFWL and registering for Rockstar Social Club is magnitudes worse and drastically more intrusive. It turns the already lengthy installation into a goddamn chore.

Some of you need to get your priorities straight.

Haha I said the same thing "wow the tires actually have tread and legible writing on them?".

I'm just amazed that I'm ripping through Algonquin without any slowdown.

Autopatch failed on my machine. I guess they want you to use the D2D distributions... Yet the latest one was mid 2009? Wasn't there a more recent patch?

Anyway, had to install social club at first, had to install windows live, had to create an account for social club, tried to log into live and refused, tried to log into live and refused, tried to log into live and refused, tried to log into live and refused, tried to log into live and refused, tried to log into live and refused, tried to log into live and refused, tried to log into live and refused, had to download my profile info, had to download a live update (the patch?), tried the patch from D2D and got stuck in an infinite log-in loop with social club... I thought they patched this shit out already?

This is the most annoying install I've ever seen in my 24 years on this earth. Surely I'm doing something wrong. Can somebody tell me, step by step, exactly the process to install correctly with the latest patch so nothing gets corrupted? I've never had to ask for install help, christ...

Alright, nevermind my ranting and raving. I got it all to work.

You can't let it update automatically through GFWL, however. That causes a corrupt install.

Ah, well I gotta smack myself for this... Used the Windows native ZIP program where I got the 15PB error...

Used 7Zip and everything got unpacked nicely. :-P

A few patches later and voila! Using my PS3 controller with a Xbox 360 controller emulator to play with a pad... :-3

That's weird. Does 7Zip have a different error correction or something? Hm.

My download was just a folder directory... No zip compression.

Hmm. Plays a lot better after the patch for sure. Thankfully I have a controller in the mail.

I can't even get this thing to work. Both GTA 4 and EFLC give me the "stopped working" message in Win7 64 more often than not right after initial text on load up. I've tried a few things I found on other forums, but has any GAFFer had any good success with fixing this problem?

Had the exact same thing, and I believe it's a Games for Windows problem... Go to your AppData folder, subfolder Microsoft ($userdir/AppData/Local/Microsoft/). Delete the XLive and GFWLive folders. Next time you start a game, log in with your gamertag, and DONT TURN ON AUTOMATIC SIGN-IN. Somehow this seems to be the culprit for me.

I may have missed something but is there any way of locking/limiting the game's FPS? I would rather play it in a steady 30 instead for the jumps between that and sixty. I can't find a ini-file to edit.
