No combat revamp in this expansion? Oh well :(

Chronomancers make mesmers good in PvE, Reaper makes necromancers good in PvE and "snap to ground target" means you don't need to aim AoEs (i.e. grenades) and click nonstop. That's all the combat revamp I could ever want.

People are also really digging the action camera.

Just thought you all (the newer people mostly) that Retro is FKN awesome and be happy that you have this man in your community.

That is all!

Asura's rule

The effort put into the OP exceeds anything I've ever seen on Gaf. He deserves all the pats on the back and claps of applause.

As soon as I redownload this to fix my janky login bug I will be all over this!

I think my ranger is pretty high? Err...what does Druid do to Ranger exactly?

https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Druid

Rangers entering the ancient Maguuma Jungle may attune to the long-dormant forces of Tyria to become Druids capable of channeling the might of the heavens, mending allies and daunting enemies. By gaining access to the staves weapon and glyphs, these masters of support bolster their allies with mystical insight into the natural world. Their new profession mechanic allows them to accumulate astral force to become a Celestial Avatar, a paragon of reactive recovery and strong sustainability in a dangerous world.

I can see which characters have which crafting discipline on the login screen! re-subbing now

Such a great addition. I was once trying to figure out who had max tailor and it took me several logins/logouts until I found out it was one of my Warriors who had it.

Spent so much silver figuring out who had what, it's that feature that got me to bookmark gw2efficiency.

Tons of bugs again :/

If you unlock skills in PvP you miss out on the skins/achievements lol. Stuff like this is so obvious to catch in testing...guess we just gotta wait a couple weeks until the game is playable.

Would it be possible to get a gaf invite for me as well if there is still room? am mostly active during US evenings so I hope that is OK. my gw2 name is Moskibear.3482

Am loving heart of thorns so far, even though I find myself a bit more busy with the halloween event for the moment, but at least something to look forward to soon!

They'll likely have a hotfix for it by the end of the day and retroactively give the rewards... there's nothing stopping you from playing the game though.

Someone invited you, welcome!

I feel as if I spend most of my time chasing events, but never making it in time. In SW I could solo tiny events and still be useful, but that usefulness is gone in the new maps.
I hope it is because events are bugged and people are still figuring things out, but these giant maps feel.. sort of dead with only big event chains in each end of the map. Auric Basin was such a pain after an hour that I went back to Tyria.
Especially what with how many events are gated off by requiring mastery.
Eh, first day feels sort of iffy.

But wow does the subclasses feel good.

Hawkian

The Cryptarch's Bane
I'd love an invite too Spirit of Jazz.3958

I'm in Europe right now but might fork up the ridiculous transfer cost if I enjoy the expansion.
If you do and plan to stick with it, we has sponsored many transfers for EU players in the past. Funds might be stretched a little thin while we build the guild up though.

Now I just want to be able to remove crafting disciplines from characters. There are a number at level 0 that I gained by accident near launch (talked to the wrong NPC while clocking frantically for special crafting supplies). They're so distracting (and shameful)...

I played the free version for the first time last night and got to lvl 10. I like it! Im really interested in getting to dungeons though as thats my favorite thing to do in MMOs.

The only think that bothers me is that the armor ive gotten (i havent gotten that much) hasnt changed how my character looks at all. I still look the same as I did at lvl 1.

Am I doing something wrong? Or does armor not really change much?

Once crafting is unlocked you can craft a few new looks if you take the profession your character wears. (light, medium, heavy)
Visit karma vendors after finishing hearts, they often sell unique armor/weapons.

This is Fashion Wars.

You need to buy new armor, there are many skins for the armor, but if you bought more armor with the same skin, you'll look the same.

Also, HoT is fucking amazing. That is all.

First dungeon is at 30 (story) explorable is 35 which is much harder. As for your gear, there's a reason the game is often referred to as Skin Wars 2 or Fashion Wars 2. Don't worry about your looks for right now as that will all come in time. Head to the bank and open up your wardrobe if you want to see every skin in the game.

Just wanted to say that I have not stayed up till 5am playing a game in many years. Incredible expansion ANet and an incredible launch.

Has anyone seen anything with regards to the "invisible" shoes in the wardrobe?
Are they an actual item, or a bugged dev item?

The flight plan I just filed with the agency list me, my men, Dr. Pavel here. But only one of you!
So is new class the super good fun times?

It's good, but it's the new sub-classes that make me excited. Daredevil, Druid, Berserker and Reaper are all pretty amazing game and game changers.:p

I've never really had a strong grasp of how class customization ends up working due to my highest level char being like 12. Is this sort of equivalent to every WoW class getting a 4th spec?

edit: NM, I see that they are all new things unlocked after leveling up.

I know I've fallen off the side of the Earth regarding GW2 (in my defense, there's exactly 0 computers that can run it in my house right now, I'm writing this from my Wii U), but I just read about the action camera, and it seems downright amazing for what Hawkian and I did regarding playing with a controller. So much so that most of the hacks we had to implement should be superseded and indeed much improved by it. Hell, I would't be surprised if one no longer needed AutoHotkey at all and could play just with XPadder!

As I said I can't try any of this just yet, but hopefully I'll get a new computer soon. In any case, this is amazing news for anyone that loves playing with a gamepad, and I can only guess they also had those in mind when they implemented it.

From patch notes:

To sync armor crafting with weapon crafting, and to help maintain the value of leather, masterwork, rare, and exotic inscriptions will now be crafted with patches made from leather and cloth. To account for the added leather cost, the amount of cloth required to make an insignia is reduced.

I'm confused though, what got reduced?

I'm starting a new character from scratch and rediscovering the game all over again before I get into the expansion (if I ever do). It feels good to play the game again.

I hesitate to ask for a guild invite since I won't be as active and essentially all I really want is to play with others for the story missions in dungeons. If there's an abundant space toss me an invite @ jason.6489.

I think it was cloth numbers on anything below ascended.

But that's why I'm confused. If you try to craft a non-ascended insignia right now, post-patch, it costs the same amount of cloth as it did before the patch. Bug/oversight?

Oh, I dunno. Haven't been able to log in yet. Did they change the refining ratios instead maybe?

I'm kind of interested in setting up the Steam controller with it since it has suck good keyboard/mouse emulation. I plan on trying it this weekend.

I purposely cleared out ~89 inactive players to make room, you're good! I'm not at home or I'd add you, but I guarantee one of our fine upstanding officers or leaders will have you in before I get back. =)

Give it a few days (or perhaps weeks) for the rush to die down, and the zones will likely feel more manageable again. I'd be surprised if the early rush doesn't die down in a few days, and in the meantime just walk a little slower so some events can catch up. :p

I wouldn't be surprised if Anet is looking at the numbers and letting more instances be created to manage the player population, but not too fast to compromise stability. Anet may not be great with bugs, but their uptime is impeccable.

Maybe the discussion in this post will help? I haven't been able to verify if there's an error anywhere: https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2...ed_armor_crafting_just_became_more_expensive/

The top comment mentions the same patch note I quoted but it's not really the topic of discussion on that thread. That thread is just full of people whining about ascended insignias increasing in cost, but I'm talking about non-ascended stuff, which, as far as I can tell, has not changed, even though the patch said they would require less cloth.
